Flash Marriage, Deep Love-Chapter 46: Don’t Worry, I’m Here
Chapter 46: Chapter 46: Don’t Worry, I’m Here
"I can’t be bothered with you!"
Mi Jing hadn’t forgotten that Shen Lingxing was still waiting outside, so she didn’t plan to continue arguing with Li Bao’er over this small matter. After finishing her sentence, Mi Jing grabbed her bag and turned to walk out from behind the counter.
"Smile, don’t keep a straight face, or else your husband might think I bullied you. You wouldn’t want him to have a bad impression of me, right?" Li Bao’er leaned forward, almost half her body lying on the counter, looking up at the fuming Mi Jing with a carefree smile, lightly reminding her.
Could she really smile with a friend who values love over friendship?
Mi Jing raised her eyes, giving Li Bao’er a look, then turned her head, leaving her back to her.
Sitting in the car, Mi Jing pretended to be calm, wondering if Shen Lingxing would mistakenly think she liked him because of what Bao’er had just said.
Mi Jing glanced at Shen Lingxing beside her from the corner of her eye, wanting to explain, but considering their relationship, repeatedly emphasizing that she didn’t like him might just make things more awkward.
Thinking this, Mi Jing dismissed the idea of explaining to Shen Lingxing. She slowly lowered her head, then reached out to unzip her bag, taking out the jade bracelet given to her by the old lady, and carefully putting it on.
At noon, the old lady had specifically called to remind her to wear the jade bracelet. To do so, Mi Jing had made a special trip back home.
More than half an hour later, the car stopped in front of a villa with its own courtyard. They hadn’t gotten out of the car yet when Mrs. Zhou, accompanied by some servants, walked up to the car.
After getting out, Shen Lingxing asked Mrs. Zhou to have the servants get the things from the trunk, then led Mi Jing into the house.
"Sister-in-law!"
A rather excited shout suddenly rang out. With that shout, everyone in the living room turned their attention to Mi Jing, who was standing next to Shen Lingxing. As Mi Jing looked up, she saw Shen Xing’er beaming with a bright, enthusiastic smile.
Having met before, Mi Jing felt a bit more at ease and naturally smiled at Shen Xing’er.
"Sister-in-law, let me introduce you. This is my sister, Shen Jiajia." Shen Xing’er eagerly introduced the family members to Mi Jing. Despite some time passing since they last met, her warm and generous attitude toward Mi Jing hadn’t diminished at all.
Following Shen Xinger’s introduction, Mi Jing’s gaze fell on a young girl, about twenty years old, dressed elegantly with a sweet appearance.
"Hello, sister-in-law." Shen Jiajia greeted her with a cheerful smile.
"Hello." Mi Jing replied with a polite smile.
After the brief exchange of greetings, Shen Xing’er skipped over her grandmother and her husband Mu Bai, pointing to a single armchair, saying, "This is my stepmother, Ms. Ma."
Stepmother?
Three black lines appeared on Mi Jing’s forehead as she thought, just how much does Xing’er dislike Ms. Ma to directly call her stepmother?
"Hello." Mi Jing buried all her curiosity and surprise, maintaining her smile and politely greeting.
Ms. Ma seemed very accustomed to Shen Xing’er’s address, her expression unchanged. She kept a graceful smile, nodding to Mi Jing.
"Alright, enough with the fuss, have a seat."
Finally, the old lady spoke, her expression stern, her tone authoritative, exuding an aura of awe with every move. Shen Xing’er didn’t dare disobey her grandmother, pouting and reluctantly sitting back next to Mu Bai.
As Shen Xing’er sat down, the old lady seemed to undergo a face transformation performance. In an instant, her stern and serious expression disappeared, replaced by a broad smile. Kindly, she said to Mi Jing, "Jingjing, don’t just stand, have a seat."
The old lady was known for her serious demeanor, so this rare display of kindness not only surprised the Shen Family but also made them realize her deep affection for Mi Jing as her granddaughter-in-law.
Shen Lingxing had already witnessed his grandmother’s warmth towards Mi Jing, so he was somewhat immune to it, merely smiling gently as he hugged Mi Jing and led her to sit next to Shen Xing’er.
"Sister-in-law, did you buy this bracelet yourself? It looks so familiar!"
Mi Jing had just settled into the sofa when the sharp-eyed Shen Xing’er noticed the jade bracelet on her hand. Instantly, a mischievous glint flashed in her eyes, and her surprised reaction drew everyone’s attention back to Mi Jing.
Noticing the curious expressions around her, Mi Jing dryly laughed, saying, "I didn’t buy it; Grandma gave it to me."
"Oh, so it’s our family’s jade bracelet, no wonder I found it familiar." Shen Xing’er nodded knowingly while secretly observing Ma Huilian’s reaction. She saw that the previous calmness on Ma Huilian’s face had vanished, replaced by a slightly stiff expression and a piercing gaze fixed on the jade bracelet on Mi Jing’s left hand.
Having tried so hard to obtain it but failing, and now seeing it in someone else’s possession, Ma Huilian’s mood must be terrible at this moment, Shen Xing’er thought, and her smile grew even brighter.
"Sister-in-law, are you going to take over the company?" Shen Jiajia asked, wide-eyed, her expression a mix of innocent curiosity and slight surprise.
Company? What company?
"No! What company are you talking about?" Mi Jing asked in confusion.
"The jewelry company, sister-in-law, didn’t you know?" Shen Jiajia looked at her in astonishment.
Mi Jing shook her head, indicating she didn’t know.
From this, it was clear to everyone she had been kept in the dark and didn’t know the details.
"Haha. Sister-in-law, it seems Grandma didn’t explain things clearly to you!"
Shen Xing’er suddenly laughed heartily and said, "Actually, this jade bracelet is not just a family heirloom. According to Grandpa’s will, whoever Grandma gives the bracelet to is the biggest shareholder of the jewelry company. Grandma used to want my brother to manage the jewelry company, but he had no interest in business and refused to inherit the family business. Now it’s good, with you managing the company, Grandma can rest assured."
What?
Manage the jewelry company? What qualifies her to do that?
"No, I don’t know anything!" Mi Jing, with anxiety clouding her face, looked at the old lady and asked, "Grandma, can I give the bracelet back to you?"
"No!" The old lady’s face turned stern, and she firmly said, "You can learn what you don’t know. You must face challenges head-on and not retreat in the face of difficulties!"
But the problem is, she just wants to retreat!
She had always been used to a lazy, carefree life, without any ambitions to dominate the business world. But the old lady had made her stance and decision clear, and no matter how much she didn’t want to, it wouldn’t be good to argue with her.
Thus, Mi Jing silently lowered her head, suddenly feeling the jade bracelet in her hand weighing a thousand pounds, overwhelming her.
Shen Lingxing had been quietly listening to their conversation. Seeing Mi Jing with her head bowed, he thought, is Grandma trying to scare his wife away? While anyone else would be delighted to gain such an advantage, Mi Jing was clearly an exception, not feeling happy but rather pressured and tense.
