Chapter 60: Beneath the Glamour: A Charity Gala Turned Nightmare III
When Sian raised his head, he met Jiang Hangyu’s sharp gaze. Of course, the latter wasn’t alone; beside him stood the "green tea" who shared the same white hair as Sian. But even so, it was clear that the colour didn’t suit him at all—it only made him look like a pale ghost. Sian couldn’t understand how his fans admired that appearance.
Jiang Hangyu had one hand resting on Song Zijian’s waist as he looked at Sian. At first, he was stunned by the other’s appearance—Sian truly looked like a breathtakingly beautiful angel. He had always believed that white hair suited Sian perfectly. However, ever since he learned that Sian was merely imitating Zijian and bullying him at every opportunity, he had begun to feel disgusted by Sian’s so-called "copied" appearance. But today, for the first time in a long while, Hangyu felt the same sensation he had when he first laid eyes on Sian—a bewitching, gentle, and innocent beauty. That was his very first impression of him.
As always, the moment Song Zijian noticed Hangyu’s admiration for Sian, he couldn’t bear it and immediately spoke up, "Brother Sian, hello! I didn’t know you were invited to this party. I see you’ve dyed your hair white again—ah, my brother Sian really loves this colour."
With just a few suggestive words, Hangyu’s gaze shifted from admiration to one of disdain and mockery. He then sneered, "Still just a filthy gold digger, huh? You must’ve climbed into some old man’s bed to get yourself invited to such a grand event. Sian, you’ve truly disappointed me. And to think, you’re back to imitating my Xiao Jian again."
Sian slowly gazed at the two who were putting on their little theatrical performance. Once again, he found himself wondering—how the hell did someone as brainless as Jiang Hangyu manage to take control of the Jiang Empire and succeed in the business world?
Even a cheap "green tea" was able to manipulate him so easily... I really have no idea how that’s possible.
"Oh, hello there, Former President Jiang and his little sweetheart," Sian greeted with a casual smile. "If my memory serves me right, isn’t your sweetheart just a small-time celebrity who can’t even afford to attend such an extravagant party?" He then placed a hand over his mouth in mock surprise, his amber eyes widening. "Ah! So you must have climbed into the old man’s bed as well to get invited! Tsk, tsk. What a delicate lotus flower. You seduced some wrinkled old fossil to secure your place here. So why are you acting like a noble young master and criticizing me for doing the exact same thing you did?"
"Who are you calling old?!" Jiang Hangyu shouted. It was obvious that he didn’t care about anything else Sian had said—his focus was solely on the fact that he had been called "old."
"What a qualified lover" Sian mused.
His beloved was insulted, yet he only cared about himself. As expected from a selfish man who only sees "me, myself, and I."
At that moment, Lan Qisheng approached the group, standing beside Sian as he asked, "Sian, what’s going on here?"
Sian sighed in boredom. "Nothing, just some stray dogs barking."
"You—!" Jiang Hangyu was about to hurl insults at Sian, calling him a whore and who knows what else, but Lan Qisheng cut him off, his voice calm but firm, "Boss Jiang, I’d advise you to watch your image. This is a public setting, after all. It wouldn’t be a good look to have the great CEO Jiang lying on the ground with a bloody nose, would it?"
One look at Lan Qisheng’s face was enough to tell that he wasn’t joking. He wasn’t the type to spout nonsense—if he said he’d do something, he meant it.
Remembering that this man was a soldier, Jiang Hangyu instinctively took a step back, grabbed Song Zijian, and walked away. However, deep down, he couldn’t help but wonder—how did an ordinary soldier even manage to attend such a prestigious event? Even he had barely qualified for an invitation, considering that his business had only flourished in recent years. He wasn’t among the wealthiest elites just yet.
After the two left, Sian finally enjoyed a moment of peace, standing beside Lan Qisheng. Of course, after a few wolves had come sniffing around his lover, Lan Qisheng had no intention of leaving Sian alone—not even for a single step.
To Sian, the party was dreadfully dull. After a few hours at most, the guests were asked to step outside to the garden, where a buffet had been prepared. A live band had also been arranged. This was where the charity auction would take place.
When it came to charity events, simply donating money was not considered "elegant" enough for the wealthy. That was why the guests would bring trinkets and valuable items, which would then be auctioned off to other guests. The money collected from these purchases would then be donated to charity.
This method was deemed far more refined and enjoyable, which was why the upper class adopted it. It allowed them to have fun, socialize, and build connections—all while doing something charitable. Killing two birds with one stone.
By the time the sun had set, the garden was illuminated with dazzling lights, making it truly worthy of its name—the Heaven’s Garden.
With soft music playing in the background, the guests gathered and took their seats, savouring the elegant atmosphere. However, no one could tear their eyes away from a certain breathtaking sight—a particular young man sitting at a nearby table.
Sian’s cheeks were puffed out, full of food. Yes, he was currently eating.
Don’t joke with him—he was starving. Yet, despite the colourful buffet overflowing with exquisite dishes and desserts, none of the other guests had approached the food. What’s the point of having food if you don’t eat it?
And so, completely disregarding the etiquette and traditions of the wealthy, Sian grabbed a plate, filled it to the brim, and sat down at a table with Lan Qisheng, eating without pause. When he noticed the latter staring at him, Sian glanced up, then casually extended his hand, offering a small strawberry shortcake covered in cream. "Do you want some?"
Could Lan Qisheng say that he didn’t like sweets? Of course not. Seizing the opportunity, he opened his mouth and took a bite of the creamy dessert. The cake was small, and when he bit into it, he could feel Sian’s fingers between his teeth. Not stopping there, he even licked Sian’s cream-covered fingertips.
Just as he was about to do more, Sian’s calm voice interrupted him:
"Are you planning to go into heat right here? If not, then back off—I want to eat."
Finally, Lan Qisheng snapped out of his so-called lustful daze, as Sian would put it. He reluctantly pulled away, only to watch as Sian popped the rest of the cake—the very same one he had just bitten—into his mouth and ate it without hesitation.
Once again, heat spread through Lan Qisheng’s entire body.
Letting out a deep sigh, he straightened his posture just as the host announced the beginning of the charity auction.
