Flower City's Peerless Divine Doctor-Chapter 672: Helpless Girl
Li Chen hesitated for a moment.
It seemed she was truly befuddled by the drink and didn't even recognize herself.
"What's the matter with you? Get up and talk, come on!"
As he spoke, he helped the girl up from the ground, pulling at her delicate arm. Just as she was pulled up, she stumbled back into his arms.
His chest was pressed against round mounds, soft, firm, and a bit distracting.
Remembering how she had flirted with him last time, following the principle that only a fool would refuse a windfall, his arm went around her exposed waist.
Her slender waist lacked any excess fat yet kept the plumpness of a youthful girl; the touch was incredibly comforting to his fingertips.
His hand moved lower, encountering her taut buttocks.
Every part of a young girl's body exuded a sense of firmness.
He gently pinched it, finding the sensation too comforting.
Just then, six or seven boys and girls, around seventeen or eighteen years old, caught up from behind.
More boys than girls.
The girls were dressed provocatively, with garish makeup, some with tattoos, while the boys casually held cigarettes, their hair bleached, looking rowdy and insolent.
They all reeked of booze.
Seeing this, Li Chen surmised that the girl must have been with these people before.
As for why she had run out in such a mess, he had a fairly good idea.
"Dude, this ain't your business, put down the chick in your arms, and we won't make it hard for you, just beat it!"
Blondie, with a cigarette in his mouth, saw the girl in Li Chen's arms, gave a sideways glance, and spoke in a sleazy way.
With a beauty before him, he couldn't be bothered to deal with Li Chen, an uninvited troublemaker; he just wanted to take the beauty back and enjoy her with his buddies.
Upon hearing this voice, the girl in Li Chen's arms trembled.
Her eyes, though still hazy, regained some clarity, and she looked up at Li Chen and said, "Big brother, please don't leave me behind, I beg you..."
As she spoke, her voice was tinged with sobs, and she was somewhat shivering.
"Don't worry, I won't hand you over to them."
Li Chen smiled slightly, comforting the girl in his embrace.
From the very first time he met her on the bus, where she had the look of a little gangster girl, to their encounters on the bus, in the clinic, and now as she ran away from these people, she didn't seem like the promiscuous type.
This made his fondness for her grow a bit more, and he asked, looking down, "What's your name?"
"I'm Fang Yan."
After saying this, the girl clung to Li Chen even tighter.
Her mind was muddled, but the man's gentle voice by her ear gave her an inexplicable sense of security.
She even looked up and flashed a smile, as adorable as a blooming flower.
Seeing that smile, Li Chen's eyes lit up, and in his mind, there was only one thought— he absolutely couldn't let these punks sully this girl.
At that moment, Blondie on the other side saw Li Chen ignoring him and talking to the girl instead. The anger from being dismissed surged in his heart.
"Kid, are you asking for it? Get lost quick, and don't fucking meddle around here, or you're asking for a beating!"
Li Chen scoffed.
Watching the youngsters rolling up their sleeves, ready to fight, he had no intention to play their game, "This girl is my friend, and I'm taking her away!"
"Friend? Mister, who are you kidding? I didn't know Yanyan had a friend like you."
Upon hearing the term "mister," Li Chen was taken aback—just a four or five-year difference, and he was already called a "mister"?
Are kids these days all like this?
Looking at the girl who had spoken, she wasn't ugly by her features, but her flashy get-up and the cigarette hanging from her lips gave off a tacky air, ruining the beauty of youthful innocence.
He looked down at the girl in his arms and asked, "You know her?"
"Mhm! She's my classmate," Fang Yan nodded her head.
"Yanyan, we agreed to hang out together, what are you doing? Brother Dong is going to take us to have even more fun, come on over." The girl with a cigarette in her mouth called out to Fang Yan.
"I... I'm not going anymore, I won't hang out with you all."
Hearing the words "even more fun," Fang Yan's body trembled as she looked up at Li Chen, "Big brother, please don't leave me behind, I only know her, they want to... to... I won't go with them."
"Hear that clearly? She's not going with you, so I'm taking her away."
Li Chen dropped the statement, wrapped an arm around Fang Yan, and turned to leave.
"Motherfucker, you're taking me for a joke, huh!"
Blondie, the leader, couldn't take it anymore and charged toward Li Chen.
Even from behind, Li Chen's hearing was incredibly sharp. He frowned; these youngsters always resort to violence at the slightest disagreement.
He didn't want to get entangled with them, but it seemed impossible to just walk away now.
If that's the case...
With one arm around Fang Yan, he suddenly spun around and lashed out with a kick.
Blondie didn't have time to react, and his forward momentum sent him uncontrollably flying backward, tumbling over in a mess.
"Scram!"
He barked coldly and walked away with Fang Yan.
That kick thoroughly intimidated the group of boys and girls, none of whom dared to follow. They quickly helped Blondie up instead.
"Brother Dong..."
"What the fuck are you guys waiting for, get your asses over here, or you want to die standing?"
Blondie snarled in pain, his entire body aching, yelling at the people around him.
"Brother Dong, this guy seems pretty tough, I don't think we can take him."
"You motherf..."
Blondie was furious. Looking towards the departing Li Chen, he said, "Kid, you've got the guts not to walk away, daring to hit me. Do you know who my dad is?"
Li Chen heard the angry shouts but just gave an indifferent smile.
Not bothering to respond, he carried Fang Yan away.
"Big brother, thank you!"
Having escaped danger, Fang Yan breathed a sigh of relief, looking up with gratitude.
Her tense heart settled back down, and the alcohol took over again, making her feel dizzy as she leaned into Li Chen's embrace, as if she were drunk.
"Hold on, where's your home? I'll take you back." Li Chen shook the limp form in his arms and asked urgently.
"I... I'm not going back." Fang Yan sobered up a bit, seeming to recall something, her voice tinged with the onset of tears.
"What's wrong?" Li Chen touched her head gently and asked softly.
Gone was the earlier vivaciousness, replaced with the sentimental delicateness of a young girl, and Li Chen grew curious.
Seeing she didn't speak, he asked again, "I just saved you, is there anything you can't tell me? If you're in trouble, maybe I can help. Such a beautiful girl, I can't bear to leave you on the side of the road."
To a mature woman, these words held no sway, but they meant something different to a girl in her teens.
"My mom doesn't want me anymore, I have no home, boo hoo..."
"Big brother, please don't abandon me, okay? I'm afraid to be alone..."
Fang Yan sobbed, burying her face in Li Chen's chest, and started crying again.
Crying turned to quiet tears, and gradually she fell asleep just like that.
What to do now?

Li Chen was at a loss for words.
After a moment of thought, he realized he couldn't just abandon her, flagged down a car, and headed for the rented house.
