Flirted Wrong, Married Right-Chapter 809: No Objections
James Grant did as he was told.
He had never stared at his phone for so long before, and he was reluctant to put it down, afraid of missing any message from the other side.
However, when James Grant finally added Sharon on WeChat and wanted to say something more to Evelyn Clayton, it seemed she had already left, and there was no response.
After sending the last message "Good night," James Grant reluctantly prepared to turn off his phone and go to sleep.
Just as he put it down, the phone rang once more.
James Grant’s slight drowsiness instantly vanished, and he quickly picked up the phone to check.
It was still from Evelyn Clayton.
It was long, but every word was about Sharon.
Including what Sharon likes to eat, what she dislikes, her usual habits, what she’s currently learning, her progress — nothing was left out.
As James Grant read through it, his initial happiness gradually turned into an ache.
If he regretted missing Sharon’s growth before, now it was a deep, painful regret.
His child, the person he loved, had been through so much beyond his sight.
James Grant didn’t know what else to reply; he pondered for a long time and solemnly sent: I will remember, don’t worry.
After a while, Evelyn Clayton replied with a "Okay."
The response wasn’t much different from before, but James Grant inexplicably felt it was different.
On the other side, Evelyn Clayton turned off her phone, and upon seeing the peaceful sleeping face of Sharon in bed, she couldn’t help but show a gentle smile.
She could clearly feel that Sharon was very much looking forward to and happy about getting along with James Grant.
Since Sharon was happy, she had no objections.
Evelyn Clayton leaned down and kissed Sharon’s forehead, then got up and went out of the room.
Just as she got downstairs, Shane Sinclair arrived.
His expression seemed somewhat heavy.
Seeing this, Evelyn Clayton couldn’t help but become a bit more serious, "What’s wrong?"
"The result of the car accident on the Aethelburg highway is out." Shane Sinclair sighed slightly, "The deceased is Jack Shaw."
As he spoke, Shane Sinclair handed his phone to Evelyn Clayton.
Evelyn Clayton took it and saw that the screen displayed Jack Shaw’s autopsy report. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
"The report shows he died due to a severe impact, ruling out the possibility of murder." Shane Sinclair frowned deeply, "I’ve already arranged for someone to find the car he drove before his death, the results should come out soon. During this time, Sharon should refrain from going out or going online."
Evelyn Clayton returned the phone to Shane Sinclair and, upon hearing this, opened her mouth instinctively to ask something, but then thought it unnecessary.
Not going out or online meant that Jack Shaw’s unexplained death had already affected Sharon, who had withdrawn from Genesis Academy.
Evelyn Clayton paused before asking, "Have you contacted Sharon’s former headteacher?"
"Not yet," Shane Sinclair’s face grew even more severe, "We can’t even determine if they’re alive or dead at the moment. But don’t worry, I’ll expedite it."
After a moment of contemplation, Shane Sinclair hesitated further, "Do we need to offer condolences to Jack Shaw’s family?"
Evelyn Clayton thought for a while and shook her head, "There’s no need. If Principal Shaw invites us when they hold a funeral, we can attend then. If we go now to express condolences, it might be misconstrued as guilt by those with ill intent."
The Sinclair Family didn’t have any deep ties with Jack Shaw. Previously, it was purely because of Sharon attending Genesis Academy that there was more interaction.
"Alright, I understand." Shane Sinclair nodded and, seeing Evelyn Clayton’s frown, offered some comfort.
"The day after tomorrow is the shareholders’ meeting, just focus on preparing for that. Mom will take care of Sharon, don’t worry."
Evelyn Clayton smiled without saying a word, but her heart filled with sincere concern.
Given Pauline Warren’s caution regarding Sharon...
