Chapter 945: Chapter 945: Absolutely Cannot Die_1
After everyone left, only Purple Summers and Alexander Summers remained in the ward.
Alexander asked her softly, “How do you feel?”
Purple took a slow breath and said hoarsely, “It hurts.”
Alexander’s eyes were slightly moist.
He reached out and gently touched her hair, his voice tender, “It will get better.”
He turned around, poured half a cup of warm water, inserted a straw, and brought it to her lips.
Purple opened her mouth slightly, took the straw in her mouth to drink, her lips becoming moist and with that, gaining a hint of a rosy tint. Alexander then thought she looked like a little kitten, nestled against his big hand, drinking water as if she couldn’t live without him.
A strange emotion surged in his heart, like a mix of being touched and satisfied, and his chest felt warm and full.
After Purple had some water, he couldn’t help but say, “Do you really want to marry me that badly?”
He thought that, given Purple’s character, she would either pretend not to hear out of shyness or scold him with a feigned annoyance. Instead, Purple nodded very seriously and said firmly, “You don’t know how much I regretted getting shot. When I was unconscious, my mind was fuzzy with the thought, ‘What if I die like this? I haven’t married you yet; if I die now, it would be such a loss.'”
She closed her eyes as if talking to herself, “I can’t die, I can’t die… I want to marry you. Even when I die, I want ‘Wife of Alexander Summers’ carved on my tombstone. So right now, I absolutely cannot die.”
Alexander’s lips curved upwards, feeling like he should smile, yet his eyes burned with warmth.
An indescribable emotion filled his chest, his breathing hot. He wanted to hug her but was afraid of hurting her. After hesitating for a while, he finally took hold of Purple’s hand.
“Okay, we’ll get married,” he said, holding her hand and kissing it gently, his voice husky, “Once you’ve recovered, we’ll get married.”
He couldn’t wait any longer.
Purple’s relief at the promise was like letting go of a burden.
With the most important matter resolved, other thoughts began to flood her mind—
“Tiny…” Purple asked him, “At that time, I think I heard Tiny’s voice.”
Tiny had already moved to Purple’s new house, but still regarded the Summers Residence as its own territory, occasionally flying back with its spouse and children to patrol the area.

When Purple was in trouble, all the crows flew in. They ripped through the mosquito netting, charging at Nathaniel Summers with screams and scratches. Nathaniel’s gun fired wildly, even the thunder couldn’t drown out the noise.
Yolanda Summers, hearing the commotion, left her guests and wanted to go upstairs to see what was happening when she met Laura Summers coming down.
As sisters, Laura couldn’t keep her unusual behavior from Yolanda. Under Yolanda’s pressing, Laura explained the cause and effect in a few words, and Yolanda immediately called the police.
When Alexander arrived, Nathaniel was nowhere to be found.
The room was in disarray, with black feathers scattered on the crimson embroidered quilt, strikingly visible against the bloodstains. Tiny’s mate had been hit by a bullet and had stopped breathing.
Not wanting to upset Purple, Alexander did not mention this and only said, “Tiny is fine.”
Purple was relieved, and then she asked him, “What about May Francis?”
“She lost too much blood and couldn’t be saved,” Alexander said. “Nathaniel got her drunk; she probably didn’t suffer much when she died.”
Purple fell silent.
Both she and Alexander knew that the original Purple had died from suicide by cutting her wrists after getting drunk.
Nathaniel plotted for May Francis to die in this manner, then had Suzanne Saunders drown again. What was he trying to achieve? Maybe it was just as he said: either live as his wife or die…
Even becoming a ghost to stay by his side was preferable to marrying Alexander.
The happier and more joyful their lives were, the more it signified shame, mockery, and pain for Nathaniel.
