Flash Marriage, Deep Love-Chapter 35 Watching Jokes
Chapter 35: Chapter 35 Watching Jokes
The size of the jade bracelet was just right, as if it had been custom-made for Mi Jing’s wrist. The old lady held Mi Jing’s hand and inspected it carefully for a moment, then nodded in satisfaction and said, "Not bad, it fits perfectly."
"Thank you, Grandma." Seeing how happy the old lady was, Mi Jing couldn’t bring herself to decline, so she swallowed her words of refusal and smiled as she thanked her.
"We’re family, no need to be polite." The old lady affectionately patted Mi Jing’s hand and said, "I only have one grandson, Xingxing, and you’re my only granddaughter-in-law, so there’s no need to be formal with me in the future."
"Okay." Mi Jing obediently nodded, indicating she understood.
The old lady took note of Mi Jing’s expression and thought to herself that this child was simple-minded, obedient, and understanding, and had good looks too. Truly, she was quite remarkable. If her grandson and Mi Jing were truly in love and came together, that would be perfect, and it would save her a lot of worry.
"Jingjing, how did you and Xingxing meet?" The old lady glanced back at Shen Lingxing, who was cooking noodles in the kitchen, and asked curiously.
"We met at a coffee shop."
Mi Jing liked the old lady very much. Although she was a bit nervous about their first meeting, the old lady’s kind and amiable smile warmed her heart. So, as they chatted, Mi Jing gradually spoke more freely, answering each question the old lady asked.
Shen Lingxing came out of the kitchen carrying a pot of noodles, and seeing his grandmother and Mi Jing chatting and laughing together, a smile also appeared on his handsome face.
"Young Master, let me help you." Mrs. Zhou, who had been silently listening to the conversation, stood up and walked towards Shen Lingxing as she spoke.
"No need, Mrs. Zhou, the noodles are already cooked. You just sit down." Shen Lingxing had always respected Mrs. Zhou despite her calling him "Young Master." He never showed any arrogance in front of her, and signaling her to sit, he pulled a chair at the dining table.
"I’ll call the old lady." Mrs. Zhou didn’t sit down. She was someone who understood proper etiquette. Even though the Shen Family treated her well, she wouldn’t dare sit down before the others had done so.
"I’ve heard you, you sit down." The old lady turned back and spoke to Mrs. Zhou, then stood up and said to Mi Jing, "Let’s go; let’s eat noodles."
"Grandma, you go and sit first, I’ll help." Mi Jing glanced at Shen Lingxing, who was heading to the kitchen, and told the old lady before attempting to follow him, but the old lady stopped her. "Xingxing can handle it alone; we just need to eat."
Mi Jing sat down at the dining table with the old lady. Shortly after, Shen Lingxing brought out the bowls and chopsticks, skillfully serving them noodles.
"Jingjing, how does it taste? Is it good?" The old lady asked with great interest, watching Mi Jing as she ate the noodles.
"Yes, it’s very good."
Mi Jing savored the noodles and gave a wholehearted affirmation, silently giving Shen Lingxing a thumbs-up in her heart. She always had a soft spot for delicious food and, by extension, respected those who could cook.
"Haha, you’re in luck then. In the future, you can ask Xingxing to cook for you often." The old lady said to Mi Jing but looked at Shen Lingxing as she spoke.
Shen Lingxing didn’t say anything, glanced at the jade bracelet on Mi Jing’s wrist, slightly furrowed his brows, and then exchanged a meaningful look with the old lady.
Mi Jing didn’t miss the silent exchange between Shen Lingxing and the old lady, but she couldn’t understand what they were conveying and didn’t want to. So she lowered her head and continued eating noodles.
After they were full, Mi Jing took the initiative to clear the dishes with Mrs. Zhou helping, while Shen Lingxing led the old lady to the open-air balcony.
"Grandma, do you still think I like men?" As soon as the old lady sat down, Shen Lingxing asked directly, with a hint of helplessness in his tone.
The old lady remained silent, which was as good as admitting it.
Now thirty-one, he had never mentioned liking any girl, never seen with one, always immersed in work. She had to beg him to go on dates, and even then, out of nearly twenty girls she introduced, each of different types, he found none satisfactory. No wonder the old lady had her suspicions, which hadn’t been dispelled until now.
The old lady’s silence left Shen Lingxing extremely helpless. He sighed and pleaded, "My sexual orientation is perfectly normal. So please don’t test Mi Jing anymore. Her feelings are written all over her face."
"Oh, did I hear that right? Are you showing concern for your wife?" The old lady was intrigued, seeing her grandson show such interest in a girl for the first time; she teased him with a smile.
"You can think that way if you want."
"You brat, why do you always brush me off!" The old lady’s face darkened as she scolded him.
"I didn’t mean to brush you off. Marriage isn’t something to be taken lightly. You can rest assured." Shen Lingxing explained with a serious attitude.
"That’s more like it." The old lady’s stern look softened a bit, and she said, "Now that you’re married, things are different. You need to spend more time with Jingjing instead of just focusing on work all the time."
"Okay."
"As for the company, it belongs to Jingjing whether she wants it or not. You both work it out."
"Okay."
The old lady was forceful in her stance, leaving Shen Lingxing with no choice but to follow her arrangement.
Shortly after breakfast, the old lady was ready to leave. Mi Jing and Shen Lingxing escorted her out, and only after she and Mrs. Zhou got in the elevator did they turn back inside.
Mi Jing walked ahead, fiddling with the jade bracelet on her wrist but couldn’t take it off despite several attempts.
Ouch...
Accidentally, she used too much force, and her left hand hurt from the pressure of the jade bracelet, making Mi Jing gasp.
Hearing her gasp, Shen Lingxing quickly stepped up from behind, looked at her reddening hand, and frowned, saying, "Why so rough?"
How was she rough?
Confused by Shen Lingxing’s reproachful tone, Mi Jing was about to ask him, but he pulled her into the bathroom.
Swoosh, the faucet was turned on by Shen Lingxing. He grabbed her hand, rinsed it under the water, and then picked up the hand soap next to the sink, applying it to her hand.
With the soap acting as a lubricant, the jade bracelet easily came off, making Mi Jing realize how simple it really was, understanding why Shen Lingxing called her rough.
"Here." Shen Lingxing handed the cleaned jade bracelet to Mi Jing.
Mi Jing pressed her lips together, carefully took it, and then asked, "Is it safe to keep the bracelet at home?"
Regardless of its monetary value, the bracelet held significant family meaning far beyond its worth. If it got lost or damaged, it would be difficult to explain to Grandma, so Mi Jing hoped Shen Lingxing could take care of it.
