Chapter 921: Chapter 921: Escape from the Dead _1
In the break room, Henry Jameson was absolutely furious.
“What the hell is going on? I killed Sean Patterson?” he said incredulously, looking toward Noelle Nichols, “Hannah, you think it was me, too?”
“I didn’t! I had no idea it would turn out like this!” Noelle Nichols’s face was pale, still in shock.
She turned her head to look at Austin Ross, asking, “Mr. Ross! What on earth is going on?”
“I’m very sorry, Ms. Nichols, but this was the only thing I could do,” Austin Ross spoke, “I am your attorney, not Mr. Jameson’s, and I must do everything within my power to protect your interests. The situation is highly unfavorable for us right now, and it’s better to sacrifice one than to have both convicted.”
In the end, he glanced at Henry Jameson and said quietly, “If Mr. Jameson truly loves you that much, I think he would be willing to make a sacrifice for you…”
“What did you say?!” Henry Jameson was shocked.
“Stay calm,” Purple Summers said weakly from the side.
“Calm? He just accused me of murder in front of the jury! How can I stay calm?!” Henry Jameson could hardly believe what was happening to him, “Now everyone will think I’m blinded by jealousy! That I’m a murderer! What are they going to sentence me to? Ten years? Twenty years? Life imprisonment or the death penalty?!”
Noelle Nichols started to cry, “I really didn’t know it would turn out like this!”
The break room was filled with Henry Jameson’s roars and Noelle Nichols’s tears, and Purple Summers felt annoyed and bothered by the noise.
“Mr. Ross, that move of yours was terribly inept,” Purple Summers said coldly, glancing at Austin Ross.
“Ms. Simonson, as long as this method works, it doesn’t matter how inept it is,” Austin Ross replied gravely, “The prosecution’s theory is conspiracy to murder, remember, conspiracy! As long as we attack each other, leaving the jury with the impression that there can only be one perpetrator, they will hesitate. They can’t decide who did it! They can’t be sure who the murderer is! Once reasonable doubt is introduced, we might just get a not guilty verdict. This could be our saving grace!”
“What a saving grace,” Purple Summers said expressionlessly, “To be precise, it should be your client finding salvation at the expense of mine facing life in prison.”
Austin Ross explained, “Ms. Simonson, I understand your anger, but I am merely fulfilling my duty as an attorney. You can also cross-examine my client. Just smudge the focus of the jury, and we can fight for a chance.”

“I am not angry,” Purple Summers said as she forced a smile, looking as though she might laugh, “If you had informed me ahead of time, I might have been willing to put on a show with you, but you ambushed us at the last minute, I just find you despicable. Mr. Ross, it’s been a pleasure working with you, and I hope we never have to work together again.”
Purple Summers stood up and walked out.
Henry Jameson looked at Austin Ross then at Noelle Nichols, feeling both irritated and angry, and followed Purple Summers out of the break room.
“What do we do now?” Henry Jameson caught up with Purple Summers and asked.
Purple Summers stopped, glanced at him and said, “You never told me, Noelle Nichols lived with Sean Patterson.”
“I thought it was irrelevant to the case!” Henry Jameson’s eyes widened, “It wasn’t intentional concealment!”
“What about the video?” Purple Summers asked him, “You’re telling me you had no idea you were being filmed?”
Henry Jameson raised his hands and said again, “I really didn’t know! I only found out about the video today, I swear!”
After thinking for a moment, Purple Summers said, “You don’t need to take the stand later, I will cross-examine Noelle Nichols.”
Henry Jameson’s face changed slightly, and he asked nervously, “You’re not planning to accuse Hannah of murder, are you? Just like he accused me…”
Purple Summers rolled her eyes, exasperated, “Do you think the prosecutor is an idiot?”
