Flash Marriage: Pampered by Mr.Bigshot-Chapter 490 - 489: Are You Blind?
MC Group—
It was silent when Nia Mitchell arrived at the company. It was already ten in the morning. Although she was now the Special Assistant’s assistant, she still needed to pass through the Secretary Department to get to work.
Upon hearing the commotion, almost everyone in the Secretary Department lifted their heads. The moment they saw Nia Mitchell, a barrage of whispers began.
"She just got transferred, and she’s already late on the second day."
"Yeah, yeah. It’ll be quitting time soon. She might as well not have come at all."
"So pretentious! But it’s really puzzling. Do you think Special Assistant Lewis will just let her slide?"
They didn’t know the background of the new Special Assistant, so everyone was still observing him.
"Stop the chatter, everyone! What’s with all this squawking?" Sophia Moore frowned. She looked up at Nia Mitchell, who was just passing by, and ground her teeth in anger.
"Humph! If you say not to talk, then we won’t."
Everyone knew she was the angriest one, just putting on a brave front.
The Secretary Department quieted down, but undercurrents still surged. No one was truly convinced of anyone else’s superiority.
Sophia Moore organized two files, stood up, straightened her clothes, and walked out of the Secretary Department towards the Special Assistant Office.
"Tsk. Telling us not to talk, when she’s actually the most anxious one of all." A junior secretary spoke up, "I don’t know what kind of dumb luck she had to become Head Secretary."
Sophia Moore’s sky-high heels went CLICK-CLACK-CLICK-CLACK as she headed towards the Special Assistant Office, where Nia Mitchell was currently booting up her computer.
Whether it was luck or something else, Owen Lewis wasn’t in his Office Room.
When Sophia Moore entered, she paused for a moment, frowning in confusion. "Where is Special Assistant Lewis?" She tilted her head up to look at Nia Mitchell, her superior demeanor especially grating.
"I don’t know." Nia Mitchell replied that she had just arrived herself. How would she know where Owen Lewis had gone?
"As the assistant to the Special Assistant, you don’t even know where the Special Assistant is. You’re truly something else," Sophia Moore sneered.
"Didn’t you see I just got here?" Nia Mitchell looked at Sophia Moore, her expression clearly asking, Are you blind or something?
"Oh, just arrived?" Sophia Moore had been hoping Nia would say exactly that. Now that she had, Sophia had the perfect excuse to mock her.
"You actually have the nerve to say you just arrived? Work started an hour ago! Aren’t you being a bit too brazen with your lateness?" Sophia Moore stood there with her arms crossed, looking for all the world like a manager reprimanding a subordinate. With such a high-and-mighty attitude, anyone who didn’t know better might have thought she was the boss of MC Group.
"I took an hour of leave. Isn’t that allowed?" Nia Mitchell countered. She wasn’t even in the Secretary Department anymore. What right does Sophia have to boss people around here? Isn’t she being too arrogant? Nia had never encountered anyone like this; it was like her entire worldview was being updated.
Sophia Moore was struck speechless. She hadn’t expected Nia to have taken leave. But who takes just one hour of leave? She must be lying. Sophia Moore was convinced of it, her face a mask of disbelief. "How come I didn’t see your leave request in the system?"
Leave requests had to go through the system, which was visible to everyone. This was one of the most transparent aspects of MC Group.
Nia Mitchell hadn’t expected Sophia Moore to be so aggressive as to even bring up the system.
"President Peary said that if I went through the system, I wouldn’t get credit for full attendance and I’d lose the bonus. So he approved my leave directly, without using the system." Nia Mitchell was blatantly lying, but she figured Sophia Moore wouldn’t dare go and ask Maxwell Peary about it. Even if Sophia were foolish enough to actually go and ask, Maxwell Peary would definitely take her side.
