From A Producer To A Global Superstar-Chapter 375: A Day with Dayo
Shina did not sleep well.
It wasn’t fear exactly. It wasn’t even nervousness in the normal sense. It was the kind of restless energy that sat inside his chest and refused to quiet down, the kind that kept replaying the same moments over and over again until they began to feel unreal.
The DM was still open on his phone.
He must have read it at least thirty times already.
I want you around the team while I’m in Lagos. Document everything.
Even now, lying on his bed in the dim light of the hotel room, Shina stared at the message again just to make sure nothing had changed. His thumb hovered over the screen like the words might suddenly disappear if he looked away.
A laugh escaped him quietly.
"Guy... this thing still feels like a prank."
He tossed the phone onto the mattress beside him, sat up, then immediately grabbed it again.
Still there.
Still real.
Dayo had actually sent it.
The same Dayo whose songs he had been singing for years. The same Dayo whose videos he had defended when people were dragging him online. The same Dayo who had somehow looked straight at him and treated him like a normal human being instead of just another fan.
His head fell back against the wall.
For a moment he just sat there staring at the ceiling fan slowly turning above him.
Then an idea crossed his mind.
He opened his social media apps.
Status.
He didn’t think too hard about it.
"Something big is cooking." He quoted
That was all he wrote.
No explanation. No emojis. Nothing else.
He posted it and locked his phone.
Thirty seconds later the phone vibrated.
Then again.
Then again.
Within two minutes it was buzzing nonstop.
Shina picked it up and stared.
Messages.
Mentions.
Replies.
People had already started guessing.
"Bro what do you mean something big is cooking"
"Shina talk now"
"Did JD call you to visit"
"Guy don’t do this thing and leave us hanging"
"You better not be trolling"
"Did he give you money?"
He laughed quietly.
His fingers hovered over the keyboard for a moment, but he stopped himself.
"No," he murmured to himself. "Not yet."
If he said anything now it would explode too early and he knew that for every hype silence or anticipation is one key to let people be on their toes.
So he simply locked the phone again and stood up.
The small room suddenly felt too tight.
He grabbed his slippers and stepped outside for air.
Lagos was still alive even though the hour was late. A generator hummed in the distance. Somewhere down the street a group of people were laughing loudly over a football match replay. Motorcycles passed occasionally, their engines cutting through the night.
Shina leaned against the wall and exhaled slowly.
A few minutes later his phone buzzed again.
This time the caller ID made him smile.
Cousin.
He answered.
"Guy," his cousin’s voice exploded through the speaker immediately. "What nonsense is this your status?"
Shina laughed.
"Which nonsense?"
"Don’t pretend with me. Something big is cooking ke? What is cooking?"
"Relax first," Shina said, still smiling.
"Relax? After everything that happened yesterday you now post that kind of thing and you want me to relax? After visiting Dayo you know even give gist."
Shina leaned his head back against the wall.
" haha calm down nah Okay, okay. I’ll tell you."
There was a pause on the line.
"Wait," his cousin said slowly. "You’re serious?"
"Very."
"What happened?"
Shina inhaled deeply.
Then he told him. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
Everything.
How Dayo stopped the car.
How they spoke.
How calm he was.
How normal he felt standing beside him.
And finally the message.
There was silence on the other side for several seconds.
Then his cousin burst out laughing.
"Guy you are lying."
"I swear."
"You are lying!"
"I’m not."
Another pause.
Then the tone of his cousin’s voice changed slightly.
"...You’re serious."
"Yes."
"Dayo... wants you around his team?"
"That’s what he said."
"Ah."
That was the only sound his cousin made for a moment.
Then he exhaled slowly.
"Shina."
"Hmm?"
"Don’t mess this up."
The words landed heavier than Shina expected.
He nodded even though his cousin couldn’t see him.
"I know."
"You understand what kind of opportunity this is?"
"I know."
"You’ve been shouting his name online for years. Now the man himself is calling you."
"I know."
His cousin laughed again, softer this time.
"Life is funny sha."
They talked for a while longer, replaying the story again and again like it might change.
Eventually the call ended.
But sleep still didn’t come easily.
Shina lay on his bed staring at his phone again.
His status had already gathered hundreds of replies.
The number was still climbing.
He placed the phone on the bedside table and forced his eyes closed.
Eventually exhaustion won.
Five hours later his alarm exploded beside his head.
Shina jerked upright instantly.
For a moment he forgot where he was.
Then everything rushed back.
He grabbed his phone.
Still there.
The message.
Today.
Today he was meeting Dayo again.
Adrenaline replaced sleep instantly.
He moved fast.
Shower.
Clothes.
Clean sneakers.
He checked himself in the mirror twice before leaving.
"Calm down," he muttered to his reflection. "Just act normal."
Outside the morning sun was already warming the streets.
Traffic hummed steadily as he headed toward the location Sharon had sent earlier.
By the time he arrived, his hands were shaking slightly.
The building was larger than he expected.
Security stood near the entrance, checking vehicles and greeting staff. A few black SUVs were parked neatly along the side.
For a moment Shina considered turning around.
Then one of the doors opened.
Dayo stepped out.
Even wearing simple clothes he was immediately recognizable.
The same calm presence.
The same relaxed expression.
He spotted Shina instantly.
"Morning," Dayo said, walking over.
"Morning," Shina replied quickly, hoping his voice didn’t sound as nervous as he felt.
"You find the place okay?"
"Yes."
"Good."
Dayo gestured toward the building.
"Come. Let me introduce you to the team."
Inside the atmosphere was busy but organized.
People moved between rooms carrying equipment, cameras, tablets, folders.
Dayo led Shina toward a small group standing near a table.
"This is Sharon, my assistant if you need access to any information she would tell you everything you need to know." he said.
Sharon smiled politely.
"Nice to finally meet you. I saw your video."
Shina felt heat rush to his face.
"Thank you."
Dayo gestured toward the others.
"These guys handle production, logistics, and documentation."
A few nods greeted him.
Some of them looked curious.
Others already seemed to know exactly who he was.
Sharon crossed her arms lightly.
"So you’ll be documenting the Lagos activities while we’re here," she explained. "Just capture everything naturally. Nothing staged."
Shina nodded immediately.
"Okay."
Dayo glanced at him.
"You ready?"
Shina took a breath.
"Yes."
The morning moved quickly after that.
Equipment was packed.
Vehicles were prepared.
Shina stayed close, filming small moments as they moved between locations.
At first he worried about where to stand or how to angle the camera.
But gradually the nervousness faded.
By afternoon he had hours of footage.
People greeting Dayo.
Conversations.
Laughter.
Small interactions that showed the man behind the fame.
Later that evening Shina sat at a desk with his laptop open.
The room was quiet except for the faint clicking of the keyboard.
Clip after clip appeared on the screen as he sorted the footage.
The day replayed itself.
Dayo greeting staff casually.
Sharon explaining schedules.
Team members joking while equipment was packed.
For a moment Shina paused the video.
On the screen he saw himself in the reflection of a window.
Camera in hand.
Standing beside them.
Not watching from the outside anymore.
Inside.
He leaned back slowly.
"...Wow."
Then he returned to editing.
An hour later the timeline was complete.
He hovered over the upload button.
Then he clicked it.
The video began processing.
The first view appeared.
Then the second.
Then the third.
Shina stared at the numbers quietly.
Then he leaned back in his chair and smiled.
"Let’s see what Lagos does with this."
