First Immortal of the Sword-Chapter 1925 - Like a Deity Pounding the Sky
Chapter 1925 - Like a Deity Pounding the Sky
The Nine Gates of Heaven protected the Immortal Realm’s borders. Similarly, there were thirteen defensive lines protecting the demon’s territories. They were known as the Thirteen Gates of the Spirit Domain. There were experts stationed at each of these garrisons.
Celestial Wolf Gate was one of the thirteen.
Prior to the Age of Fallen Immortals, Wang Ye had fought past it, creating a storm of bloodshed in the Spirit Domain.
The demons of the Spirit Domain saw it as the most humiliating battle in their history.
Afterward, the Nine Great Demon Races worked together to rebuild Celestial Wolf Gate from the ground up. They didn’t just place formations capable of destroying Great Realm experts; they even stationed three Demon Sovereigns there to oversee things.
And much like the Seventh Gate of Heaven, a barrier covered Celestial Wolf Gate. It was enough to keep even Great Realm experts out.
An old man stationed in one of the garrison’s halls sighed. “Who could have imagined that Wang Ye, that Tyrant, would reincarnate and return?”
He had a head of long golden hair and diamond-shaped pupils that shone with unearthly purple luster, and he emanated the characteristic aura of a Sky Demon Sovereign.
This was Demon Sovereign Qiu Chi, a prominent expert of the Floating Demons. He’d been the garrison master of Celestial Wolf Gate for the past thirty thousand years.
A moment later, Qiu Chi laughed. “But even if he’s reincarnated, he cannot turn this around. He cannot protect the Immortal Realm any longer. After all... he’s the Heretic Reincarnator, the one the gods do not tolerate!”
His voice was full of delight.
“The Nine Great Demon Races of the Spirit Domain have worked together to rally an enormous army one million strong. Its Demon Sovereigns number in the hundreds!” someone else chimed in.
“Moreover, over the years, we’ve arranged numerous pawns throughout the Immortal Realm. With their assistance, our forces will be able to smoothly enter the Immortal Realm. None will be able to stop them!” said another. He had cold, steely features, and he was unusually tall and stalwart, with blood-red eyes.
This was Yin Huafeng, a Demon Sovereign of the Silvermoon Demons.
“Now we just have to sit back and wait for the good news. Once the Tyrant’s reincarnation is dead, the gods have agreed to grant the Nine Great Demon Races a number of opportunities to ascend to the God Domain!” said a woman with long silver hair. She was nothing but smiles, and her eyes shone with eagerness.
Li Xueyi, a Demon Sovereign of the Formless Demons.
When she spoke of ascending to the God Domain, Demon Sovereigns Qiu Chi and Yin Huafeng’s gazes heated up.
“It’s a pity, but my cultivation base is insufficient. Such opportunities will surely be reserved for Profound Demon Sovereigns,” sighed Qiu Chi.
“No, to the best of my knowledge, it’s up to each of the Nine Great Demon Clans to determine how they’ll distribute their allotments. Every Demon Sovereign has a chance,” said Li Xueyi. “Even if we can’t get our hands on an opportunity, our clans will reward us. They might even arrange for us to cultivate in the Ancestral Demon Grounds!”
The Ancestral Demon Grounds! Qiu Chi and Yin Huafeng’s eyes flashed.
“We really might be able to vie for such an opportunity,” said Qiu Chi. “So long as we can enter the Ancestral Demon Grounds, we can rise to a new level of strength with ease!”
Yin Huafeng said suddenly, “But I heard that not long ago, something changed in the Ancestral Demon Grounds. Word’s been completely sealed off, so only the old-timers guarding the place know what exactly happened. Have you heard about that?”
Qiu Chi’s eyes narrowed. “I heard. I asked some of my clan’s old-timers. All they said was that the change in the Ancestral Demon Grounds is wonderful news!”
“Wonderful news?” Yin Huafeng said thoughtfully. “Don’t tell me the Nine Progenitors’ long-dormant spirits have awakened?
The Nine Progenitors’ spirits!
These were nine spirit bodies that the Nine Great Demon Races’ progenitors had left behind. Throughout the course of history, they’d only awakened twice.
The first time was during the Primeval Era, when a cataclysm swept both the Immortal Realm and the Spirit Domain. When the cataclysm targeting Great Realm experts fell, the progenitors’ spirits awakened from their deep dormancy. The nine of them attacked together, and it was their timely intervention that saved the Demon Sovereigns of the Nine Great Demon Races from annihilation.
The second time was during the Age of Fallen Immortals. Catastrophe befell the Spirit Domain too, but the progenitors intervened once more, helping their Demon Sovereigns avoid disaster!
Over the past few years, word had spread throughout the Nine Great Demon Races’ ranks that something had changed in the Ancestral Demon Grounds. Some suspected that the spirits of the Nine Progenitors had awakened once more!
It was just that no one could confirm this hypothesis. Only the old-timers stationed in the Ancestral Demon Grounds really understood what had changed.
“I’m sure we’ll find out what happened in the Ancestral Demon Grounds eventually,” said Li Xueyi.
Suddenly, a heaven-shaking explosion rang out. All of Celestial Wolf Gate swayed.
Even the hall the three Demon Sovereigns were gathered in shook, making their teacups clatter. All three experts’ hearts shook.
“What happened?”
“Let’s hurry and find out!”
The three of them rose and shot out of the hall. The sound of war bugles pierced the cloudy dome of heaven, resounding throughout the pass.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
Immediately afterward, the rapid-fire beating of a drum rang out, booming like thunder. The ninety thousand soldiers stationed here were startled into action. All of them set aside what they were doing and gathered immediately.
“We’re under attack——!”
Amidst the frantic commotion of voices, signal fires lit up on the beacon towers.
We... are under attack?
Everyone in Celestial Wolf Gate was stunned.
It had been a long, long time since Wang Ye invaded the Spirit Domain. No further battles had occurred in the thirteen garrisons along their defensive line since!
Yet now, someone dared attack Celestial Wolf Gate! Who was it? And how could they be so bold?
“Ten days ago, our forces set off for the Immortal Realm. Just last night, we received word that seven of the Nine Gates of Heaven have fallen already. Who could possibly be attacking Celestial Wolf Gate now?”
“Come on, let’s go have a look!”
Everyone in Celestial Wolf Gate was confused, and they found this unbelievable. All of them surged to the top of the walls.
But then, a clamor of voices arose.
“Just one person?”
Everyone was flabbergasted to discover that the “attackers” consisted of just one young man approaching from beneath the distant skies.
He was tall, upright, and clad in blue, with a yellow-skinned wine gourd hanging from his waist. His hair was tied into a casual Daoist topknot, and he seemed elegant and relaxed.
“You call this ‘under attack?’”
“What nonsense!”
“Quit blowing those horns! And stop beating those drums! It’s just some kid from who knows where. What need is there to mobilize our troops?”
When the experts of Celestial Wolf Gate heard they were “under attack,” they pictured a vast army. Thus, although they were surprised by their enemies’ audacity, they were alert, too, and they readied themselves for battle.
They would never have guessed their enemies consisted of just one person! Calling this an “attack” was simply a disgrace!
Meanwhile, Qiu Chi, Yin Huafeng, and Li Xueyi had appeared on the garrison walls too. When they saw that the new arrival was just one person, the three of them found it absurd too. Was this really worth beating the drums and blowing the horns over?
“It seems we’ve lived in peace for so long that we jump at the slightest disturbance. We’ve made fools out of ourselves,” Qiu Chi said with self-deprecation. Celestial Wolf Gate was enormous, yet one person had startled everyone here. If word got out, they’d become the laughingstocks of the Spirit Domain.
Yin Huafeng disagreed. “Daoist Brother, we caused quite a disturbance now, but that young man is still headed right toward us. Do you really think he’s just ignorant of the height of the heavens and the depths of the earth?”
Qiu Chi was instantly solemn, and his eyes narrowed.
“It seems that whoever he is, he’s from the Immortal Realm. Our armies have already invaded the Immortal Realm en masse, yet he made it across the Bloodthirsty Plains alive and well. No ordinary person could have accomplished that,” whispered Li Xueyi.
By now, Qiu Chi realized that something wasn’t right here. He bellowed, “Silence!”
His thunderous voice quieted the clamor of voices.

A moment later, he rose into the air, stood beneath the dome of heaven, and fixed his gaze on the young man in blue. “Who are you? Tell us your name!”
Everyone looked over. A murderous, austere atmosphere hung in the air. Heaven and earth were stifled and oppressive, and the originally blue skies were covered in a dark layer of cloud that blotted out the sun.
The young man in blue was, of course, Su Yi.
“Me?” Su Yi smiled, plucked the yellow-skinned wine gourd from his waist, and took a deep drink before responding. “Once, a long time ago, I fought my way into the Spirit Domain, and I broke in through this very pass. You could say I’m here today to retread a familiar road.”
His voice wasn’t at all loud, but every word resounded clearly throughout the surrounding area.
Most of the soldiers were baffled, but the three Demon Sovereigns reacted as if they’d been struck by lightning. Their eyes widened as they all recalled a certain someone...
The Tyrant! This guy’s Wang Ye’s reincarnation!
Their expressions shifted dramatically. All of them felt as if a giant hand had taken hold of their hearts and squeezed, hard.
How is this possible? Our armies have already invaded the Immortal Realm for the express purpose of snuffing the Tyrant’s reincarnation out. How could he fight his way through the forces stationed on the plains and show up at Celestial Wolf Gate alone?
For a moment, the three Demon Sovereigns were overcome with shock.
But Su Yi didn’t wait for them to come back to their senses. He’d already begun his offensive. He returned the wine gourd to his waist, stepped forward, and punched the air, his sleeves billowing around him. It was just a light, airy punch, without the slightest flourish, but when it landed....
Boom!
Heaven and earth swayed. It was as if lightning had struck flat ground.
The barrier covering Celestial Wolf Gate was strong enough to defend against the full-force attack of several Great Profound experts, but a single punch from Su Yi was enough to throw it into disarray. Ripples spread across its surface, and it caved in around the point of impact!
The shockwaves spread to Celestial Wolf Gate, making it sway violently. The ninety thousand demon experts on its walls cried out in alarm and horror.
One punch, and it was as if a deity were pounding the sky. He’d shaken Celestial Wolf Gate’s barrier! The sheer force of this attack made even the Demon Sovereign’s hearts quiver. All three of them completely lost their cool.
