Flash Marriage With Mr. Sheffield: Go Away, Cheap Man!-Chapter 198: Silas Sheffield’s Tongue Is Like Poison
Lunch was had in Downtown Valeria.
Sophie had reserved a local private kitchen.
The car stopped at the entrance of the courtyard.
Silas took an umbrella and held it over Clara’s head, "There’s a bit of a walk. The sun is scorching, take an umbrella."
Clara replied with a "hmm," not saying anything else.
Shannon watched as Silas proactively held an umbrella for Clara, appearing so gentle and considerate, a side she had never seen before.
In her memories, Silas was always so aloof, indifferent to everyone.
Even though he showed her some "special attention" because of her brother, he was never this gentle, nor did he look at her with such affectionate eyes.
Shannon followed behind them, lowering her eyes, filled with dissatisfaction.
Marcus led the way at the front.
Clara and Silas walked in the middle, Shannon followed last.
It was now around one o’clock in the afternoon, the hottest time of the day.
August sun was blazing, its rays glaring and hot, a wave of heat beating down.
Passing through the drooping flower gate and stepping into the courtyard, they were suddenly enveloped in a dense shade, instantly cooling things down significantly.
The branches and twigs in the courtyard overlapped, leaving only a few patches of fragmented blue sky.
The courtyard walls were old gray bricks, with light green moss crawling in the crevices.
Treading on the bluestone path, following it inward, led to a small bridge over flowing water and a miniature mountain.
Under the wooden arch bridge, a few lotus leaves floated on the water’s surface, with a couple of small fish swimming back and forth.
The door to the private room was a carved wooden door, which opened with a creaky sound, carrying the unique warmth of an old house.
Inside, there was a Eight Immortals Table and wooden chairs, with a large blue and white porcelain vat placed in the corner, the leaves inside lushly green, and lotus flowers in full bloom.
The environment here was very nice and classy.
"This is a membership-based private kitchen, only serving one table of guests at a time, requiring reservations in advance. Sister Clara, you probably haven’t been here before, right?" Shannon suddenly said.
Clara replied with a "hmm."
Explains why they hardly saw anyone else along the way, nor heard any voices from other rooms.
Shannon chuckled, "I used to come here often with Silas, the double pepper beef and ginger fried duck here are really good, you should try them later."
"Really?" Clara said, her expression indifferent, her gaze sweeping past Silas, "Come here often?"
Silas closed the umbrella in his hand and casually handed it to Marcus, his tone calm but carrying an undeniable sense of distance, "Grandma and Uncle like the food here, in the past when we brought them here, we’d also bring her along."
The words "bring her along" were quite intriguing.
Clara returned her gaze to Shannon’s face, smiling at her, not speaking.
The look seemed to say: Did you hear that? Just brought her along.
Shannon’s smile faded slightly, but her expression remained the same, still smiling.
Clara sat next to the window, Silas naturally sitting beside her.
Marcus and Shannon sat across from them.
Before ordering, two desserts were served.
"I ordered these in advance over the phone, not knowing that Sister Clara was coming. Marcus doesn’t eat this, so I only ordered two servings, but it’s fine, I’ll give mine to Sister Clara."
Shannon smiled sweetly, gently pushing the mango pudding to Clara.
"Sister Clara, have a taste of this special dessert, this mango pudding is so delicious, it’s not available outside." Shannon said with a smile.
"Thank you," Clara said softly.
Shannon poured tea for everyone.
"Sister Clara, no need to be polite with me. You’re the person Silas brought back, it’s your first time here, if there’s anything you’re not used to, just let me know."
She gently pushed a cup of tea towards Clara.
"Regarding earlier when we got in the car, it was my lack of awareness of boundaries, I’m sorry Sister Clara, I’ve known Silas since I was five and clung to him when I was young. It’s hard to change suddenly, please don’t be angry."
Clara replied with a half-smile, "It’s fine, Silas’s sister is my sister."
"Glad you’re not angry," Shannon said with a smile, "I thought you were mad."
Clara smiled and said nothing, taking a sip of tea, letting the faint jasmine fragrance spread through her throat.
Shannon pushed the other mango pudding to Silas.
"Brother Silas, your favorite mango pudding."
Clara raised her eyebrows, a hint of surprise flashed in her eyes.
Silas actually likes mango pudding, she had no idea?
This was quite similar to her taste.
Shannon seemed to notice the surprise in her eyes, smilingly said, "Sister Clara, Silas didn’t tell you he likes this? Quite surprising, right? I was also quite surprised when I first found out. You also feel that Silas doesn’t seem like someone who’d like such desserts, right?"
"Maybe because I like it, Silas gradually started liking it too."
Shannon tucked a lock of hair behind her ear, "My favorite dessert is mango pudding."
Silas paused after hearing her words, "No."
Shannon was stunned.
Silas turned his gaze to Clara, recalling past memories his expression softened.
"Do you remember when you used to come to my house to play during high school, you’d always bring two mango puddings from the dessert shop opposite Crestwood No. 1 High School?"
Clara was taken aback for a moment, then she nodded, "Of course I remember."
She had always liked mango and mango-flavored desserts.
Especially loved the mango pudding from the dessert shop opposite Crestwood No. 1 High School, every time Sophie invited her to play, she’d buy two servings, one for herself and one for Sophie.
"There was a time when Sophie was feeling nauseous and didn’t want her serving, and coincidentally I was home, so you gave it to me."
As Silas recounted this, his brow and eyes were filled with tenderness, "That was the first time you gave me something, it tasted great."
Although it was given to him because his sister refused it.
But, it was given by his Clara.
Silas actually didn’t like desserts.
Except those given by Clara.
"I started liking the taste since then."
Silas said, reaching out to gently hold Clara’s hand, "What you like, I like."
Shannon’s gaze fell on their intertwined hands, a hint of gloom flickered across her eyes.
"That’s how it is, sorry Sister Clara, I misunderstood."
Listening to him, Clara raised her brows, a smile emerging in her eyes, teasingly, "Your unrequited love is quite innocent."
Silas didn’t respond, simply picked up the menu and passed it over, "See what you’d like, Valeria’s local dishes are quite spicy, you might like the spicy chilled rabbit and chili fish head here."
Clara took the menu, her fingertips gently brushing across the pages, her peripheral vision catching Shannon gazing at Silas’s profile, eyes filled with adoration almost spilling out.
She remained silent, simply pointing at the items on the menu, "Let’s get the chilled rabbit and chili fish head then, and an order of stir-fried broccoli, which you like."
"Sister Clara," Shannon suddenly called out softly.
"Hmm?" Clara turned to look at her, "What’s the matter?"
"Could we not eat bunny, bunnies are so cute."
Shannon gazed at her pitifully.
"My grandfather’s house in the countryside raises little bunnies, how could you have the heart to eat such cute little bunnies?"
Clara: "..."
Suddenly, Silas spoke up, "Don’t you know your grandfather sells those rabbits to restaurants?"
Shannon: "?" 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Clara almost couldn’t hold back her laughter.
Even Marcus, accustomed to large gatherings, was caught off guard and choked on his tea, coughing while grabbing a tissue, "Cough cough cough..."
Silas’s words were sharp as ever.
