Flash Marriage, Deep Love-Chapter 77 The Outcome of a Worthless Woman (1)
Chapter 77: Chapter 77 The Outcome of a Worthless Woman (1)
Mi Jing was truly exhausted, so tired that she didn’t want to open her eyes. She didn’t have the extra strength to continue scolding Shen Lingxing and fell asleep in a daze as he comforted her.
Watching her peaceful sleeping face, Shen Lingxing felt none of the guilt that Mi Jing had imagined. He just thought that he should probably restrain himself a little over the next few days, lest she gets pissed off and bans him from the bed.
After a while, Shen Lingxing’s gaze moved away from Mi Jing’s face. Seeing that it was time to go to work, he gave her a light kiss on the brow, then turned and walked into the wardrobe to change clothes and leave.
In just one night, the police had raided the Black Dragon Gang’s territory completely. Not only could they not operate normally, but they had also suffered heavy losses, with even their most lucrative drug channels being cut off.
"Damn it! I’m really out of luck!"
After being locked up in the police station for a night, Black Dragon’s violent temper had been fully triggered. His bloodshot eyes bulged, his hands clenched into fists. With a loud bang, he slammed them onto the table, causing everything on it to jump.
Seeing this, the dozen people standing nearby didn’t dare to breathe loudly, all looking down at the floor, not daring to glance at Black Dragon, afraid that if they annoyed him, they’d meet a miserable fate!
"Go get that guy named Song and his woman for me."
Unable to quell his anger, he needed to take it out on someone! He didn’t dare provoke Fourth Young Master Shen, but dealing with Song Guotao, the small lawyer who had brought him such bad luck, was like crushing an ant, effortless!
"Yes, boss!"
Four men responded respectfully, then swiftly turned and left.
In a rented room, Song Guotao was organizing the documents for Hei Ziyi’s rape case, while Chen Wenyu sat beside him, playing with her phone and occasionally feeding him already cut apples.
"Guotao, why do you think the Black Dragon Gang suddenly let Xuanxuan go? Didn’t Mi Wan say she wouldn’t give up defending this case?" Bored after playing her mobile game for a while, Chen Wenyu voiced her doubts.
"I’m not sure either. I just heard that someone under Mr. Gu brought Xuanxuan back," Song Guotao replied absently, his fingers tapping on the laptop keyboard, eyes fixed on the screen.
"Mr. Gu? Is it Gu Mosheng of M Group? Does Mi Wan know him?"
Though Chen Wenyu had never met Gu Mosheng, she had heard of him. In Jin City, both the underworld and the authorities held him in high regard. Such a powerful man was unforgettable even by name alone.
"Can you be quiet? Do you want to let me work or not!" Frustrated by her questions, Song Guotao stopped typing, glared at Chen Wenyu, and shouted impatiently.
Back at home, whenever he worked, Mi Wan never bothered him with endless questions. Even if she had opinions about his cases, she would wait until he asked before speaking. She was never nagging or presumptuous, always providing the right amount of care and understanding.
Before their divorce, he hadn’t realized this, thinking that since he was successful and well-known, he could find any woman he wanted, so why settle for Mi Wan?
Indeed, he had a complex about virginity. Whenever he was intimate with her, he couldn’t stop thinking about her moaning under Ji Dongquan, finding her dirty in his heart. But after the divorce, his dislike and aversion towards Mi Wan gradually lessened. Instead, he recalled more of her good qualities, which became even more apparent in comparison to Chen Wenyu.
During their seven years of marriage, he spent most of his time working and only paid attention to Mi Wan’s social circle when he needed help. He had no idea when she met Gu Mosheng. If she really knew Gu Mosheng and he decided to help, Song Guotao was certain he would lose the rape case.
Currently, Black Dragon had suppressed the news of the case and bribed the witnesses, giving him a chance to win. However, no matter how tough Black Dragon was, he couldn’t compete with the well-connected and wealthy Gu Mosheng.
Song Guotao knew Mi Wan’s methods well; given the opportunity, she would use public opinion to draw social attention to the case. Plus, the plaintiff was a minor girl, which would garner more sympathy from the public and the judge than the overbearing second-generation rich kid, Hei Ziyi.
But no matter what, he couldn’t afford to lose this case, or Black Dragon wouldn’t let him off.
"Alright, don’t be mad at me! I’m just concerned about you," Chen Wenyu said, holding Song Guotao’s hand and pouting. "What do you want for lunch? I’ll cook for you."
"I’m not really hungry. Do whatever you want," he said coldly, suppressing his irritation.
Feeling displeased but not showing it, Chen Wenyu smiled, "Then I’ll go to the supermarket. If you think of something you want, give me a call."
Since Song Guotao’s divorce from Mi Wan, Chen Wenyu had noticed a change in his attitude towards her. They had been together for nearly six months. Initially, he had been very willing to humor her, always gentle and attentive, meeting her every need. Facing such a mature, successful, and gentle man, she had no resistance and quickly fell into the web he wove, unable to extricate herself even knowing he had a wife and daughter.
In fact, her first time wasn’t with Song Guotao. Before working at the firm, she had a boyfriend she met in college. After graduating, their relationship faded due to living in different cities, and they eventually broke up naturally.
She didn’t study law, graduated from a third-rate technical school, and had been doing clerical work post-college. She got the front desk job at the firm because of her pretty face and good figure.
Logically, as a receptionist, she shouldn’t have had much interaction with the firm’s top attorney, Song Guotao. They hardly said ten words to each other daily, and their only exchanges were about making tea or coffee. However, an office gathering organized by the company brought them closer. That day, Song Guotao drank too much, and since she could drive, his assistant asked her to take him home.
That night, after all the colleagues had left, she and Song Guotao stayed in a KTV private room where he clung to her, talking about his grievances and his wife. He spoke for a long time, and she patiently listened, learning from his venting that he had a complex about virginity.
Maybe it was the right atmosphere, maybe it was loneliness, or perhaps she was unwilling to remain just a receptionist. So when the drunken Song Guotao kissed her, she didn’t refuse. They tangled on the long sofa in the private room. But knowing his complex, she didn’t let him go all the way.
