Chapter 686: Steal

A few hours ago,

A goat-horned Winged-Demon stood at the summit of a lone hill and looked at a fairway mountain range with a solemn tone. Next to him stood a towering dragon with black and reddish scales who appeared ready to flee.

"Are you really going to enter the Devil Crow's lair now, Azgan?" The Dragon, Mirigon, asked in a stiff tone.

"This is the right moment, my friend. And even if I got captured, nothing will change for everyone." Saying so, he recited a unique chant in an abyssal language and first activated a powerful Concealing ability.

"Chaos Veil."

Then, he took a pendant from his space ring and wore it over his neck before activating its effect.

It was a unique ability called Occult Nullification. Using this ability on oneself would nullify any attempts to discern the demon's powers, leaving behind an occult void that swallows all inquiries.

Then, he ripped a unique abyssal scroll, which he took from his spatial ring. After that, he threw a dark elemental crystal into the magical formation that appeared under his feet.

A moment later, Azgan's existence started disappearing from Mirigon's eyes.

No, he suddenly forgot whom he had met before and showed a dumbfounded look.

"Why am I here? I feel like I have forgotten about someone so important!" He felt that the forgotten person's image appeared blurry and was startled. 𝐟𝐫𝗲𝗲𝘄𝗲𝗯𝗻𝐨𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝐨𝗺

But as he recalled what he did before coming here, Azgan's face and all the things he discussed with him started to unveil themselves.

"What a terrifying spell! I might have forgotten about his existence if I hadn't known him for a long time. Then, I should inform the Human Mage Commander to prepare for the big show."

As the Chaos Dragon was ready to go back and do his part of the plan, Azgan descended from the mountain and flew towards the direction of the Devil Crow's Lair.

The wind whispered as Azgan, now concealed by the Chaos Veil and Occult Nullification, soared through the darkened skies toward the ominous Devil Crow's Lair.

His journey soon led him through treacherous mountain passes and shadowy valleys. The landscape around him seemed to blur and warp, responding to the enigmatic concealment that veiled his existence. The Devil Crow's Lair entrance loomed closer at the base of a gigantic mountain, looking it more like a mouth to the abyss itself.

As Azgan approached the lair entrance, he noticed the subtle shifts in the air—an unsettling stillness that hinted at the eerie power within. The mixture of unique Darkness and Chaos power dwelled all over the entrance, giving him a strange sense of uneasiness.

'I've to be more careful from now on. A tiny bit of my wisdom power or even my breath can expose my location.' Holding his breath, he stepped on the rough surface like a feather and started walking.

Entering the Lair, Azgan navigated its labyrinthine corridors, guided only by the mystical intuition that whispered within his hidden form. Occult Nullification continued to guard his presence, ensuring that even the most cunning demonic entity dwelling within remained oblivious to his intrusion.

For more than 30 minutes, he continued to walk in the strange cavern-like structure and soon noticed he finally reached the deepest part of the cavern.

Finally, Azgan discovered a forbidden chamber pulsating with otherworldly energy deep within the heart of the Devil Crow's Lair. In the center, the ominous gigantic figure of the Devil Crow lay on its nest made of bones and skulls. Its eyes, gleaming with infernal intelligence, locked onto Azgan.

No, its gaze was currently focused at the cavern's entrance.

As he hesitated, a powerful wisdom power came from a faraway region. It even caused a strange, chilling sensation to the surrounding air, alerting the Devil Crow even more.

That wisdom power felt so familiar to Azgan, causing his devious lips to arch upward.

'Lord of Chaos has finally revealed his presence. Now, what will you do, Devil Crow?' Azgan quietly stood in silence and waited for the Devil Crow's following action.

Just as he had expected, the Devil Crow let out an angry screech, flapped its gigantic, eerie dark wings, and shot toward the cavern's entrance from inside. It didn't even mind the hanging Stalagmites in its way and pushed through. Before long, the gigantic Devil Crow arrived at the entrance, let out another angry screech while releasing wisdom power in all directions, and flew towards the direction where the powerful wisdom power came from.

'I can finally do my job properly.' Azgan quietly walked towards the Devil Crow's nest and soon saw a unique egg-shaped thing.

'That human irregular is indeed telling the truth.' Although it was around the size of his head, he strangely felt a unique life essence within it.

He hurriedly walked closer to the nest and took the gigantic blackish Egg with his demonic hands.

Just as he tried to walk away, a strange sense of prying sensation appeared from somewhere.

Simultaneously, a thundering shout of the Devil Crow, filled with pure wisdom power, echoed in every corner of the Fourth Layer.

"You dare to steal my Egg?"

Azgan's heart skipped a beat as the resonating voice echoed through the cavern, a voice that bore the weight of the authority of the Devil Crow. The Devil Crow, now searching for the powerful entity, halted mid-flight.

"I knew this wouldn't be easy," Azgan muttered under his breath, cradling the egg-shaped object in his demonic hands. The prying sensation grew stronger as he tried to escape the nest. At that moment, he realized some connection must be shared between this Egg and the Devil Crow.

With a calculated move, Azgan activated another concealed ability—Ephemeral Eclipse. The surroundings plunged into a momentary darkness, distorting the perception of reality.

Although it momentarily cut off the strange connection between the Devil Crow and the Egg, Azgan knew it wouldn't last long.

'I need to leave this cavern first.'

He swiftly retreated, navigating the labyrinthine corridors with the stolen Egg in tow. The pulsating energy within the Egg seemed to have some separate consciousness as it tried continuously to find a way out of the dark power concealing its location.

'As I thought, this Egg must be some kind of trump card for that Devil Crow.'

As Azgan reached the cavern entrance, the Devil Crow, soaring in the dark sky, let out a furious roar. Its eyes glowed with an infernal rage, and its wings beat against the air as it prepared to demolish everything in its path.

Suddenly, it sensed a tiny presence at the cavern's entrance and plunged from the dark sky like a rocket.

'No good! I need to escape.'

Swift as a phantom, Azgan glided through the Lair's entrance and soared into the darkened skies.

"Where do you think you are going? Whoever you are, you can't escape from my grasp as long as you hold the Egg. Give up and surrender." An eerie, hoarse voice reached Azgan's air as he flapped his wings hard and flew in the direction of the Ancient Trinket forest.

"Like hell, I will give up after coming this far." He shouted back at the monstrous, eerie crow.

Like a cat and mouse, the chase lasted over 30 hours. Azgan and the Devil Crow flew incredibly fast like a sonic boom, and rippled the air.

The continuous black flame attack from behind made Azgan flee in more desperation. He knew that even a single mistake could cost his life and continued to fly madly.

After some time, he finally saw the outer region of the Ancient Trinket forest and was elated.

But simultaneously, he felt the Devil Crow's presence suddenly appear above his head, its wrathful cries echoing through the darkened skies.

"I finally caught up to you!!! Let's see who is going to save you now!" A cold voice reached Azgan's ears, and a strange fear gripped his heart.

Simultaneously, he saw that the Devil Crow's gigantic metal-like Claw moved at an incredible speed and almost arrived above his head.

Just as he felt his head was about to be destroyed, a strange invisible power pulled him away and saved him.

Soon, an appearance of a gigantic 30 to 40-meter-tall tree made of eerie bones and flesh appeared in mid-air, sending chilling power in all directions.

The Lord of Chaos manifested in the skies above, a towering tree of eerie bones and flesh that exuded an overwhelming primordial power. The Devil Crow momentarily halted in its pursuit and screeched in frustration as it retracted its leg.

Azgan, still holding the stolen Egg, felt relief as the Lord of Chaos gazed upon him. The invisible force that had pulled him away from the Devil Crow's wrath was a testament to the Lord's intervention.

"You dare to interfere, Lord of Chaos!" the Devil Crow spat, its voice dripping with defiance.

The Lord of Chaos responded with a resonating voice that echoed through the Fourth Layer, "This realm is mine to govern from the very beginning, and its inhabitants always dance to the rhythm of chaos. Your petty squabbles disrupted the harmony I have woven and caused a huge disarray."

With its branches extending like tendrils of shadow, the colossal tree radiated a mysterious power that seemed to impose order upon the chaotic energies surrounding it. Despite its formidable might, the Devil Crow hesitated in the face of the Lord of Chaos.

Azgan, seizing the opportunity, retreated safely from the confrontation.
