"Come and sit. I have something to talk to you about," Ye Yunfeng said in a deep voice, slowly taking his seat.

Ye Feng nodded, walked over to the chair in front of Ye Yunfeng, and sat down.

"Do you blame me?" Ye Yunfeng asked slowly.

"Blame you for what?" Ye Feng asked, perplexed.

"For not telling you about our plans to deal with Xu Ke," Ye Yunfeng said, his eyelids drooping slightly, making it unclear where his gaze was fixed.

Ye Feng's heart tightened, but his expression remained unchanged. He shook his head and said, "I don't blame you, Dad. I trust you had your reasons for not involving me."

"Heh," Ye Yunfeng chuckled, his expression turning placid once more. "The reason I involved Chong'er and not you was so you could focus on handling the power vacuum left by Ye Fan without any distractions."

Ye Feng nodded. "You're right. If I had been involved, it would have certainly delayed more pressing matters."

Ye Yunfeng gave a slight nod. "But now that you've finished, I'm handing over the Li Family affair to you. Chong'er would likely bungle the cleanup, and he might even let Xu Ke discover something. I have more faith in your abilities."

"Make absolutely sure this fire doesn't burn our Ye Family," Ye Yunfeng added.

"No problem," Ye Feng nodded.

After giving his instructions, Ye Yunfeng smiled amiably. "By the way, were you shocked by my cultivation level?"

Ye Feng answered honestly, nodding. "Yes. I was definitely startled."

The smile on Ye Yunfeng's face widened. "I wasn't trying to hide it from you four. As the Ye Family Patriarch, it's only reasonable to keep a few cards up my sleeve. I hope you and Chong'er understand that my world can't revolve solely around you." 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

"I understand, Dad," Ye Feng said with a smile. "Knowing about your cultivation level is a great relief. At least now I don't have to be cowed by that old bastard, Ye Taiqing."

"What nonsense. He's your great-uncle," Ye Yunfeng chided gently, but his face held no trace of blame. Instead, he wore a smile as warm as a spring breeze.

Ye Feng just gave a playful laugh, not committing to an answer. The atmosphere between father and son instantly lightened. After a few more exchanges, Ye Yunfeng changed the subject. "By the way, has that Pan Jiani girl contacted you recently?"

"She has." At the mention of Pan Jiani, Ye Feng gave a wry smile. "She's been pushing for me to visit her in Jiangnan, but I told her I'm too busy. Then she offered to come to Tianhai to see me, but I said I'm swamped right now and that we could meet some other time."

"You should get a move on," Ye Yunfeng chuckled. "It's about time you gave your mother and me a grandchild."

At the mention of his parents, a shadow flickered across Ye Feng's eyes, but he quickly masked it with a smile. "Alright."

"Speaking of which, how is Qin Yu doing with her studies? Is everything going smoothly? Should I arrange a job for her in advance?" Ye Yunfeng asked.

Ye Feng gave a rueful smile. "Dad, you don't need to worry about that. Qin Yu has always been a dependable student. I hear she's interviewing with several companies for an internship, but I told her it's too dangerous out there and that she should just come work for the Ye Family."

"I agree. The vast Ye Family can certainly provide Xiao Yu with an excellent position."

"Exactly."

"Alright then. Since there's nothing you need my help with, you can work a little harder and help me out. Go on, get to it. And when you're finished, make sure to contact Jiani." Ye Yunfeng stood up and patted Ye Feng's shoulder from above.

Ye Feng felt his father's shadow fall over him, blocking the sunlight from the window. He instinctively lowered his head and nodded. "Yes!"

Then, he rose and departed.

As he watched Ye Feng's receding back, the smile on Ye Yunfeng's face never faltered.

Only when Ye Feng's back disappeared into the elevator and the hum of the ascending lift began did Ye Yunfeng's smile vanish completely. His face turned a deep, unsightly purple.

He stood, opened the door to the inner study, and pressed a button on the wall. A bookshelf slid aside, revealing a descending passageway. The passage led to the Ye Family's old war bunker, built long ago to escape the ravages of conflict.

Ye Yunfeng had since transformed the decrepit bunker. The old walls of packed earth and damp stone were gone, replaced by a modern steel corridor.

Ye Yunfeng walked through the steel passageway, descending deep underground. There, rows of tightly sealed coffins were laid out. Yet, despite the number of coffins, the chamber didn't feel morbid. Next to the caskets stood a row of shelves, and on them were arranged various pills and capsules.

These pills were identical to the capsules Wong Qiang, one of Qian Jun's subordinates, had taken during his fight with Xu Ke.

Ye Yunfeng took one, swallowed it, and closed his eyes. The tension in his face finally began to ease.

"You shouldn't have acted. Your data hasn't fully stabilized yet, don't you know that?" A middle-aged man in a white lab coat emerged from the shadows. He scoffed, "Besides, haven't you always loathed your third son? Why stick your neck out for him now?"

"If I hadn't intervened, Ye Taiqing's arrogance would have led him to move against me," Ye Yunfeng said, his eyes still closed.

"Perhaps. But Ye Taiqing is far too arrogant. To act so rashly just because he found a suspected call record with Xu Ke on Li Lang's phone... it was reckless."

"Heh. The Li Family has always been treacherous. Their deaths suit my purposes perfectly," Ye Yunfeng sneered.

Yin Ping nodded, then asked with interest, "By the way, do you suspect there's something wrong with your adopted son?"

"I don't just suspect him; I've suspected everyone under my command," Ye Yunfeng stated indifferently.

"True, you've always been the suspicious type." Yin Ping laughed heartily before continuing his own train of thought. "But honestly, there are legitimate reasons to be suspicious of Ye Feng."

"His own sister nearly died, yet he told you nothing. He lied to you for a whole year, claiming Qin Yu was fine."

"Old Ye, you should be careful. He might have been wary of you for a long time."

Ye Yunfeng scoffed. "Don't worry. Knowing my son, if he truly suspected me of trying to murder his sister, he would have already tipped his hand."

"I watched Qin Yu grow up. She's just like Ye Feng—soft-hearted and afraid of burdening others. If I'm not mistaken, she likely hid the truth from him after her narrow escape from death because she was afraid of implicating him.

"After all, didn't that Pan Jiani girl say she had a change of heart at the last minute and let Qin Yu live?"

"True, true. From what I can see, the boy is still quite fond of you," Yin Ping nodded, then laughed. "You're truly ruthless, scheming against your own son to such a degree. You're really one of a kind.

"I'm genuinely worried you'll scheme me to death one day."

"Heh." Ye Yunfeng gave a cold laugh but didn't respond to Yin Ping this time. He simply opened his eyes, moved to the side of a coffin, and sat down cross-legged to begin his breathing and cultivation exercises.

Meanwhile, Yin Ping pulled a long tube from the base of the coffin, attached a needle to it, and inserted the needle into Ye Yunfeng's body.

When Xu Ke finally arrived at the Martial Alliance, he burst through the door and eagerly demanded, "What's the situation?"

Duan Chongfeng, who was also present, took a deep breath. "An hour ago, we received a report. In the Li Family's villa, the father and son hanged themselves."
