Finding my Parents in Another World-Chapter 53: Antidote
The seemingly perpetual look of madness that was on Isadora’s face had vanished. Bathed in the dim glow of the purple light of the hall, covered in blood she looked almost more regal than her father. There was only one king Pende would ever follow, but in that moment Isadora would have been a close second.
Fermi Ja, on the other hand, looked the polar opposite of regal. For a moment when he had first seen his daughter, his face had morphed into something horrific. A mixture of pain, wrath and betrayal passed over so quickly over that mask of a face that anyone not looking directly at his face would have missed it. Now however his face was back to the expressionless mask it was before.
"So you too huh." He said simply, gently prodding the Sciadorm beneath him. The beast lumbered over to where Brunaulf stood, and the two stood side by side for the first time. Unlike his king though, Brunaulf’s face was an open book, morphed into scathing rage.
"What exactly do you think you are doing child? Aiding murderers and thieves? Do you even know who these fucking people are?" His voice thundered out.
Isadora casually strode forward. "I do. Do you know who you are allying with Uncle?"
"I stand with the Crown. As I always have. And as you should do. Come now child, it’s not too late. Come to this side and all may yet be forgiven."
Isadora laughed. "Oh, Uncle. You must truly not get my father then if you believe all will be forgiven now."
Brunaulf turned once to look at Fermi Ja. If possible, the tyrant’s face looked even deader than before, even more expressionless, even more cold. Brunaulf sighed and then turned back towards Isadora.
"So be it then."
Isadora walked a bit further, until she was beside Pende, who was now on his knees.
"Enea?" Pende asked looking up at Isadora, whose eyes were still fixed on her father.
"Alive. Though a bit injured. She is resting near the gate."
"All the soldiers are dead?"
"All of them stationed here, yes. Well not all of them, a majority fleed once we started attacking. But the ones who remained are dead."
"Good then."
Isadora shook her head grimly, her eyes still fixed ahead of her.
"Reinforcements are coming. An Emperor Knight. And who knows how many soldiers. We need to finish this fast."
’Finish’ this huh
It didn’t escape Pende that Isadora had refused to call it what it was. Assassinating the tyrant. Her father.
Instead she quickly changed the subject.
"What happened to the old man?" She asked nodding towards the crater where Zack had fallen down.
"Ask your father." Pende grunted slowly standing up.
"Ah, the Sciadorm."
"Did you kill him?"
"Not exactly. I deduced he was hypnotized somehow, and so I poisoned him."
"Poisoned him?!"
"Don’t worry," Isadora said with a smile, the menacing look back on her face. "Poison is the best antidote to hypnosis."
Pende sighed. The woman truly was mad. But for now he had bigger problems to worry about, and any ally, even a mad poisoner, was useful to him.
He looked ahead at the bigger problems. Brunaulf already had the two dual hammers ready, swinging them menacingly. Fermi Ja sat on top of his mount, regarding them coldly.
Isadora didn’t seem to be in the mood to wait for them to strike first. She raised her hand and several snakes shot out from her cloak, twisting and turning through the air as they made their way towards the two.
Brunaulf sighed. It seemed he still didn’t want to attack the daughter of his king. However he had no choice. Raising his hammer, he smashed down on the snakes, crushing them like ants. However the snakes weren’t destroyed on being crushed. A new snake arose from their crushed remains, shooting relentlessly towards the General. Cursing, he manuevered around the snakes instead, which immediately changed targets to the tyrant.
Fermi Ja, as usual, didn’t bother to dodge. He prodded the beast beneath him, and once more the Sciadorm became a meat shield, raising its paws and absorbing the snake’s bite while crushing their heads. This time the snakes didn’t regenerate, but they didn’t get destroyed without biting the Sciadorm. There was a low moan of pain from the animal, but otherwise it didn’t protest further.
Meanwhile Pende resumed his attack. Isadora’s first assault had given him the appropriate window. While Brunaulf was distracted from dodging the snakes, he shot forward towards the General, his blades skidding across the floor.
Raising his arms, he began rotating the blades counterclockwise. Then using the momentum from the spin, he jumped twisting in the air and shooting down towards Brunaulf, as the General just dodged the snakes.
With a defiant roar, Brunaulf swung his hammers, intending to crush Pende between them. The momentum of Pende’s spin was too strong however, and this time he was able to disintegrate, or rather splay the water hammers before they could even come close. Brunaulf cursed, and immediately abandoned the two hammers from the side causing them to abruptly splash down. Instead he pointed his palm to the ground, and a water hammer conjured up right beneath him. Using it as a pole, he rose higher up in the ground just in time as Pende’s spinning blades crashed into it destroying it immediately. However Brunaulf had already achieved his aim with that hammer; he was able to use it as a pole to rise above Pende’s attack. As the water pole hammer broke down, Brunaulf rolled and stood up on the opposite side.
There was no rest for him there though. Isabella immediately attacked him with her sword, which mid swing changed into the fangs of a snake. Brunaulf didn’t have time to conjured another water hammer, so he was forced to block the first strike with his arm, holding it in front of his face and wincing at the snake bite. However he caught the neck of the snake, holding onto it and using it as leverage to pull Isadora towards him and then kicked her in the chest, sending her flying into the wall.
Meanwhile Pende faced down the enraged Fermi Ja. The Sciadorm was the main issue, Pende had to keep looking down at the beasts legs and its wings to keep track of its movements. Meanwhile, the tyrant had fashioned a sword on top of the beast and swung down at Pende. He blocked the strike fairly easily with one of his arm blades, and swung the other in a counterattack. Fermi Ja twisted the animal beneath him, out of range of Pende’s arm and then the Sciadorm attacked him with its talons. Now it was Pende’s turn to block however. He raised his right foot back and blocked the talons of the beast with his leg blades. Then using his arm and leg as fulcrums, Pende twisted in the air, bringing his other leg in to attack Fermi Ja while at the same time using his other hand to attack the Sciadorm. Fermi Ja grunted and jumped backwards to dodge the arc of the blade, but the Sciadorm wasn’t so lucky. The beast had to stop it’s attack on Pende’s right leg to dodge his left hand, and although it was able to dodge the latter, Pende struck at it with his now free leg instead. The blade penetrated the beast’s foreleg, leading to it crying out in pain and running back along with its master. It stood away from Pende now, the wound on its left foreleg gushing blood. It’s hindlegs had already been injured by Zack previously and now the beast was limping, almost unable to walk itself.
Pende still looked down, still being rightfully wary about the shimmering face of the Sciadorm. But that caused him to miss the approaching General Brunaulf until it was too late. He felt the unmistakable droplets of water before he looked up to see the huge hammer crashing down on him.
It was too late to dodge, the hammer was too close. And if he blocked, the hammer would turn around the blocking point to hit him again. Cursing Pende raised his arms, spinning his blades furiously, trying something, anything, to lessen the blow of impact.
A flash.
Like lightning, a flash of electricity shot through the air, passing along the water hammer faster than Brunaulf could possibly disconnect it. He tried though, and abruptly the hammer above Pende turned to water and splashed down harmlessly.
But this time the sparks of electricity travelled too fast for Brunaulf to disconnect his hammer in time. They seemed to pass through the air itself and struck him full on, causing him to jerk up and start convulsing as the full shock of current passed through him. He was surrounded by his own splashed water, which were perfect conductors of electricity. Still convulsing he somehow jumped back and fell against a dry part of the throne. The electric attack was gone, but they had severely damaged the General, who lay panting on the ground, unable to even stand up.
Pende looked up, towards where the electric magik had come from, where an old man had gone flying a while back.
And sure enough, now he stood there, a look of determination on his face, his staff held high. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
Zack was back on their side. And thanks to the Sciadorm, he had [[Universal Conductor]] unlocked at his side.
