Flash Marriage: She becomes Mrs. CEO after the Failed Dowry Talk-Chapter 952: I Don’t Want to Hear That Again
"Clack—"
The wooden door to Corala’s office was pushed open from the outside by Nora Northwood. The sudden noise startled the man and woman inside, especially the woman with long chestnut hair.
Who dares to barge into the chairman’s office?
Two gazes shot toward the source of the noise, meeting the widened eyes of Nora Northwood.
The person standing at the doorway experienced a sharp pang in her heart, struggling to control her expression, trying to appear calm.
"Nora."
The only man present came around from behind the desk and headed straight toward Nora Northwood. "Why didn’t you give me a heads-up before coming over?"
At this moment, Louis Hayes caught up and, noticing the tense atmosphere, called out, "Director Sinclair."
Jasper Sinclair waved a knuckle at Louis Hayes, "Go ahead with your tasks."
Louis understood and closed the office door as he left.
Nora Northwood glanced over Jasper Sinclair’s shoulder, looking toward the person further back, her eyes filled with questions.
Why is Rachel Woodward here?
"Were you two discussing work?"
The question came out, not quite matching what she was thinking.
"Discussing some matters."
Nora, wearing flat shoes, had to lift her chin due to the height difference just to meet Jasper Sinclair’s gaze.
She looked at him, directly into the depths of his eyes, seeming to probe the truth of his answer.
"I’ll wait for you in the lounge; you two continue your discussion."
"No need, it’s almost over. Have you had lunch?"
Rachel Woodward, treated as an invisible person, reckoned Jasper Sinclair wouldn’t continue the discussion and voluntarily suggested leaving.
Jasper naturally wouldn’t keep her, merely nodded indifferently.
After Rachel Woodward left, Nora Northwood began to question, "What were you discussing? Was it really work?"
She asked bluntly, her unadorned almond eyes directly locking onto Jasper Sinclair’s face, trying to glean more information from his expression.
Jasper Sinclair hesitated for a second; he didn’t want Nora Northwood to know the content of his conversation with Rachel Woodward.
If that were the case...
So, he turned his head, his gaze shifting elsewhere, "Discussing some personal matters."
The more he evaded, the more curious Nora became, "Can’t you tell me?"
"I can’t tell you for now."
"Again with this line, always this line, Jasper Sinclair, can’t you come up with something new?"
"Nora, don’t make a fuss."
"I’m making a fuss? You think I’m being unreasonable, right?"
The atmosphere plummeted to an all-time low. Previously, Nora would never have been the type to make a fuss.
However, pregnancy easily made her emotions swing wildly, coupled with Jasper Sinclair’s unusual behavior recently, it was truly hard not to overthink things.
Jasper Sinclair adhered to the principle of not arguing with his wife, lowering his head and coaxing, "That’s not what I meant."
Unfortunately, it had no effect.
"That’s not what you meant, then what did you mean?"
Jasper Sinclair: "..."
Arguing with a woman wasn’t his forte.
He didn’t speak, and the office fell into silence.
Nora stifled the rising bitterness, forcibly holding it back, "What exactly is it, that you can’t let me know."
"I will tell you, but not now."
Jasper Sinclair raised his hand, attempting to touch her cheek, but his wrist was batted away, and Nora raised her voice, "I don’t want to hear that!"
Next came another bout of silence.
The man’s silence made the flame in Nora’s heart grow higher and higher, finally leading to an emotional outburst.
