Flash Marriage With Mr. Sheffield: Go Away, Cheap Man!-Chapter 164: So You Really Had a Crush on Me
This unrestrained morning quickly passed.
Although Silas Sheffield was indulgent, he was considerate enough not to leave kiss marks above her chest.
Approaching lunchtime, Silas Sheffield received a phone call from his stepmother, Joanne Quincy.
"Silas, I just called you twice. Why didn’t you answer? Are you still busy?"
Being so close, Clara Sterling also heard Joanne Quincy’s voice on the phone.
She couldn’t help but blush, as she and Silas Sheffield had indeed been "busy" just now.
The phone by the bed was vibrating continuously, but Silas Sheffield ignored it, his large hand gripping her waist, his eyes clouded by desire.
Upon hearing Joanne Quincy’s question, Silas Sheffield raised his eyes and gave a distracted "hmm" while looking at Clara Sterling with a teasing smile.
Joanne Quincy asked again, "Are you and Clara coming back to the old house for lunch?"
Clara Sterling heard it; she really didn’t want to go.
Silas Sheffield had kept her occupied all morning, and she didn’t feel like going anywhere. She just wanted to relax at home, especially since she had to style her hair in the afternoon.
In the evening, there was grandma’s birthday banquet at a five-star hotel, organized with all the relatives of the Sheffield and Saxon Families and Crestwood elite attending. Such a formal occasion meant she couldn’t just dress casually.
"No need." Silas Sheffield seemed to hear Clara Sterling’s thoughts, refusing without asking.
After hanging up, Clara Sterling smiled as she pursed her lips, "How did you know I didn’t want to go?"
The man lifted his lips, "I’m quite confident about myself."
"..." Clara Sterling understood instantly.
Not wanting to go out, Clara Sterling had Silas Sheffield call the restaurant for delivery.
The delivery person arrived at the villa entrance, called over, and Silas Sheffield personally went out to pick it up.
A few minutes later, Silas Sheffield returned.
He placed the bag he was carrying on the dining table, took out the boxes inside, and opened them one by one.
"Smells so good." Clara Sterling walked over, stunned by the food on the table, her eyes lighting up with surprise, "Is this from Young’s Fish House near Crestwood U?"
"Yes."
Clara Sterling smiled, her eyes sparkling, "Wow, you actually saved their number. I haven’t had their food in a long time, today I’m in for a treat."
Young’s Fish House near Crestwood University has been around for almost ten years, not a big restaurant, just a small family diner run by a couple from Pyke, doing business in Crestwood.
Being near the university, their primary clientele was students, so the prices were very student-friendly.
During Clara Sterling’s freshman year, she and her roommates once went there for a meal, ordering their signature dish, spicy beancurd fish. Clara Sterling loved spicy food and fell in love with the dish at first bite, regularly visiting the place. The owner’s wife recognized her and sometimes chatted with her.
Silas Sheffield ordered three dishes: spicy beancurd fish, stir-fried spicy pork, and mapo tofu.
All dishes that Clara Sterling loved, and were also the restaurant’s specialties.
Excitedly, Clara Sterling picked up her chopsticks ready to dig in, suddenly realizing, "Wait, how do you know I like their food?"
Silas Sheffield went to college in Veridian.
Despite living in Crestwood, Young’s Fish House is a whole hundred kilometers away from the Sheffield Family home. He wouldn’t go through all the trouble to eat at a small diner, would he?
Silas Sheffield put a box of rice in front of her, speaking in a calm tone, "You forgot I had a crush on you long ago?"
Clara Sterling was surprised for a moment, "So you?"
"I saw a post you made on social media and specifically noted down the name of the restaurant."
Upon hearing this, Clara Sterling’s eyes widened, a hint of shock flashing through them, "You remembered a post I casually made?"
She did post about the restaurant, but that was a long time ago.
She recalled it was during her first semester freshman year, near finals, when she and a few roommates went for a meal. The owner’s wife said posting something on social media and getting twenty likes could grant a twenty percent discount.
This was a common advertising tactic, as the students were the restaurant’s main source of business. Encouraging them to post on social media for likes was more effective than spending money on advertising.
Clara Sterling never thought such a post would be remembered by Silas Sheffield.
"I remember you even liked it back then." Recalling, a blush crept on Clara Sterling’s cheeks, "I secretly felt happy for quite a while afterwards."
Young girls experiencing the stirrings of adolescence often feel ecstatic even with a casual like from someone they have a crush on.
"But how did you know I genuinely liked it and wasn’t just posting for the discount?" Clara Sterling said, "After all, posts seeking likes aren’t always sincere, some might praise something unpleasant just for a discount."
Silas Sheffield calmly replied, "Because you posted again later."
Clara Sterling remembered. Later, she had gone alone, and the owner’s little daughter came to play with her. The little girl was only four years old, fair and chubby, incredibly cute, calling out "sister" in her sweet voice which melted Clara’s heart.
She posted on social media praising the owner’s daughter’s cuteness.
Silas Sheffield said, "If it wasn’t good, you wouldn’t go back again."
"You remembered this too?" Clara Sterling hadn’t expected such details were remembered by him, too meticulous, "You definitely had a crush on me."
"I said before I had a crush on you and you didn’t believe me?" Silas Sheffield lifted his eyes briefly, "Having a crush naturally makes one attentive to her."
Clara Sterling grinned, her eyes curved like crescents, "Alright, I didn’t fully believe it before, but now I do."
"It wasn’t just the social media post." Silas Sheffield added.
"Hmm?" Clara Sterling didn’t quite understand what he meant, looking at him puzzled.
"One winter break, when I was back in Crestwood, your school hadn’t closed yet, I went to Crestwood U to see you...," Silas Sheffield paused, his gaze dimming.
"You even came to see me? When was this? Why didn’t I see you?" Clara Sterling furrowed her brow.
"I saw you and Isaac Sutton holding hands entering that place."
"..." Clara Sterling suddenly regretted probing further.
During her relationship with Isaac Sutton, they indeed often went there to eat.
"Ahem..." Clara Sterling coughed tactically to cover her embarrassment, "Let’s not talk about the past, I was blinded by mindless infatuation at the time. From now on, I’ll only go there with you, okay?"
Silas Sheffield’s eyes showed no particular emotion, "It doesn’t matter, I’m not that petty."
"Really?" Clara Sterling smiled.
She wanted to say "if it doesn’t matter, why bring it up," but didn’t dare.
Silas Sheffield was indeed a jealous person.
She smiled sweetly, her almond eyes glistening, "Of course you’re not petty, it’s me who wants to take you there. Next time, let’s go together, okay?"
"Alright." Silas Sheffield’s expression visibly softened, "Let’s eat first, otherwise the food will get cold."
Clara Sterling pursed her lips and chuckled, just a moment ago he claimed not to care, but now his mood improved instantly with her coaxing.
