From Beast Abilities to Sect Grand Master-Chapter 294 : Small Skirmish
Lin Fan, Ho Ming and Hun Yen Kun traveled and reached the foot of the mountain without encountering anyone.
The most they met with were miners and artifact cultivators going into and coming out of the Iron and Fire Mountain.
Lin Fan tried to gather information from them with casual chitchat.
But none of them knew who Master Su Qi Nian was.
Their search might not go as smoothly as expected.
"Whatever you do, don't go near fire pools and the cave at the peak. It's haunted and many miners have perished when they ventured nearby."
The miner with his face covered in dirt said to Lin Fan as he bid farewell.
"Thanks, we will take care not to venture near." Lin Fan said thanks and returned to where the others were.
The fire pools must have been live magma, the fumes that it released were deadly, so it was expected.
However, what's in the cave that would kill the miners?
He didn't have any clues, and the only way was to go and find out.
Lin Fan briefed the others on what he had found out and they agreed.
The cave was most suspicious.
So, they entered the mountain and started to ascend it.
When they got to the mine entrance it was already noon, and they decided to take a break.
Whilst they were eating their meal, Lin Fan noticed on the walls of the rocks at the mine entrance, there were claw markings all over it.
Demonic beasts.
He still had a choice of changing beast ability with level intact or having an extra slot for his beast abilities.
Right now, having an extra slot seemed preferable.
Lin Fan, with a chicken drumstick in his hand, walked over to one of the guards at the mine entrance.
"Hey, we are trying to seek out fortunes in this mountain. But I see these markings on the rocks, are there some powerful beings in the mountain?"
He said, and held his chicken drumstick up, trying to make the guard divulge some information.
"You don't have to."
The guard swallowed a mouthful of saliva and took the drumstick.
He took a big bite, munched on it and said, "umph.. this is good, better than the dry rations."
After he swallowed whatever was in his mouth, he pointed at the distance where pillars of dark smoke could be seen.
"There's a Giant Magma Leopard that lurks over there. Occasionally, it will come and attack." He shrugged and said, "Few miners will be picked by it, and it will leave. So, you better be careful and not go there."

Lin Fan nodded and said, "Thanks so much for the warning."
He turned back and joined back with the others.
Although he wanted to go and finish off the Giant Magma Leopard, he wanted to do so after he was done with Han Xin and whatever he had arranged for them.
After they finished their meal and break, they continued to trek up the mountain.
…
When they reached the midway of the mountain, a familiar face was waiting for them on the only path.
"We meet again my brother. And as promised, it's time you pay for the humiliation and this."
Han Xin held up his bandaged hand and said.
He had two old men standing beside him and twenty house guards behind them.
"So, this is the 'skirmish with the locals' that you mentioned?" Ho Ming said as he drew out his swords.
Lin Fan shrugged and gave him an innocent look.
Ho Ming sighed and said, "Well, at least you didn't splatter their heads like watermelons."
"Still in the mood to chat? You seriously don't know what's in store for you." Han Xin said and put down his hand.
The twenty house guards charged at Lin Fan and the rest.
"Ho Ming, take care of the guards." Lin Fan said and he stared at the two old men.
A familiar sound had erupted in his mind.
[Ding!]
[Detected souls with malevolent intent incoming!]
[Terminate Min Lao and Hong Lao with malevolent intent for 1800 vengeance points.]
Boom!
Ho Ming thrust his sword onto the ground and explosions ensued.
The house guards charging at them were stopped by the explosions.
The explosions caused limbs to fly.
"Argh. My legs."
House guards fell and cried out in pain.
Hun Yen Kun sent out a cross strike and a slicing wave in the form of an X sliced through the house guards that were on the ground.
This time their bodies were sliced into pieces by the cross strike.
Blood and flesh were strewn all over the place.
Han Xin couldn't believe what he saw.
Yesterday, it wasn't like this.
Min Lao grinned with his crooked teeth and licked his lips.
"Now, that's worthy of our time. We've wanted to see how strong the Qing Feng Sect is for a long time."
"Hmph. Stop talking and get to work!" Hong Lao wasn't pleased, and he gave Min Lao a palm on his back.
Min Lao stumbled towards Lin Fan.
Lin Fan wasn't about to be fooled by such antics.
He took out the Dragon's Roar Spear and thrust it at Min Lao.
Whoosh.
The slicing wave from the Dragon's Roar Thrust shot at Min Lao.
Min Lao dodged to the side, but he wasn't fast enough.
A gust of wind brushed past his upper arm, and it got cut.
Hong Lao squinted his eyes and saw what happened.
He knew by then it was not going to be an easy battle.
He took out his weapon which was a sickle, and he lunged at Lin Fan from his side.
Han Xin couldn't believe it when he noticed Hong Lao taking out his weapon.
It was rumored that no one had been able to force them to do so for the past fifty years.
Hong Lao was much faster than his counterpart and he came like a ghost at Lin Fan.
Slash.
The sickle glowed and a trail of crimson came at Lin Fan as he slashed it down.
Min Lao also took the opportunity to throw out darts at Lin Fan.
"Let's see how you get out of this." Han Xin grinned at the prospect of seeing Lin Fan being slashed into pieces.
