First Immortal of the Sword-Chapter 1916 - An Unprecedented, Forbidden Path
Chapter 1916 - An Unprecedented, Forbidden Path
“Why do I get the sense that this ‘Graveyard of the Gods’ is targeting the power of Li Fuyou’s Dao Imprint?” the gaunt monk holding a Buddhist kingdom aloft said out of nowhere.
The gods’ pupils constricted. That was entirely possible!
“Li Fuyou died a long time ago, and he never mastered the power of reincarnation. How could he possibly have invited this taboo divine tribulation that practically only exists in legends?” said the youth on the wooden sword. “Seems to me that this tribulation is targeting reincarnation, not him!”
The gods’ frowned, a bit uncertain.
“Don’t you think there’s no point discussing all that now?” said the woman on the Vermillion Bird. “If you ask me, we’d best focus on how we’re going to rid ourselves of the Heretic Reincarnator. If he gets an opportunity to return to the God Domain... Hah! I’m afraid all of your Divine Thrones will be stripped away! I just hope that you can make a decision before the Path of Divinity appears in the Immortal Realm. Quit all this hemming and hawing!”
...With that, the woman seated on the Vermillion Bird flew off.
The other gods sank into silence, their expressions shifting and uncertain.
“I don’t want to see Li Fuyou return to the God Domain, especially since he controls the power of reincarnation in this incarnation. He presents... far too great a threat...” someone murmured.

They could see the strange tribulation targeting Su Yi. Li Fuyou was right in the thick of it, swinging his sword deep within the tribulation clouds and slaughtering one illusory, godlike figure after another.
He cut them down as if they were made of rotten wood. None could stand in his way. He was proud and terrifying.
The sight triggered memories long covered in dust, a time they couldn’t bear to recall.
A long, long time ago, that cold, cruel sword cultivator slew countless deities on the Boundless Battlefield. Rivers of divine blood flowed from the edge of his sword!
Back then, an oppressive atmosphere hung over the Boundless Battlefield, like a curtain of darkness filling everyone’s hearts with despair. In the end, legendary experts of the God Domain joined forces against him. If not, that sword cultivator would undoubtedly have turned the Boundless Battlefield into a mass divine grave.
“That’s right. We cannot let him return alive!” someone said with staunch determination.
“Then we’ll just have to do everything we can to halt his advance and snuff him out in the Immortal Realm!” said the youth standing on a wooden sword, his eyes glinting with murderous intent.
He’d only said this when there was a disturbance in the crowd.
Li Fuyou had reached the very heart of that unparalleled grand tribulation. He’d swept through every enemy in his path, and soon, the clouds filling the sky split.
The golden electric light at the heart of the clouds instantly poured down like a waterfall. The tribulation broke, and the clouds scattered!
The onlookers suspected that this was one of the Eight Taboo Divine Tribulations of legend, a strange tribulation that could destroy even gods, yet now, it went up in a puff of smoke.
When the gods watching from across endless time and space saw this, their hearts shook, and their expressions shifted.
It was also then that they saw Li Fuyou look their way.
His calm gaze was entirely devoid of emotion. There was no hatred, no anger, and no enmity. He was as calm as could be, yet the sight made the gods’ hearts clench.
After getting bitten by a snake, men jumped even at the sight of coiled ropes, and Li Fuyou was far scarier than a snake. No one knew how many gods had died by his hand. To this date, numerous old-timers struggled to eat in sleep and peace, all because of him.
This threat was like a lingering shadow over their hearts. There was no getting rid of it!
“When I return, we can have a rematch on the Boundless Battlefield.” Li Fuyou’s voice rang out, crossing endless space and time. The gods heard every word clearly.
They were instantly enraged, but before they could say anything, the tribulation clouds dissipated, and their view disappeared completely.
“He thinks he can return? He’s dreaming!”
“The day the Path of Divinity returns will be the day you die!”
The gods’ infuriated voices echoed through the air before everything gradually gave way to silence.
......
The Cave of Divine Tears.
Su Yi stood in the air, taking all of this in.
He couldn’t hear the gods’ conversation, but he did hear Li Fuyou’s calm, cold voice.
‘A rematch on the Boundless Battlefield?’ Is that where my fifth incarnation died? Su Yi pondered.
“After overcoming this tribulation, you’ve stepped onto an unknown, forbidden path full of mysteries. Should you succeed in walking in, you’ll one day be able to end the gods. Should you fail, you’ll face certain doom.”
Li Fuyou drifted down from the dome of heaven and looked at Su Yi, his eyes shining with a hint of inscrutable light.
“What do you mean?” Su Yi’s heart shook.
“That was a divine tribulation thought only to exist in legends, one of the Eight Taboo Divine Tribulations,” said Li Fuyou. His voice didn’t so much as ripple with emotion. “You could call this tribulation the Graveyard of the Gods.
“A tribulation capable of destroying gods targeted you during your breakthrough into the Great Unity Stage. To the best of my knowledge, no such thing has happened since the genesis of our epoch of civilization. No record of this exists in the Immortal Realm’s history. No Great Realm expert has experienced this in the God Domain, either. That means that your future path is taboo and full of unknowns, as no one else has ever walked a path like it. That includes me.”
An uncharacteristic hint of anticipation appeared on Li Fuyou’s face. “This is exactly the path I wanted to see. I’m looking forward to it.”
Before his voice had even finished echoing through the air, he transformed into a beam of light and disappeared into the Sword of the Nine Hells. The Sword of the Nine Hells then returned to Su Yi’s sea of consciousness.
Boom!
The tribulation light filling the skies fell down to earth like a sudden downpour.
Unlike before, the tribulation light shone with glittering golden luster, resplendent, mysterious, and grand!
Su Yi was instantly bathed in light.
His body was badly battered, his cultivation base was on the verge of drying up, and his soul was weak and depleted. The golden light was like rain after a long drought, while he was like a dried-up tree; when the rain fell, he erupted with shocking new life force, and his wounds rapidly knit together.
Like a phoenix reborn amidst the flames, Su Yi transformed!
Boom!
Su Yi stood beneath the dome of heaven, enveloped in glittering golden tribulation light, as brilliant as the sun. He illuminated the entire overcast, desolate stretch of heaven and earth. Holy golden light covered the forsaken ruins of the prior epoch.
A full three days passed.
As Su Yi refined and absorbed the tribulation light, the golden sheen covering the landscape gradually disappeared.
Meanwhile, Su Yi’s cultivation base advanced to the Great Unity Stage!
Within his body, the Divine Platform manifested of his foundations in the Grand Dao condensed a chaos-like Fire Source. The golden divine flames emanating from it seemed to contain limitless, mysterious, seemingly eternal power.
A Grand Dao Fire Source!
This was a power of the Grand Dao cultivators that could only condense upon reaching the Great Unity Stage. Their Daos were eternal so long as their Fire Source burned!
But Su Yi’s Grand Dao Fire Source was unique. Unlike other Great Unity Stage cultivators’ Fire Sources, his contained a stretch of chaos. It was full of profound, inscrutable power. Even just the aura emanating from it seemed undying and eternal.
When Su Yi circulated his cultivation base, his Immortal Origin Space rumbled and boomed, and strange phenomena surged from his Grand Dao Divine Platform. They completely enveloped the glittering golden Grand Dao Fire Source.
It seemed they were gathering power on the Fire Source’s behalf. It seemed that once it accumulated enough power, it could completely ignite!
I finally succeeded.... Su Yi was inwardly quite emotional.
His two months in the Cave of Divine Tears had been perilous; he’d come a hair’s breadth from death. It had been brutal torment, especially his battles with divine wraiths. Each such battle was a true life-or-death tempering.
He repeatedly took injuries and recovered, only to get injured again. He fought over and over again...
He’d used up almost all of his immortal medicines, and he’d almost reached the end of his rope, but... All of his sacrifices had been worth it. Even in this forsaken ruin of the past epoch, he’d relied on his own strength to create the opportunity he needed to prove his Dao and break through. In doing so, he invited a grand tribulation he could never have realized in the outside world!
Li Fuyou told him that this tribulation was full of taboo, strange power, as well as the aura of the prior epoch’s Epoch Tribulation. Throughout the ages, no matter where you looked, it was unique and unprecedented. This gave Su Yi equally unprecedented foundations in the Great Unity Stage, and a unique Grand Dao Fire Source!
When he sensed his earth-shaking transformation, Su Yi couldn’t help but feel overcome with excitement. An impulse struck him, and he couldn’t help but throw back his head and roar.
His voice boomed like thunder, echoing throughout the surrounding area and making heaven and earth quiver. All of creation swayed.
His roar expressed a delight too great for words!
Upon stepping into the Great Martial Stage, his combat strength was more or less on par with his sixth incarnation’s peak strength, but he hadn’t really surpassed Wang Ye.
Now, upon stepping into the Great Unity Stage, he was far beyond Wang Ye’s peak strength. The difference was enormous!
This breakthrough had been Su Yi’s goal ever since he stepped into the Immortal Dao. Now, he’d finally realized it. He’d never truly taken any of his enemies in the Immortal Realm to heart—no, what he really cared about was surpassing his past selves!
Wang Ye had been a unique expert, and he’d dominated the Immortal Realm, sword in hand. He’d defended the Nine Gates of Heaven, and tales of his accomplishments were spoken of throughout the ages!
Despite the passage of countless years, his reputation and accomplishments were carved deeply into the hearts of the inhabitants of the Immortal Realm. His influence remained.
Someone like that was incredibly difficult to surpass!
Yet now, at least in terms of strength, Su Yi had done just that.
And Su Yi was convinced that when he realized the grand ambitions he announced at the Academy of Eternal Night’s re-opening ceremony, his reputation would surpass Wang Ye’s, too.
Su Yi wasn’t concerned about his reputation, but he did care about surpassing his past selves in every way.
My fifth incarnation slew gods in the Great Profound Stage. I wonder if I can do the same at my current level....
As Su Yi recalled what Li Fuyou had told him, he couldn’t help but feel eager for a chance to test himself against a god.
But then, perhaps because his earlier gratified roar had caused a disturbance, or perhaps because something had somehow sensed his heart’s desire, something unexpected happened.
Whoosh!
A battered, broken ring took to the air, bursting with monstrous, dense death qi. Then, that female divine wraith appeared before him once more!
