Flip the Coin [BL]-Chapter 220. Paw
"Kenny."
I turned my body away from the voice waking me up, wanting to sleep a bit longer.
"Kenny, wake up; we are going to eat breakfast."
"Not hungry," I said raspily.
"No, you’ll have to eat." The voice turned stern.
"Go away." I hid under the blanket and heard Henry break into laughter.
Then, not only was my blanket ripped away, but a hand circled around my wrist, and I was pulled into strong arms.
"What is wrong with you?" I asked, forcing my eyes open only to meet a smiling face.
"I said we’ll have to eat." Henry lifted me and carried me to the bathroom, where he pointed at the toothbrush.
"Can you do it yourself, or do you need my help?" He challenged me.
"Yeah, yeah." Looking into the mirror, I found that I looked better than yesterday—no idea why.
I brushed my teeth and ignored Henry watching me as he sat on the closed toilet.
"We haven’t seen Sebastian yet." He commented.
"Athena too," I said, spitting out a bit of toothpaste.
I saw Henry press his lips together at the mention of her name.
"She took off after we came back."
"Ah. Still, maybe Baggy Jeans is just in another group?" There had to be more than the one Henry and I were in; for example, the one we had seen through our room window yesterday, doing sports.
"I doubt it. He didn’t look alright the last time. I think the link and stuff damaged his mind," Henry said cryptically, but I understood.
Sebastian didn’t react well after receiving the memories of his shadow counterpart.
"He tried to rape Red-Hair in the Deer-Monster world."
I froze.
"What? When?" This I had no knowledge of.
"While you slept." Henry leaned forward and placed his elbows on his thighs.
"Why did he take it worse than the others?" Sebastian didn’t seem the type to do something like that.
"I think it has to do with character and such."
"Yeah." I rinsed the toothbrush and my mouth before washing my face.
After going outside, I found that my clothes for today were on my bed. Henry had probably placed them there when he had woken me up so unfeelingly.
I took my pajamas off and changed into them, and when I turned around, I found that Henry had been watching me, looking at me with his arms crossed as he leaned against the door motionlessly.
"Seen enough?" I asked with raised brows.
"There is much more to see since you got yourself tattoos." He said, as if this wasn’t crap he just came up with.
"Mhm, especially since I have no new tattoos on my back." I chuckled at his bullshit and put on the white sneakers.
Now, like in the laboratory, we were all in white. My white smartwatch was placed on my nightstand, and I put it on, all ready for some brainwashing of the day.
Henry knocked against the door, and it was unlocked by the two male nurses from yesterday.
"Where is the dining room?"
"First floor," I answered together with the nurse, and Henry nodded, walking ahead.
Seeing that the nurses didn’t make a move, I followed him, unaccustomed to not having him hanging on my body. We entered the elevator, and he was still standing across from me, observing me.
"What?"
"Nothing." He averted his eyes.
"Did I do something strange while sleeping?" I asked him.
"...You cried. You didn’t do that while sleeping in the mansion, so I was worried."
My heart skipped a beat, a sudden fear surfacing that I had talked about unnecessary things in my sleep. That I might have spilled my involvement with the giant and that he would now keep his distance from me. The panic crawled icily over my skin, making me shudder.
I raised my hand in his direction.
"Paw." My voice had turned colder than I had intended it to be.
Henry searched my eyes for a reason but, obediently and without hesitating, put his hand on mine.
"Come closer," I commanded, not making any move to pull him; I wanted him to come closer willingly.
He did so and never stopped until his body was nearly touching mine.
"Bend down." I said, and he did so slowly, his face coming closer until his lips were hovering over mine.
"Stop." After I said this, he froze instantly, and I breathed a sigh of relief at his obedience. I inhaled Henry’s scent and looked into the stark blue eyes up close, becoming calmer again.
Why the paranoia all of a sudden? He had even carried me to the bathroom in the morning. The thought that everything had changed because of me blabbering about something while sleeping didn’t even make any sense.
"Step back." I commanded, and this time, Henry needed a few seconds before obeying.
The elevator door opened at the first floor, and I walked out of it, turning around when he didn’t follow.
I chuckled; he suddenly reminded me of a lost little puppy.
"What are you waiting for?"
The unreadable expression he was wearing morphed into an overjoyed one as he came to me, his arm snaking around my neck, and I gripped his wrist, just as it should have been since we left our room.
The corridor on the first floor was far bigger than normal, and there was a steady stream of people. Every one of them was a survivor; everyone was part of The Four Hundred. Not all were young, contrary to the grouping I had seen before, and a few of the older folks recognized us, smiling and nodding at us.
We entered a place resembling a school and prison cafeteria, just with neither teachers nor guards, and all of us were clothed the same—a damn sea of white.
We stood in line, and when we had moved forward enough, I noticed that there was no lunch lady, but instead a buffet where everyone could take what they craved.
"Go and get what you want..." I mumbled to Henry, eyeing the food and getting an appetite all of a sudden.
Henry squeezed my neck for a second, and I let go of him before I wandered with my newly acquired plate around the food station.
"Kenny, how was your first night?" Chelsea popped up beside me, also reaching for the chicken.
I let her take it first before loading my plate.
"Fine."
"Yesterday, were you alright?" She asked, and I glanced at her for a moment. She must have worried because of Henry covering my ears.
"Yeah."
"Let’s sit together." She smiled and went for the salad side of the buffet while I got myself potatoes.
I found Henry in front of the beef and waited for him to finish loading his plate before I looked around and saw Anti-Guy, Glass-Guy, and Redhair sitting at one of the long tables in the back, the first two waving at me.
Chelsea was on her way to them as well, and I took Henry to follow after her.
"Let’s sit with them."
I wanted to ask them a few questions.
