Forest Ranger, starting from Picking Up a Lynx Girl-Chapter 345 - 343: Is This Yard Planted with Catnip?
Chapter 345 -343: Is This Yard Planted with Catnip?
Half an hour later, the staff from the Forest Farm came to inform that the leopard had returned.
This time it even brought a welcome gift.
Chen Ying stepped out with his hands in his pockets and thought, well, let’s have a moment of silence for the sika deer herd.
A juvenile deer, quite sizable, enough for Leopard to eat a meal that could last three days.
It even knew not to eat alone, bringing it back to share with Chen Ying. This treatment was even better than that of a male leopard to a female.
Chen Ying dared not eat; one piece of meat, a minimum of three years.
The two, human and leopard, under the watch of a dozen pairs of eyes, began leisurely eating and chatting.
“Ow ow ow, this meat is delicious, sure you don’t want a bite?”
“You eat it yourself, I’m good with this.”
“What’s that thing, give me a bite?” Curious, Leopard moved closer, wanting to take a bite from Chen Ying’s hand.
“No, you can’t eat this. Wait, I’ll get something for you to try.”
Pushing away the bloodied face of the Leopard, Chen Ying broke a small piece of corn cob and placed it in front of him.
Leopard sniffed it, licked it, and spat it out!
“What is this, not tasty. Eat this; look at you, you’re so thin, even a wife wouldn’t find you.”
Chen Ying clutched his chest, glared at Leopard. freēnovelkiss.com
“Seems like you’re the one with a partner.”
“Hee hee hee, I actually do.” Leopard looked up and cried a few times, “Just left from three female leopards. Can’t do it anymore; need to eat well before I go.”
Not even charging money for stories like this? Details like that could get you banned.
Chen Ying wouldn’t go as far as jealousy, but felt a slight pang in his chest.
This leopard, shameless!
After finishing most of the meat, Leopard just threw the rest away.
It surprisingly wasn’t in a hurry to leave but consciously walked into the previously empty house, sniffed around every corner, jumped on the vacant bed, scratched the old blanket, and lay down to sleep.
Worried that it might suddenly jump out and hurt someone, Chen Ying went in to check the windows and then locked the door.
He secured the window with some wire, leaving a small gap for ventilation but making sure Leopard couldn’t crash through it.
Even if it did break it, the noise would be enough to alert the guards.
The village loudspeakers repeated the news over and over, and today the villagers gathered again to chat. They talked about how many years it had been since leopards and tigers entered the village, not expecting to see three tigers and a leopard within two days; their lives felt complete.
Some elderly spoke of past days when tigers were rampant, harming many livestock and poultry, leading to tiger eradication campaigns, and then, sighting fewer tigers, they began to think of ways to protect them.
The world changes in ways that baffle the mind.
The Forest Police got the message and along with the Wildlife Department set up checkpoints to protect the Northeast Leopard and prevent villagers from exciting the Leopard and causing accidents.
The filming crew was instructed to find another place to stay.
Chen Ying was indifferent, suspecting that if he moved, the Leopard would follow.
No way around it; his charm was irresistibly for any big cat.
Though Brother Ying might not have lady luck, he had encountered quite a few cat-eared girls; envy who you will.
The filming crew urgently met and the final decision was a fearful move; others could stay.
But those staying needed to be vigilant, not wandering around with the Leopard present; they could try shooting through gaps in windows or doors.
The guests were better off relocating, not for anything else but in case of a mishap, nobody could bear that responsibility.
When Chen Ying received the message, he simply spread his hands.
“You all go ahead, I’ll stay for now, otherwise I doubt moving you anywhere could help.”
Chen Ying looked around, there was a small room on the east side with a Kang, which wouldn’t cost much effort to heat.
He could just pull Leopard in here to avoid entering and exiting with others, keeping everyone so nervous they’d dare not open their doors.
Indeed, after moving to the little house, Leopard took walks outside during the early mornings and evenings while spending the days napping in the room.
The Kang wasn’t too hot; after all, animals have their fur coats and overheating could indeed be a problem.
At night, Chen Ying had to warm up a bit more to sleep, and the Leopard simply lay on the floor since the Kang kept the room much warmer than outside.
On the fourth day, they captured footage of a group of roe deer foraging in the woods.
Just as one naive roe deer noticed them and approached to get a clearer look, Bao Bao dropped from above, landed on the roe deer’s back, and bit through its neck from behind.
This brutal but real moment was captured on camera.
Before anyone could speak, they heard a tiger roar; Leopard, terrified, had wide eyes and tensed up on top of the roe deer, staring in the direction of the sound.
A majestic tiger with a striking coat emerged from the woods, exuding an overwhelming presence.
Leopard took a couple of steps back and confronted the Tiger.
Chen Ying and the filming crew were just behind the Leopard, directly under the tiger’s scrutinizing gaze.
(Heh, this foolish leopard has circled up so many two-legged beasts.)
The tiger slowly advanced, Leopard made a low threatening sound, but Brother Hu seemed oblivious, scanning the crew with a look of majesty tinged with curiosity.
The tiger had not been able to approach the leopard before the leopard howled mournfully, dropping Chen Ying and the others and turning to run, all the while howling for Chen Ying to quickly flee for his life.
The approaching tiger stopped next to the roe deer, bent down to sniff it, and before it could bite down, another tiger’s roar was heard nearby.
Huh, a mother?
Not just any mother, but a mother with cubs at that.
“Don’t mess with a mother tiger,” this saying has substantial merit.
The tiger hesitated for a moment, took a few brisk steps away, but seeming a bit reluctant, stopped again to watch.
It was still the same tigress with two cubs, emerging from another part of the forest, her cubs mimicking their mother’s menacing growl at the unfamiliar male tiger.
Truly unassailable, the male tiger, frustrated, turned around and ran off, kicking the snow on the ground as he went, raising clouds of snow mist.
Later, the sound of snow falling from trees was heard in the forest; probably the tiger was scratching tree trunks to sharpen his claws and vent his frustration.
Having chased off the rival male, the tigress went straight forward to enjoy her meal.
Who caught it didn’t matter, what mattered was who ended up eating it!
After eating about half, she left the rest for her two impatient cubs.
“Roar! You said last time you’d handle its leg for my cubs, when are you going to do it?”
Chen Ying went pale and glanced at Brother Hai, whose expression was somewhat strange.
“I can do it anytime, I’m ready. But will you let your cub go with me?”
“Take him now,” the tigress said a bit excitedly, flicking her tail, “Once you’re done, just send him back and I’ll know.”
Actually, she thought it would be fine to leave him somewhere else.
The tigress muttered inwardly that her cubs were almost capable of fending for themselves.
Normally, by the time the weather warmed up and food was plentiful, the cubs would leave her. It seemed a bit early now, but if it was for treating a wounded leg, the timing was right.
That two-legged beast had said, when he’s healed, it would be just as summer arrives, and upon returning, adjusting to the forest wouldn’t leave him hungry.
Maybe she would even allow him a few more months with her.
Don’t think the mother tiger couldn’t speak; her mind was clear.
Once decided, it should be done swiftly.
Before the tiger cub realized what was happening, its mother, cooperating with the two-legged beast, had it locked in a cage.
No, Mom, are you really okay selling your son so quickly?
The other cub was terrified, stepping on the remains of the roe deer and daring not take another bite.
The rangers from the forest farm and the veterinarian from Tiger Forest had been ready long before, and as soon as the cub was caged, he was immediately transported away, his face full of disbelief as he looked back at his mom and brother.
When the car engine started, the foolish cub finally realized what had happened and began to shriek, pleading that he would never steal food again or use his mom’s head to wipe his mouth…
The snarl on the mother tiger’s face twitched, and she could not help standing up with a roar, causing both cubs to shrink into two big fur balls.
Chen Ying almost hurt himself trying to stifle his laughter, but the people around him didn’t understand what they were saying and thought the tigress wanted to “rescue” the cub, hurriedly stepping on the accelerator to leave quickly, leaving only a trail of exhaust.
The film crew hiding nearby captured the whole process, and if this episode didn’t explode in popularity, the director vowed to live-stream himself doing something drastic.
After sending the cub off, the tigress was in a foul mood and couldn’t be bothered to chat with Chen Ying any longer, leading her other cub away without looking back.
In the lively forest, only disarrayed footprints remained, and a head staring defiantly at the heavens.
The rangers cleaned up the remnants of the roe deer, and everyone gathered their filming equipment to head back to the village.
Tomorrow they were going to the last place to see if they could encounter the Red-crowned Crane.
Although the leopard had run away without any loyalty, Chen Ying still chose to sleep in the small room that night.
The last meeting before shooting was still held on the big heated brick bed, combined with dinner.
“Brother Ying, between the Huanan Tiger from your area and the Northeast Tiger from here, which do you think is more handsome?”
Chen Ying didn’t hesitate to vote for the Huanan Tiger.
Not for any other reason; southern people naturally support the southern tiger, otherwise, when he returned, wouldn’t the Huanan Tiger grind its teeth on him?
“And the Northeast Leopard? Compared to the Flower Leopard that often appears around you, which one do you like more?”
Did that even need asking? Definitely Leopard Sister!
Even though Leopard Sister had been a bit wild lately, Leopard Sister was still Leopard Sister, her commanding presence silencing any challengers.
And besides, Leopard Sister and Brother Leopard were much more loyal than this one, who had fled at the first sign of trouble!
Just as Chen Ying finished his complaint, he looked up to meet a furry face outside the window.
It grinned, showing its slightly yellow fangs.
“Holy crap, why didn’t anyone call the police, when did this guy get here?”
Chen Ying’s chopsticks quivered, dropping a large piece of chicken onto the table, and without bothering to clean up, he hurriedly blocked the window with objects.
Seeing his actions, the others looked toward the window…
Honestly, if they didn’t wash this straw mat properly, it would reek of chicken grease when they slept.
Three minutes later, the village chief received the alert and sounded the village alarm.
“All households please be aware, a fierce tiger has entered the village. Everyone lock your doors and windows and do not move around outside arbitrarily.”
The warning was broadcast three times in succession, and the forest police’s car also stopped at the courtyard gate.
The newly installed courtyard lights came on, revealing the striking figure of the fierce tiger without a place to hide.
