From BOSS to Canon Fodder: She is Currently Out of Service!-Chapter 69 - 41: The Informant (Part 2)
Su Jiameng took two steps forward and said to her, "This matter is quite significant, and it’s related to Sergeant An, so it’s inconvenient to ask her directly. Could you please do me a favor and clarify a couple of points for me? It won’t take much time, just a moment..."
Private Wan instinctively took a small step back when she saw Su Jiameng approaching. She deeply disliked these commoners, finding them rude and uncultured, with such meager abilities... For a myriad of reasons, she really didn’t like being close to them. However, upon hearing that this matter involved An Xiangjiao, she suppressed her displeasure and frowned as she asked, "What’s the matter? Hurry up and ask, why be so sneaky?"
"That Sergeant An... is she secretly in love with Captain Liu?" Su Jiameng had thought about it over the past few days and felt that this was very possible. She got along with An Xiangjiao quite well, and there was no reason for her to target Su Jiameng. The only possible reason might be due to someone, wanting to give her trouble. Countless possibilities boiled down to "love," which was the easiest reason for women to go mad.
Private Wan stared at Su Jiameng for several seconds with eyes wide as if she’d seen a ghost before finally asking, "I think there’s something wrong with your brain. Someone like An Xiangjiao, where would she have the qualification to covet someone like Captain Liu? Does she even have the right?"
Private Wan’s expression was extremely sarcastic at this last comment. Su Jiameng didn’t know that Liu Shiyi was an outstanding graduate from Xilena High School, someone who rapidly climbed the ranks in the Military Department after entry. In Private Wan’s view, Liu was as exalted as the moon in the sky, a presence even she dared not dream of. How could An Xiangjiao, a commoner without power, influence, money, or status, possibly dare to have a crush on him?
"Moreover, Captain Liu is already married. The Captain’s wife was a former Lieutenant in the Expedition Army, someone An Xiangjiao couldn’t catch up to no matter how hard she worked all her life. What qualification does she have to have a crush on the Captain..." Private Wan’s tone was resolute.
Su Jiameng was taken aback, not having expected the other party’s character to be so blunt... to the point of being simple-minded. Liking someone seems to never require any so-called qualification, right? Especially when it’s a secret crush! But since her upbringing was in this environment, there was no point in arguing with her; she simply wanted to know the information she sought.
Su Jiameng was very sure that the person who secretly took photos back then was definitely An Xiangjiao, but she didn’t know the motive behind her actions.
Private Wan thought about it discontentedly and then added, "But regarding liking someone, given An Xiangjiao’s temperament, she really might do something like this. Captain Liu is sought after even in the Expedition Army, so it’s normal for this woman to desire him."
"Huh?" Su Jiameng was stunned. Since Liu Shiyi was already married, his marriage should be protected by the Alliance’s laws. Whether it’s the couple being unfaithful or an outsider wanting to get involved, once confirmed, they’d all face sanctions...
"Captain Liu’s wife..." Private Wan seemed to be a fan of all kinds of gossip herself. She looked around, making sure no one was paying attention, before whispering, "Captain Liu’s wife was previously an Alliance Lieutenant, but it’s heard that she had some issues during a mission and was discharged early. Some even say that Captain Liu’s wife was seriously injured in that mission and doesn’t have long to live..."
Su Jiameng listened, increasingly more surprised, not having expected such details to be involved. Private Wan seemed to realize that her behavior was inappropriate and glanced at Su Jiameng with a hint of anger, her voice stern as she said, "But no matter what, An Xiangjiao doesn’t have the right to fancy Captain Liu, and Captain Liu would never be interested in such a woman!"
Actually, being reminded by Su Jiameng, she recalled something. Ever since An Xiangjiao joined the Expedition Army, her attire had changed somewhat; upon close inspection, it was very similar to the former Lieutenant’s. Moreover, she seemed to have been recently transferred to the unit managed by Liu Shiyi... Thinking about this, Private Wan’s face darkened even further.
Su Jiameng watched as Private Wan walked off with wind in her step, puzzled, she scratched her head and muttered to herself, "People these days... Is everyone’s aesthetics so... convoluted? It seems that that guy’s looks are not even considered mainstream, right?"
She always thought that everyone liked those dressed in military uniforms, slender and frail, androgynous yet aggressively cool inside, always with a shadowed gaze and a wickedly charming smile... those who appeared weak on the outside but were strong in essence.
According to these standards, Liu Shiyi couldn’t even touch the edge of a handsome guy’s coat, right? But... maybe she couldn’t keep up with the zeitgeist; perhaps the world no longer favors those beautiful, unisex handsome types?
