Chapter 47: Chapter 47: Do a Good Job, I’ll Support You

"Miss Perez!"

When the Store Manager saw Victoria Perez fall, he immediately reached out to help her up, but she shrugged him off.

"You shameless little wretch! How dare you hit me repeatedly!" Victoria Perez yelled.

Nia Mitchell stood frozen, her lips twitching. Hit her repeatedly? Are they mistaken? Wasn’t this clearly self-defense?

"You clearly fell on your own. Don’t blame me," Nia Mitchell retorted, rolling her eyes. She then turned and headed for the restroom, eager to relieve herself.

She still couldn’t understand why such people existed. It was impossible to fathom the workings of their minds or what they schemed about day and night. Looking at Miss Perez’s attire, she clearly wasn’t lacking money. So why try to extort her? Her head ached from thinking about it, and Nia Mitchell still couldn’t figure it out. Perhaps she should ask the very wealthy Uncle Peary later.

When Nia Mitchell emerged from the restroom, feeling somewhat refreshed, she was dismayed to find Victoria Perez still standing there, evidently waiting for her.

Nia Mitchell felt a strong urge to turn around and retreat back into the restroom. She sighed deeply inwardly.

"Miss, do you think you can just leave after assaulting Miss Perez?" the Store Manager interjected.

Nia Mitchell was astounded. She had only been to the restroom, yet the Store Manager was now shamelessly siding with Victoria Perez.

"I have no money, and an apology is out of the question," Nia Mitchell stated flatly, pausing briefly. That was all she had to say.

"In that case, we’ll have to call the police," the Store Manager threatened. "You might not know this, but Miss Perez comes from a very influential background—the kind that could scare you to death. It would be wise for you to be sensible."

A threat?

Just as Nia Mitchell was about to retort, she spotted Maxwell Peary approaching in the distance.

Maxwell Peary had been waiting for Nia Mitchell in the private booth for a considerable time, but she hadn’t returned. Considering the labyrinthine corridors of Madgar Pavilion, perhaps she got lost. Instead of just waiting, I should go find her. So, he had come out to look.

He hadn’t expected to find her near the restrooms. And who were these two people with her? Does Bunny have friends here? From my years of sharp insight, they don’t look like friends. More like there’s some conflict.

"What’s wrong?" Maxwell Peary asked, quickening his pace with a frown.

Hearing a man’s voice behind her, Victoria Perez turned.

What an extraordinary man! His sharply defined features were perfect, and under Madgar Pavilion’s unique lighting, he seemed like a celestial being. His innate aura spoke volumes of his nobility, identity, and status. And what a coincidence—she, Victoria Perez, had actually had the good fortune of meeting such a perfect man once before. Maxwell Peary, a legendary figure in Capital Town! She hadn’t expected him to concern himself with such trivial matters.

Victoria Perez’s disdainful expression, moments before fixed on Nia Mitchell, instantly transformed into a gentle, captivating smile. She was confident that no man could remain indifferent to her beauty.

"Young Master Peary," she cooed, gliding gracefully towards Maxwell Peary. "It’s nothing serious. Just some ill-mannered, uncultured girl who appeared out of nowhere. She bumped into me and didn’t even apologize. Instead, she actually pushed me to the ground."

Nia Mitchell couldn’t believe this woman was capable of such a soft, gentle tone. Good heavens, she was certainly a convincing actress!

When Victoria Perez saw Maxwell Peary frown at Nia Mitchell after hearing her "complaint," she was inwardly ecstatic.

"Did you push her?" Maxwell Peary asked, his gaze fixed on Nia Mitchell, his brow furrowing even more.

Nia Mitchell hesitated. If what I did counts as pushing, then yes. She bit her lip and nodded.

"Good push," Maxwell Peary declared. "If you’re not satisfied, go on and push her again. I’ve got your back."
