Chapter 2191 - Seizing Treasures

“Ancestor Hongzhen is wandering the clouds and exploring the four seas, without a fixed residence. Only the sect leader knows when he’ll return.” Tie Wenjing shook his head.

But then, his expression shifted, and he shot to his feet.

Practically simultaneously, Su Yi noticed something, and he gazed into the distance.

There, he saw a sea of clouds over an uncultivated stretch of mountains and valleys. A group of people had appeared there, seemingly out of nowhere, and they were flying their way.

The group tore a rift through the sea of clouds, which churned like waves and spread outward.

The leader of the group was none other than Niu Kui!

Him aside, Su Yi spotted yet another familiar face: Wang Teng! The Severed Heavens Demon Court Greater God who controlled the Umbrella of Tribulations!

Su Yi recognized two of the others as well. They’d been at the Qilin Trading Company’s recent auction, and they were even among those who’d stepped up to invite Su Yi to join their factions at the Spring and Autumn Dao Assembly!

One was a scholarly old man in a tall hat and a broad belt. He was from the Red Dust Demon Lands.

The other was a man in jade-colored brocade robes. He had a sheathed Dao Sword across his back at an angle, and he hailed from the Donghua Sword Pavilion.

All four of them were Greater Gods! Furthermore, all four of them had obviously come with malicious intentions!

“What are you doing?” Tie Wenjing’s expression darkened; he realized that this didn’t bode well.

“Don’t worry, Ol’ Tie. We’re only here to take Xiao Jian away,” Niu Kui said with a grin. “Of course, if you refuse, don’t blame us for not giving you face.”

As they conversed, the four Greater Gods worked together to surround Su Yi and Tie Wenjing’s treasure ship.

“Aren’t you afraid of offending Qingwu Divine Court?” Tie Wenjing was visibly enraged. He could never have imagined that they’d be this sick in the head. They’d actually gone so far as to join forces just to deal with Xiao Jian.

“Laughable.” Niu Kui laughed coldly. “Xiao Jian murdered our sect’s experts. Now, I’ve come for revenge. What’s wrong with that?”

“Tie Wenjing, Xiao Jian has yet to officially join Qingwu Divine Court. He naturally doesn’t count as your sectmate,” Wang Teng said flatly. “Even if we kill him right in front of you, it’ll have nothing to do with Qingwu Divine Court!”

Tie Wenjing’s expression shifted erratically. He was both frantic and enraged.

“And what about you? Why are you getting mixed up in this?” Tie Wenjing looked at the other two.

The old man in the tall hat and broad belt said with an air of righteousness, “It’s only natural that I step in when I see an injustice!”

The swordsman in brocade robes sighed. “Ol’ Tie, that boy claimed Yi Daoxuan’s Sword, Unfettered Wanderer, in the Qilin Trading Company. How could we possibly just let him go?”

Tie Wenjing’s expression was increasingly unsightly.

Suddenly, Su Yi interjected. “Does that mean that yesterday, when you invited me to join your respective factions, you were really just after that broken sword?”

The old man couldn’t help but laugh. “So you’re not too stupid after all.”

The swordsman in brocade said, “That’s true for us, but isn’t it true of Tie Wenjing, too? If he brings you back to Qingwu Divine Court, they’ll gain a powerful new disciple and Unfettered Wanderer. Two birds, one stone.”

Tie Wenjing’s face instantly went red, and he shouted, “I’m not the despicable person you take me for!! Xiao Jian, whatever you do, don’t believe their lives! I had no idea that you had Unfettered Wanderer!”

“Don’t be angry, Elder Tie,” said Su Yi. “I naturally realize that they’re just trying to sow discord between us.”

“Enough! No more nonsense!” Niu Kui said expressionlessly. “Tie Wenjing, I’ll just ask you this. Will you back down? Or not?”

The other three gazed intently at Tie Wenjing. The threat was readily apparent.

“No need to say anymore!” Tie Wenjing roared. “So long as there’s breath in my body, you can forget about taking Xiao Jian away!!”

Su Yi couldn’t help but take another look at him.

“Hah. So, you insist on doing this the hard way!” Niu Kui laughed coldly, then launched a sudden attack.

Boom!

He took a step forward, then swung his palm at Tie Wenjing.

Practically simultaneously, the old man jumped into the fray, working with Niu Kui to attack Tie Wenjing from both sides.

Wang Teng and the swordsman, meanwhile, charged at Su Yi.

There was no doubt about it. They’d discussed their plans well in advance. Two of them would hold Tie Wenjing back, while the other two seized the opportunity to attack Su Yi. That was how they managed to work together so seamlessly.

Boom!!

A grand battle broke out.

The treasure ship instantly split, blasted to bits.

But against all expectations, Xiao Jian, whom the Greater Gods hadn’t taken at all seriously, instantly turned and fled!!

Wang Teng and the swordsman’s attacks hit nothing but air.

The two of them exchanged glances, then immediately gave chase!

Meanwhile, Tie Wenjing’s infuriated roar resounded from afar. “Xiao Jian, run! The further the better. Don’t worry about me!”

Niu Kui and the old man were attacking from both sides. Tie Wenjing couldn’t extricate himself, so instead, he vented all of his fury on them, attacking in a frenzy.

His opponents had him trapped, but they couldn’t leave to chase Su Yi, either. It was all they could do to fight Tie Wenjing.

However, both of them were calm, as they were convinced that Xiao Jian wouldn’t be able to escape disaster!

Meanwhile——

Su Yi flashed through the air, the very picture of someone fleeing for his life.

“Xiao Jian, you won’t escape!”

“Leave Unfettered Wanderer behind, and we might well spare your life!”

Wang Teng and the swordsman were slowly but surely gaining on Su Yi.

Su Yi ignored them.

Shortly afterward.

“Die!” The swordsman attacked with an icy bellow, drawing the sheathed Dao Sword on his back and slashing through the air.

Boom!

Monstrous sword qi tore through the heavens. Eight thousand miles of clouds collapsed with a bang, like scattering catkins.

Wang Teng could tell at a glance that Xiao Jian had no hope of dodging this strike!

But Su Yi didn’t even try to dodge. As this strike drew near, he silently came to a halt, then whipped around to face it.

He waved his sleeve through the air, and...

Bang!

The incoming slash shattered like smashed ice, tearing open countless rifts in the surrounding skies.

Hm? The swordsman and Wang Teng’s pupils constricted, and their eyes widened in disbelief. A Lesser God shattered the attack of a Greater God with a single swing of his sleeve?

“The Donghua Sword Pavilion’s Dao of the Sword is as lousy as ever. You’re only good at catching people off guard and stabbing them in the back,” Su Yi said softly.

As he spoke, he took a step forward and appeared in front of the swordsman in brocade.

He was suddenly more than twice as fast as he’d been while fleeing!

The swordsman in brocade swung his Dao Sword at an angle. He struck with immense force, and his sword intent was like the thunder and lightning of the nine heavens, brimming with a terrifying air of destruction.

This was the power of the Fortune Realm!

But then, he watched as Su Yi snapped his fingers.

Clang!!!

The swordsman’s Dao Sword quivered, its wails shaking the heavens as it flew from his grip.

The fingers of the hand gripping his sword broke, and his wrist shattered with a spray of flesh and blood.

His face filled with horror, and he retreated explosively.

By now, it was obvious to him that he’d been fooled. Xiao Jian’s strength wasn’t limited to what he’d displayed during the Spring and Autumn Dao Assembly. He was strong enough to threaten the lives of even Greater Gods!!

It was incomparably astonishing and unbelievable.

But the swordsman in brocade didn’t have time to think. He had to run. Survival came first!

It was also then that a broken sword appeared in Su Yi’s hand.

The broken sword brimmed with astonishing murderous intent, and its blade was covered in dried blood.

This was Unfettered Wanderer!

This sword had accompanied Yi Daoxuan in battle for years, and it had feasted on the blood of countless gods. It was an unparalleled, ominous weapon!

Now, when it appeared in Su Yi’s grip, it erupted with a monstrous sword hum, as if cheering with delight and excitement.

Su Yi smiled faintly, then said, “Didn’t you want this sword? Why are you leaving?”

His voice had only just rung out when he casually launched an attack.

When his sword rose, bright-red murderous intent cleaved through the cloudy dome of heaven, staining the skies red.

When his sword landed, it was like the fiery light of dusk setting in over the mountains, shrouding heaven and earth in its blood-red radiance.

Off in the distance, the swordsman’s head flew through the air, his eyes wide with shock and terror.

One slash, and his head and body parted ways. He’d been destroyed, body and soul!

And when that terrifying sword qi reached the ground, it left a perfectly straight, three-hundred-thousand-foot rift in the earth.

“Your turn.” Su Yi turned, his gaze deep and profound. A faint smile tugged at his lips. “I’m quite happy that you came to see me of your own accord.”

Off in the distance, Wang Teng was so startled that his scalp had gone numb.

Su Yi was just a Lesser God. Wang Teng could never have imagined that in the blink of an eye, this “fish on the chopping block” would transform into a terrifying existence capable of slaying Greater Gods with ease!

When Su Yi turned to face him, Wang Teng instinctively drew the Umbrella of Tribulations. A waterfall of chaos qi poured down its bronze surfaces, enshrouding Wang Teng completely.

At the same time, he shouted, “Just... just who are you?”

Boom!

Su Yi ignored him. He just swung his sword.

Except that now, he’d exchanged the broken Unfettered Wanderer for the Sword of Proximity!

With the Sword of Proximity, even the ends of the earth were close at hand. Distance was meaningless!

There was thus no way for Wang Teng to dodge. He had no choice but to meet this strike head-on.

Clang!!!

The Umbrella of Tribulations quivered, and its chaos qi churned.

Wang Teng was sent flying on impact, repeatedly hacking up mouthfuls of blood.

Now that he and Su Yi were clashing directly, he finally understood on a visceral level just how perversely strong this young Creation Realm cultivator was.

But more than that, what really astonished him was the sword Su Yi was using.

“The Sword of Proximity! You’re...” Wang Teng’s eyes bulged, and he cried out.

But before he could finish his sentence, the all-encompassing hum of a sword bore down on him. A swath of chaos sword qi descended from the heavens, knocking the Umbrella of Tribulations away.

Wang Teng, meanwhile, was completely enveloped in sword qi.

Bang!!

He was instantly reduced to ash.

In the last moments before his death, astonishment and disbelief were written all over his face. He’d undoubtedly never even considered the possibility that Xiao Jian, the “descendant of the Torch Dragon lineage”, was actually Su Yi in disguise.

Whoosh!

Su Yi raised his hand, and the Umbrella of Tribulations landed in his palm.

Su Yi examined it briefly. Despite himself, a hint of a smile tugged at his lips. This was the fifth of the Nine Mysteries of Chaos, and it was mystical indeed, with unique, wondrous applications!

Without any further delays, Su Yi put the Umbrella of Tribulations and Sword of Proximity away, then scoured the area for trophies and cleaned up the vestiges of battle.

Time to go back and deal with the other two, but... how should I go about it? Su Yi stroked his jaw and pondered how to kill Niu Kui and that old man from the Red Dust Demon Lands without Tie Wenjing realizing it was him.
