Flirted Wrong, Married Right-Chapter 826: Breaking Promises
After the secretary finished speaking, she realized she might have misspoken a bit.
She anxiously looked at May, "You absolutely must not tell anyone! You have such a good relationship with young Director Sinclair, you can’t go around gossiping!"
May hurriedly made a silencing gesture, signaling she understood.
Seeing the secretary still looked a bit uneasy, May quickly said, "Don’t worry, don’t worry, I definitely won’t tell anyone! Sister Evelyn has told me many secrets, and I haven’t told anyone! And as you said, since I have such a good relationship with Sister Evelyn, how could I go around telling others?"
Only then did the secretary feel a little more at ease.
"It seems young Director Sinclair had quite a rough past, and it only got slightly better after meeting the Sinclair Family. So even though they haven’t known each other for long, their relationship is really deep," the secretary remarked with some emotion, "Speaking of which, I was quite surprised when I first found out about young Director Sinclair’s identity."
May laughed, "Why do you say that?"
"Because at the time, I always thought young Director Sinclair was Director Sinclair’s wife!" the secretary exclaimed with emotion, "Back then, I thought all the girls in the company who had a crush on Director Sinclair would be heartbroken. After all, you wouldn’t know how adorable young Director Sinclair’s daughter is! When I first saw her, I instinctively thought she was born to young Director Sinclair and Director Sinclair!"
May’s strong curiosity drove her, and she couldn’t hold back from asking, "Sister Evelyn actually told me before that she has a daughter. I just never dared to ask, who is Sister Evelyn’s daughter’s father?"
The secretary glanced around and whispered, "Do you remember that handsome guy who came to the company looking for Sister Evelyn before?"
May was momentarily confused, then suddenly recalled something.
"Are you talking about the one with the last name Gu? Is it that person?" May’s eyes widened in shock, "Could it be him—"
The secretary quickly shushed her with a straight face, "I didn’t say anything!"
May was so shocked she couldn’t close her mouth.
Meanwhile, the two people in the office were sitting in silence, eating their meals.
Pauline Warren brought a sumptuous meal for her son and daughter, just like they usually had at home, but the dining table was silent, and the atmosphere was inexplicably tense.
Shane Sinclair didn’t know what to say, feeling burdened, while Evelyn Clayton felt something was off since Shane came over in the afternoon, so she also didn’t feel like speaking.
Previously, Yara Reagan had mentioned something was off about Shane, and although Evelyn didn’t want to believe it, a shadow of doubt lingered in her mind.
So now, any unusual behavior from Shane was magnified in Evelyn’s eyes.
She really hoped she was just overthinking it.
If Shane truly had those kinds of feelings...
She genuinely couldn’t respond to them.
"Um..."
Finally, Shane broke the silence and spoke up.
Evelyn suddenly looked up at him, but Shane swallowed the words back.
Noticing the atmosphere growing tenser, Evelyn smiled, feigning a relaxed tone, "Brother, what’s up with you today? You seem burdened with thoughts."
The single word "brother" caused a slight dimming in Shane’s eyes.
He didn’t hide it well, so the change was caught by Evelyn, pulling her mood further down.
Shane himself didn’t notice and quickly adjusted his expression.
"It’s nothing," Shane smiled, "It’s just that Mom called today and asked if you could attend the wedding with me. I don’t have a date, so I’d be grateful if you could accompany me."
