Chapter 341: 341. II Marionette (by The Blake Robinson Synthetic Orchestra)

Henry’s POV

What are you...?

Whatever his intention was, it worked. The spider moved, its long legs lifting, but instead of staying motionless for seconds to attack, they came down again.

Instead of attacking rapidly and disappearing into the debris and earth, the hands stopped on the ground, providing ground for the spider to move forward, toward its caller.

I instantly wanted to teleport between them, but when I tried, I couldn’t move.

What the fuck are you doing?

When I tried to run, I couldn’t move either.

I was fully paralyzed while the spider made its way to the shield; each time the spider’s legs came down, the ground shook.

I tried to open my mouth and scream for him to stop whatever he was doing, but not even that was possible.

Furious and horrified I glanced up at the spider, then back at the shield, but there was no Kenny anymore, only the girl staring in terror at the spider, and Henrietta still in the same state she had been in the whole time.

Now I was really panicked, the dread washing through my body as I felt close to losing my mind.

WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?

I felt a presence behind me and fell to my knees involuntarily, as if I were led to do it.

The next second, I felt a sharp pain in my neck as arms circled around me possessively.

Still unmoving, I already knew it was Kenny who sank his teeth into me, but I couldn’t understand, unable to fathom what was going on here and why I was unable to move.

But the pain in my neck gave me assurance; the hope that he was taking my blood to gain strength and get better relieved me, yet I feared the reason why he was acting like this.

Because he should have the collar on him, he should be unable to teleport.

Because it hadn’t been long since his mind had stabilized through the crystalline counterpart.

So, what happened?

Where does this power come from, and are you still yourself?

When he let go, I heard him moan with satisfaction behind me, above me.

The spider had already arrived, hovering over the shield.

The moment I feared he would fight it alone, with either the giant inside him or having lost his mind, my head moved to the side. My jaw was gripped, and lips landed on mine.

This time it was him transferring his blood to me as if we were exchanging a promise, a bloody vow.

The power flooded down my throat, my hearing intensified, and my body screamed with POWER, POWER, POWER!

I was yanked up into the godly realm in an instant as the overpowering blessing rushed through my veins.

But I didn’t even have time to look at him as my body moved, as I ripped myself away from him and stood up.

I still felt him behind me, although I had already distanced myself from him.

My legs moved on their own as I ran to the spider, then jumped over the massive, gigantic bony legs—jumping higher than I had ever been able to.

My arms moved as I was high in the air, my hands reaching for the skulls to hold myself on the side of the tower.

The skull rows on the body still turned in a circle, and every few rows, the direction changed, bringing my body with it, giving me the chance to glance at Kenny as I swiftly climbed up.

He was still on the ground, a bloodthirsty smile on his face, his red eyes having taken on a violet hue as they were fixed on me with an intensity that made me shudder with excitement.

He finally used me.

My body was on fire when I understood that the emotional control he had since forever over me was now passed on to my body as well.

Each of my actions was led by him; each move was made by him.

My body wasn’t mine anymore, as he was the master, as God was acting through me.

AS WE HAD BECOME ONE.

I couldn’t look long at the pristine picture he displayed before the movement of the tower forced him out of my view.

My own feelings overwhelmed me so much as I was desperately trying to digest what was happening at the moment.

When the skull rows turned, and I could glance at the spot he had stood in—he wasn’t there anymore.

I searched for him while my body moved, only able to slightly control where I was looking, and that was when I saw him cut off one of the spider legs with the sword he had used on the Bone Dragon, the blade glistening with black shadowy energy.

He used the memory from when I had already enchanted the sword.

The euphoria and the exhilaration hit me deeply—was my power the key to defeating this monster?

Every one of my cells vibrated with elation, the shadowy energy humming happily.

I climbed higher and higher, only now noticing that the height of the tower seemed to grow, although there were no visible bones springing into place. There was also not the sound that it had produced when doing so, yet the Skull Tower had become as tall as the skyscrapers had been.

Higher and higher, it felt endless until I reached the top, but it happened quickly because my body moved at a speed I shouldn’t have been able to use.

When I was on the top, facing a whole skeleton, not just a skull, my hand moved; my power was activated by him.

The shadowy energy rushed out of my palm as I was guided to act, to fight, bringing with it destruction that was not only concentrated on the target but on everything in the vicinity.

It felt as if it were sucking away not only air but life itself—from the monster, from the vicinity, and from this world.

The white skeleton disappeared instantly, and my power exploded, up and down, to each side, before focusing and rushing down.

I fell, together with my power, from so fucking high up; I fell along the skull tower, bringing the tide of destruction as everything crumbled beneath my feet.

The wind swirled around me; my power broke completely free.

It was as if I had been kicked out of the godly realm because I had designs on the mightiest of beings.

I laughed out loud, able to move during my fall as I watched the tower disappear, from the white bones on the top down to the black ones, from light to darkness—I took EVERYTHING with me.

The ground came closer and closer, the human realm so near, but I could still feel it: God’s hand guiding me, moving me, leading me, using me, CONTROLLING ME, MERGING WITH ME, AND DEVOURING ME. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

I think I have never felt this FREE before.

I couldn’t see any details as I fell so rapidly, so fast that I would soon arrive and be shattered by the arrogance I had proven to have, as I did merge with something that shouldn’t be touched or possessed.

I knew deep inside me that I would get caught one way or another, that the hand guiding me wouldn’t let me shatter on something so simple as the ground.

Because even if I desired something that wasn’t to be touched or possessed, I had already achieved what nobody had before.

I had seduced my god into wanting to TOUCH ME, into wanting to POSSESS ME!

My fall slowed down, as I already had expected; the tide of destruction I rode calmed slowly and steadily, carrying me securely to the ground before it expanded to the side, annihilating what was left of the monster, together with the debris around us.

Raindrops fell from the sky, the eye of the storm apparently having moved over us.

I instantly found the bright red eyes with the violet hue in them and a sword in his hand as he stepped toward me, coming to his biggest believer.

I fell to my knees, not sure if my body was still controlled, if it was an instinctual reaction in front of raw power, or if I was simply doing what I always wanted to do when infatuation overwhelmed me—to kneel and spread my arms so that I would be hugged tightly and never let go.

Yet contrary to my wishes, my body tilted ahead before he had reached me, my hands now on the black earth.

I heard him clearly amidst the intensifying rain and felt feverish with each step that brought him closer to me as I stared at the earth, paralyzed into stillness.

Eventually, FINALLY, he was in front of me as I looked at his dirty sneakers, not minding if I had to either lick them or get kicked, as long as it was Kenny doing it.

But neither granting me the carrot nor the stick, he crouched down in front of me and put his hand on mine on the earth, making me tremble because his touch felt intensified by his blood or my undying desire for more.

That was when I could feel it; in the ground they were, deep down they were, wanting to come to the surface and gain life.

How they wiggled and moved, slowly fighting for a chance to be part of something more, something BIGGER, something BEYOND the darkness they had lived in for so long.

The countless bones that were buried and forgotten, only for more bones to follow and then become a distant memory of the bones that would follow next.

I could feel them all as I stared at the earth, as I felt the rain pattering down on me, as I felt Kenny’s hand on mine, and as my power broke out of my hand, right into the earth, to destroy their hope of ever existing and living as part of something else.

My power drained out of me; the deeper it seeped into the earth, the more bones were destroyed, the more shadowy energy was sucked out of my body, the weaker I felt, the sleepier I got, and the more I wanted to rest in my god’s arms.

Although I could feel them, I had no pity in me, as they would grow into something that would become more and more dangerous.

In the end, what had been buried should stay buried, shouldn’t it?

Be gone, buried and forgotten, destroyed and eradicated, to then ascend as an entirely new life form, somewhere the sun welcomes you the moment you become aware, where you don’t have to fight nor have to be restricted, where you can live for yourself and be happy and fulfilled with it.
