Flash Marriage: She becomes Mrs. CEO after the Failed Dowry Talk-Chapter 931: He Arrived Just in Time
Pre-surgery preparation.
Nora Northwood was wheeled into the operating room, leaving Elaine alone in the hospital corridor, a heavy door separating the mother and daughter.
Elaine’s heart was in turmoil. One voice told her that she should unconditionally stand by her daughter, while another told her that Jasper Sinclair had the right to know.
Time ticked away, and eleven minutes after Nora entered the operating room, Elaine opened her contact list.
Soon, she found Jasper Sinclair’s name.
The phone rang for barely ten seconds before the person on the other end picked up.
Elaine couldn’t discern what Jasper was doing, only hearing the noisy background sounds.
She quickly spoke, "Jasper, Nora and I are at Bryson Memorial Hospital."
On the phone, Jasper only said, "On my way," without another word.
Married for three years, he could more or less guess Nora’s thoughts.
He dared not waste time talking on the phone; arriving a second late could cause irreparable regret. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
The driver had already accelerated the car to its maximum speed, the scenery on both sides of the street constantly retreating, as if traveling through a time tunnel.
Jasper’s heart was in his throat.
In a place where no one could see, his hands were already clenched into fists, and a layer of fine sweat had formed on his forehead partially concealed by his hair.
...
Hospital.
Nora lay flat on the cold operating table, surrounded by monitoring equipment, the light from the ceiling too intense for her to open her eyes.
Due to her unique physical condition, she absorbed anesthesia less effectively than the average person.
The attending doctor gently comforted her by her ear, "Miss Northwood, relax a little. Staying tense for too long might cause major bleeding."
Nora: "..."
Better not to have said anything!
Guided by the attending physician, she slowly adjusted her breathing, her muscles noticeably relaxing.
The anesthesia took effect, and Nora quickly lost consciousness.
She wanted to open her eyes to see how the surgery was progressing.
Her unborn baby she had never met...
However, her eyelids wouldn’t obey her, as if weighed down by a ton, forcing her into sleep.
It felt like Nora slept for a century.
Her sleep was uneasy, her lips slightly parted as she breathed through her mouth.
...
When the effects of the anesthesia completely wore off, Nora slowly regained consciousness.
There was no imagined pain, a slender needle was fixed in the back of her hand, administering IV fluids.
She was still clad in the blue and white hospital gown.
Nora hesitated, had modern medical technology evolved to this extent?
Soon, she noticed something was amiss.
The door to the ward was pushed open from the outside, and in walked Jasper Sinclair, dressed lightly.
In weather barely above ten degrees, he wore only a thin sweater.
By reflex, Nora closed her eyes, pretending to sleep, hoping to avoid this encounter.
Jasper leaned closer to the bed, his eyes filled with repressed anger, "Still pretending to sleep?"
Nora did not move, resolutely feigning sleep.
Jasper softly but firmly called her name, "Open your eyes!"
Nora still dared not.
Upon further reflection, she felt deeply wronged; she too had lost their first baby, so why was he yelling at her!
