First Immortal of the Sword-Chapter 2105 - Demon God Lin’s Master
Chapter 2105 - Demon God Lin’s Master
An air of destruction still surged throughout heaven and earth.
The atmosphere was incomparably stifled and quiet.
The Seven Great Celestial Venerates seethed with murderous intent. The Dao-Severing Bone Spear hung high in the air, an intimidating sight.
Yet now, Su Yi had suddenly stepped forward to defend Luo Xuanji. Everyone found this a surprise!
“I said it earlier. I’ve got plenty of hidden cards left,” Su Yi said calmly. “But the whole point of a hidden card is that other people don’t know about them. You all already knew about my power of reincarnation, so it naturally doesn’t count as a hidden card.”
The Celestial Venerates’ gazes focused.
“You’re saying you have a hidden card even stronger than the natural order of reincarnation?” Celestial Venerate Bright Universe said with a frown.
“I’m not sure, to be honest,” said Su Yi. “But I’ll know once I’ve tested it.”
It was just one sentence, but it left the Celestial Venerates gobsmacked. It’s your own damn trump card! What do you mean, you're not sure?
Luo Xuanji was a bit befuddled, too.
“Some trump cards are best reserved for when you’ve reached a dead end. Others are best reserved for opportune moments,” said Su Yi. He flipped his hand, and a talisman floated into the air. “Have a look at this, everyone.”
All eyes were instantly on the talisman, but before they could get a good look at it, Su Yi tightened his grip.
Bang!
The talisman shattered.
A wisp of green light transformed into clear and turbid qi. White and black intertwined, with occasional flickers of wondrous Buddhist light, mysterious Dao Light, and Confucianist Haoran Qi...
But in the end, everything returned to a pure state of chaos.
Then, beneath countless eyes, a figure took shape amidst the pure chaos energy.
He was an old man with poised, elegant features and plain, simple clothing. His hair and beard were as white as frost, and he just stood there, without the slightest flourish or adornment, looking natural as could be.
Even his presence was calm and unassuming, as mellow as a spring breeze, and as quiet as a flowing cloud. He had no imposing aura whatsoever.
The crowd was gobsmacked. Who’s this old man?
The Celestial Venerates initially frowned, but then, they relaxed.
“A... remnant of will? Hah! It seems this trump card of yours is a bit... lacking,” Celestial Venerate Burning Wind said with a sneer.
“Fellow Daoist, I’m starting to really believe you knew nothing about your own trump card. Otherwise, how could you possibly have taken something like this out at a moment of crisis?” Celestial Venerate Cloud Tyrant couldn’t help but burst into sputtering laughter.
The other Celestial Venerates couldn’t help but shake their heads. What kind of joke is this? He’s using a remnant of will to boost his ranks? Does he think we were born yesterday?
“Fellow Daoist, how about you try a different trump card? We’ll all wait patiently. We promise to at least give you a chance to struggle,” said Celestial Venerate Bright Universe, forcing back the impulse to laugh.
This was the Ancient God Domain. When the seven of them worked together, combined with a Primordial Ancestral Treasure like the Dao-Severing Bone Spear, they could sweep through all Master Gods in their path, let alone a mere remnant of will!
Luo Xuanji was unwittingly bewildered, too. How could this be his trump card? Don’t tell me that Fellow Daoist Su... really didn’t know this hidden card’s origins?
But the elegant old man remained perfectly calm, without the slightest hint of irritation. He swept his gaze across the crowd, then smiled warmly and looked at Su Yi.
“Long time no see, Fellow Daoist.” The old man clasped his fist in greeting, his gaze hard to read.
“I’ve yet to reawaken the memories of my past lives, so I don’t recognize you,” said Su Yi, a bit frustrated. “Lin Jinghong gave this talisman to me, but all she said was that it could keep me alive. I don’t know anything else.”
The old man couldn’t help but find this amusing. He smiled and nodded. “I understand. That girl did that because her father ordered her not to reveal anything.”
He stood there, calm as could be, with no hint of an imposing aura, yet incomparably self-assured and composed. He completely ignored the Seven Great Celestial Venerates, as well as the throng of gods spectating in the distance!
As unassuming as he looked, his sheer calm seemed extraordinarily out of place. After all, not even a Master God could possibly have remained so calm in the face of such an encirclement.
Su Yi noticed this too, and something occurred to him. “I can already tell that even if I ask, you won’t reveal anything either. You likely won’t even tell me your name or title lightly, so all I want to know is this: what’s your relationship with Lin Jinghong?”
The old man said amiably, “I’m her father’s master. Going by seniority, she ought to call me ‘grandmaster’ or ‘founder.’”
“???” Su Yi’s eyes widened. Demon God Lin was the sole sovereign of the Spirit Martial Epoch, the man who used the power of reincarnation to bring order to everything beneath the heavens. This... is his master!?
An indescribable sense of absurdity coursed through Su Yi. He’d figured that the talisman would summon a powerful supporter, but he hadn’t expected someone whose cultivation was this unfathomably lofty!
It was simply... unreasonable!
Furthermore, the old man obviously recognized him; he immediately addressed him as Fellow Daoist!
A cold snort suddenly rang out, interrupting Su Yi’s conversation with the old man.
“Fellow Daoist, this is no time for you two to reminisce,” Celestial Venerate Jade Crane said expressionlessly. “If you want to take a moment to say your last words, go right ahead, but this is too much!”
The other Celestial Venerates were displeased too. Their expressions filled with murderous intent. A remnant of will, that’s all, yet he dares ignore us and converse with Su Yi as if we aren’t even here. What does he take us for?
The old man wasn’t the least bit annoyed. He surveyed the area, then sighed. “A group of Undying Realm Master Gods has gathered to bully you, Fellow Daoist, even though you’ve yet to become a god. You’ve truly been wronged. Even I can’t help but feel angry on your behalf.”
Su Yi laughed and shook his head. “I’ve long since gotten used to this sort of thing. I don’t feel at all aggrieved.”
The old man looked gratified. “Your breadth of spirit is far beyond those Master Gods.”
The Seven Great Celestial Venerates scowled. Is he making fun of us?
Celestial Venerate Cloud Tyrant couldn’t take it. He bellowed and drew his fingertip through the air. “Allow me to test just how powerful this old man’s remnant will is! How dare he be so ignorant and presumptuous?”
Clang!
The Golden Divine Execution Sword whooshed through the air, bringing with it taboo, murderous might as it descended upon the old man.
Luo Xuanji’s pupils constricted. She eyed the old man, ready to intervene and protect Su Yi the moment anything unexpected happened to his avatar of will.
Everyone else fixed their gaze on the old man, too. They planned to see just how capable this “mere” avatar of will was, and why he was so confident as to disregard everyone else here.
“I really shouldn’t have gotten involved in this, but since you summoned me, I naturally can’t remain a bystander.” The old man turned his head and said gently. His voice was unhurried, without the slightest change.
But everyone present was gobsmacked and overcome with astonishment!
This was because as soon as the old man spoke, the Golden Divine Execution Sword stopped in front of him. Strangely, the divine sword seemed as if a large, invisible hand were holding it in place. It was just three feet from the old man, but it could advance no further!
That wasn’t all. The murderous intent emanating from its edge was blocked, and it hovered there in stillness, like a tamed beast!
Gasps arose on all sides. Every last one of the Celestial Venerates looked stricken, and they all realized they’d misjudged the situation.
Especially Celestial Venerate Tyrant Cloud. His expression shifted dramatically, and he activated his cultivation base with all his might, but he could no longer direct the Golden Divine Execution Sword!
Beads of sweat formed on his forehead, and a chill coursed down his spine. What kind of ability is this? I’m a Master God, and I refined the Golden Divine Execution Sword a long time ago. How could he just take control!?
Luo Xuanji, who’d been ready and waiting to intervene, was unwittingly stunned, too.
When an expert took action, their skills were immediately obvious. But the old man hadn’t even taken action yet, yet he’d somehow subdued the sword headed his way. Who wouldn’t have been startled?
Meanwhile, the old man didn’t even seem to notice the attack or the onlookers' shock. He just addressed Su Yi, entirely unperturbed, “While I’m here, I’ll help you vent, and demand justice, too.”
In stark contrast with the crowd’s astonishment, Su Yi wasn’t all that surprised. This was Demon God Lin’s master! The grand-master of the mysterious spearwoman, Lin Jinghong!
What Su Yi really found strange was the remark the old man had made in passing. What does he mean, he ‘really shouldn’t have gotten involved in this?’ Could it be that there are other variables beyond this death trap? Could one of them perhaps have resolved this situation?
But before Su Yi could wrap his head around it, the old man laughed and clasped his fist. “Fellow Daoist, I’m about to display my meager skills.”
Isn’t he being a bit too modest? Su Yi laughed bitterly to himself, but outwardly, he clasped his fist and said, “Thank you!”
The old man smiled warmly, then turned to face his opponents for the first time.
The Seven Great Celestial Venerates’ hearts shook, and they readied themselves for battle. All of them circulated their cultivation bases to the limit, and all of them seethed with murderous intent.
The gods watching from afar held their breath and watched intently. By now, who could have failed to realize how terrifying the old man was? He might have been “just” a remnant of will, but not even Master Gods could look down on him!
The old man casually closed his hand in the air. The sealed Golden Divine Execution Sword landed in his palm. The whole process was as effortless as plucking a leaf from a tree.
Splurt!
Celestial Venerate Cloud Tyrant coughed up blood, his face racked with agony.
He’d used his entire cultivation base to refine the sword, only for the old man to sever the connection between them. This in turn made him suffer a backlash!
The crowd watched in horror. Who is that old man? How could he be so terrifying?
The old man, meanwhile, gently brushed his fingertip along the flat of the blade and whispered, “This sword doesn’t belong to you. In your hands, it’s truly a radiant pearl buried in the mud.”
Kcch!
The Golden Divine Execution Sword erupted with stinging golden light. In the old man’s hands, it displayed power terrifying beyond imagination. It was far stronger than when Celestial Venerate Cloud Tyrant used it!
The old man glanced at Celestial Venerates Jade Crane, Fiery Abyss, and Profound Frost. He sighed. “Then there’s the other three swords; they aren’t yours, either. The very idea is an insult to swords of such quality.”
The three Celestial Venerates shuddered, then attacked without the slightest hesitation.
“Attack!”
“Quick, attack together!”
Boom!
The three Celestial Venerates poured their full strength into the Azure Godslayer Sword, the Profound Water Divine Prison Sword, and the Fire God-Trapping Sword.
Them aside, Celestial Venerates Bright Universe, Purple Lightning, and Burning Wind attacked valiantly, no longer able to hold back. All of them displayed the full extents of their cultivation bases.
They even activated the Primordial Ancestral God treasure, the Dao-Severing Bone Spear!
Heaven and earth swayed as a tumultuous, apocalyptic vision descended onto the world once more.
But the old man just maintained his gentle smile. The only difference was that now, his sleeves billowed, and profound, inscrutable Dao Light surged from between his palms.
When he waved his hand through the air, a beam of clear light took the skies like a soaring dragon, rising into the nine heavens, then shooting in all ten directions.
