Flip the Coin [BL]-Chapter 450. Alright again
After a few shaky breaths, I forced my upper body to rise, giving Ren the chance to slip out from behind me.
"Get the doctor, staff sergeant ... and laptop." I retched a few times, feeling that my body was severely damaged.
Ren wiggled away before standing up and sprinting out of the room while I covered my mouth with one hand and pulled my shirt up with the other.
Uninjured skin, uninjured muscles, and no sign of any stabbing or piercing left behind by the thorns.
Contrary to the small scar left behind by the Maestro himself, his space didn’t seem to injure me at all.
Then this blood vomiting was probably from power overuse.
Damn, I am feeling like a beaten cultivator with all that blood spurting.
I pulled the shirt back down and covered myself with the blanket, already hearing steps and the staff sergeant entering, while upstairs Ren was slamming against a door that was probably leading to the doctor’s room.
Before the staff sergeant could enter, Kitty forced himself past him and halted before the mattress, looking straight at me.
.....
"What happened?" The staff sergeant was holding the open laptop and put it on the mattress in alarm before coming to my side and taking a look at the bucket in my arms.
Yeah, the whole room should now not reek of vomit but more of blood.
"It’s alright." I groaned, ripping my eyes away from Kitty before vomiting another batch.
Then I glanced at the screen and found Henry typing away on his phone, and when I grabbed the unlocked phone, I found myself bombarded with messages.
He was asking how I was, what news I had, if I was really back, if I would really stay at home now and obediently wait, if he should come right now, etc., pp.
I grinned and typed weakly that he should give me a moment.
The staff sergeant asked me something, but I didn’t register what he said as I stared at Henry on the screen, who looked at his phone, typed something before stopping, pocketing his phone, then took it out again to stare at it, then typed something, stopping, staring.
Looking at my phone, I only saw the dots jumping but no new message, as he really gave me some time, constantly typing and then erasing it—it was the cutest thing ever.
I laughed out loud when the mattress at the end of the bed sunk considerably.
I looked up and met Kitty’s red eyes, two of his paws on the mattress as if he demanded attention....
Are you kidding me???
You think now is a good time for asking for a treat? I am even more unable to raise my trembling arms than I was at the beginning of the day?!?
Full of complaints but too weak to voice them, I glared at the tiger and saw him gazing from me to the bucket in my hands, then back to me.
I followed his gaze and looked at the blood that had gathered inside before looking back at Kitty.
.....
I weakly tilted the bucket a bit to the left and saw Kitty following it with his eyes; tilting it to the right, his gaze was still fixated on it.
What is wrong with the puppies and kitties around me? One human puppy eats monster eyeballs or raw potatoes; the catlike tiger demands vomited blood to be placated while waiting eagerly for thirteen-year-old carp.
"Fine..." I croaked and saw Kitty sneaking at the bucket before burying his snout in it, as if wearing a muzzle.
The staff sergeant jumped to the side, looking all unwell watching the scene before his eyes.
But as disgusting as it was, Kitty was happy, and my blood shouldn’t be in the open—meaning outside my body—for too long, in case some surviving rats or worms were still out there.
"Go... upstairs." With a scrunched-up face, I changed the ’go away’ on the tip of my tongue, in fear the tiger would bring the bucket out of the house.
Watching him, I felt my stomach revolting again, but I forced myself to relax and breathe calmly, as I didn’t want to continue to vomit.
Kitty had enough awareness at least, and while the bucket was fixedly pressed against his snout, he left the room, earning himself a scream from the doctor who had just wanted to enter.
Ren hurried in first and crashed into me, nearly rendering me unconscious, with the pale doctor following.
He even foresightedly directly brought the IV thing and a few solutions.
When he came to my side, he furrowed his brows while I lay there lifelessly.
"He seems to have vomited blood," the staff sergeant said before glancing at the laptop screen on the mattress.
He couldn’t have a comfortable look from his position, with it askew while half on the blanket and half on the mattress, a bit too far away.
The doctor asked a few things, but it didn’t really register in my mind, as I whispered to Ren,
"Are you... strong enough to bring two chairs? For...the staff sergeant... and the laptop?"
The little one let go, and I felt the air coming to me much more easily.
He looked at me for a moment before running out again.
I glanced at the laptop while my arm was grabbed by the doctor as he put me on the IV when I didn’t partake in answering questions.
Then he pulled my shirt up and pressed on my stomach, just like he had done with Jeyjey after I had kicked her.
I grabbed my phone, trying to type, but seeing that this wouldn’t bring me anywhere with my trembling hands, I switched to the voice-to-text function, hoping it would work properly enough.
The doctor opened my mouth and looked into my throat before doing whatever.
Just like last time, my temperature soared, but everything was fine as long as the crystalline surface was alright.
I won’t do shit anymore; I will never overexert my power again.
I couldn’t lose consciousness before informing Henry in case I really lost consciousness—at the same time, I could ABSOLUTELY NOT lose consciousness because that would probably get me back into a Maestro’s space.
The kid brought a chair, and the staff sergeant hurriedly helped him and took it over, placing it beside the bed, and Ren went for the laptop to put it on top of the new chair.
Then he went out for the second chair I had requested, but the staff sergeant followed him.
Holding my phone to my mouth, I tested the speech-to-text function.
"They are in a factory; they have the collars; our Dr. Lawrence and Gothic Girl are there as well. She saw my eyes; she told me to come this night."
Looking at the blurring display, I found that it had mostly worked, and I sent the text.
Wait, I could just tell the staff sergeant to write it, or better, tell him to tell Henry.
He came back carrying another chair while Ren was holding onto the stool leg, providing help no matter how little.
The kid came back to the mattress, but this time, he didn’t throw himself on me; instead, he curled up beside me.
The staff sergeant placed and then took a seat on the new chair, and hearing me speak, he bent down to me.
"Tonight, our Dr. Lawrence—they have collars; Henry can’t go alone. Tell him to wake me up."
"The Maestro—tell him the Maestro makes spaces..." I licked my dry lips, asking myself what I wanted to say and if I had forgotten anything, when the phone slipped out of my hand to my chest.
I looked at it in a daze, and the staff sergeant leaned farther forward to take it.
"Should I text him that?"
I nodded, feeling my head thrumming at the motion.
"I made a space with the zombies... and so does he." I closed my eyes.
I told myself, ’If you have to rest, then sleep; don’t fall unconscious’—I really wasn’t able to withstand another round of spikes or whatever.
"I saw the Maestro’s memories... planes fell from the sky..."
I heard the staff sergeant’s fingers tapping on the screen of my phone before forcing my eyelids open to look at the laptop, but it had also blurred.
"I calmed down by myself... tell Henry that..." My throat was so parched, but I didn’t feel like drinking. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
"I nearly freaked out but calmed down...by myself..."
No, not really by myself.
Without the deep trust in him, or better said, in his intense, twisted, super-gay, devoted, scalding feelings towards me, I wouldn’t be able to serve the paranoia with an uno-reverse card to finally shut up the constant fear and suspicion.
How could everybody betray me when there was one stubborn, twisted puppy constantly hanging from my neck, wincing when I moved away and wagging his tail when I so much as just looked at him?
"It was alright again..." I murmured, nearly dozing off when at some point the staff sergeant called me a few times while softly shaking my shoulder.
"Kennith? Kenny?"
"Hm?" I asked back with closed eyes when I finally registered that it was me he was addressing.
"Henry said that he understood and that they are nearly finished. He wants you to know that you will be a free man soon."
"Tell him..." I whispered, not sure if the staff sergeant did get what I was trying to say, as I was not really there, just dead tired and cold as fuck without the big puppy hugging and nibbling me to death.
"... I thought of him, and it was alright again."
