Flash Marriage: Pampered by Mr.Bigshot-Chapter 539 - 538: Shamelessness Taken to the Extreme
Nia Mitchell found it hard to look directly at the situation. What on earth was going on? Now she seemed to be in the wrong for everything? How come she had never noticed before that these classmates of hers were so... TSK, TSK.
Throwing my wealth around?
Fine. It was one thing to be pressured into paying, but then she didn’t even get any credit for it.
"I never thought that after four years as classmates, you all would turn out to be like this."
Nia Mitchell couldn’t help but mock herself, feeling like she had truly failed at being a decent person.
"What are we like then?"
Someone in the group was clearly unconvinced. What was wrong with them? Did anyone force her to treat them? If she had just said she wouldn’t, who would have forced her? And now she turns around and says this? She really has no shame. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Everyone felt uncomfortable; they all sat there disgruntled. Even though the meal was expensive and delicious, no one had much of an appetite.
"Let’s not talk about this anymore. Let’s eat before everything gets cold." Charles Northwood decisively ended the discussion, not allowing anyone to dwell on the matter any longer.
After all, Charles Northwood was now a professor, so everyone still listened to him. Seeing that he had spoken, they knew to drop the subject.
After that, everyone began to eat and drink.
Julia Adams sat there, resentful. Since there were few women in the class, all of them sat together at one table.
They hadn’t been eating for long when a long line of waiters appeared, each carrying dishes. The person leading them was none other than the Manager Nia Mitchell had encountered in the lobby earlier.
The moment the Manager entered and saw Nia Mitchell, a sycophantic smile spread across his face.
"Mrs. Peary, these are new dishes our Head Chef has developed. They haven’t been officially launched yet. Since you happen to be here today, perhaps you’d like to try them?"
The Manager instructed the waiters behind him to place the dishes on the table one by one.
Nia Mitchell was taken aback. Seeing the Manager’s eager demeanor, she could only offer a smile. After all, he clearly meant well, and she couldn’t very well refuse his gesture.
"Alright. Thank you, Manager."
"Not at all, not at all!" The Manager was visibly startled. Good heavens, Mrs. Peary, you absolutely mustn’t be so polite to me—I wouldn’t know what to do with myself!
Nia Mitchell smiled. Seeing the Manager continually watching her, she felt rather awkward. She had no choice but to pick up her chopsticks, select one of the dishes, and taste it.
She couldn’t identify the ingredients, but it tasted quite good.
"It’s very good. My classmates should try it too." Nia Mitchell smiled at the Manager. After speaking, she paused, still looking at him. Why isn’t he leaving?
"Since Mrs. Peary enjoys it, we’re relieved. These dishes will be launched next month. The kitchen is currently busy; there are still more dishes to come. Please, take your time and enjoy your meal."
After saying this, the Manager left with a smile. Watching him leave and the Grand Gate close behind him, Nia Mitchell breathed a sigh of relief.
However, everyone’s gaze turned to Nia Mitchell. That was the Manager, wasn’t it? Why was he so deferential towards Nia Mitchell? And he kept calling her Mrs. Peary. Could she really have married someone remarkable? Surnamed Peary? In their world, the only successful person they knew with the surname Peary was Maxwell Peary; after all, the man was incredibly famous. Young Master Peary of Capital Town—who didn’t know of him? His name even appeared frequently in their textbooks. However, one could only ever see his name, never his photograph. He was, after all, a low-profile celebrity, which was truly... But this Mrs. Peary that Nia Mitchell was... could she be *Maxwell Peary’s* wife?
