Favorite of the Beast-world: I Got Rich Through Farming-Chapter 323 - 210: Her Dearest and Most Beloved + Thank You
He had just sensed her aura, but along with it was an unusually strong and unfamiliar King Beast’s presence. A strange panic and wariness instantly rose within him.
However, when he rushed over, he saw her walking out of the forest as if nothing was wrong, clutching a pile of plain wooden boxes. There was no suspicious stranger following her.
"I ran into Ze Sheng. He gave me all of this."
"Ze Sheng?" Mi Yin furrowed his brow. ’That sounds like the name of some annoying male.’
Only then did An Jin remember that the two had never met.
In truth, she wasn’t very familiar with Ze Sheng herself, but afraid that her little snake would get jealous, she patiently explained their recent encounter and the short version of how they’d met.
He nodded, but his newfound unease hadn’t faded. His gaze fell upon the wooden boxes in her arms. "What’s in these?"
"Blood Crystals."
"..." His expression darkened, and he said nothing. He picked a box at random and opened it. Sure enough, it was filled to the brim with Blood Crystals.
Dazzling red Crystal Stones, as vibrant as fresh blood, were packed densely inside the wooden box, without a single gap between them.
’How generous of him.’
Mi Yin knew these precious Crystal Stones were as rare as Green Crystals, but they were even more difficult to find due to the harsh conditions required to harvest them.
’He often collected Green Crystals for An Jin, but that was because he was her mate. Who was this Ze Sheng to give equally precious Blood Crystals to a stranger he’d only met twice?’
’This was simply too bizarre.’
"Is he mated?" Mi Yin suddenly asked. He wasn’t this grave even when facing a beast tide, and his fingers tightened slightly.
"Of course. He’s lived for a long time—he must be over a hundred years old. Chi Li seems to know him well. That’s what he told me," An Jin answered truthfully.
This was what confused her as well. In the Beast World, it was rare for a male to show such consideration for a female who wasn’t his mate.
Only then did Mi Yin’s gloomy expression relax. ’Oh, so he’s just some decrepit old geezer. No threat to me at all.’
The setting sun cast a soft glow, bathing the entire forest in a warm, yellow halo. The shadows of all things grew long and faint, and the beasts of the jungle returned to their lairs with the day’s successful hunt.
Ze Sheng concealed his aura and flew high into the sky. Just as he was about to leave, he saw An Jin walking away hand-in-hand with another male.
He froze for a moment, his gaze irresistibly drawn to them.
’Even though I keep telling myself she isn’t *her* anymore—at least, not right now—my heart still aches at this beautiful, harmonious sight.’
As if sensing something, Mi Yin turned his head and looked coldly toward the sky, his blood-red snake pupils narrowing into dangerous slits.
"HISSS~" ’Strange, what just flashed past? It actually triggered my beastly instincts—my innate killing intent and wariness.’
Just as he retracted his questioning gaze, he caught an unexpected glimpse of a silver-white feather that had just floated down near his feet.
A faint luster shimmered across the feather, and it reeked of the hateful scent of an unfamiliar male—another King Beast.
He picked it up with a blank expression.
"Hey, that’s Ze Sheng’s feather! How did it end up on the ground?" An Jin hurried over.
"Ze Sheng? That old male?" He twirled the feather between his long fingers. ’Strange, it doesn’t look like it came from someone old.’
"..." An Jin’s lips twitched. ’Ze Sheng looks just as young as you,’ she thought, ’but his age is a fact, so it’s not my place to say.’
"Get rid of this feather." He immediately did so himself, tossing it back onto the ground.
An Jin didn’t have time to pick it up before he pulled her into his arms.
A terrifying aura exploded from his body, pressing down on everything around them. His red pupils narrowed into dangerous slits. "That feather has a tracking function, just like that Merfolk’s Shark Pearl. Do you still want to keep it?"
"...???"
Mi Yin turned back to her and smiled, but his expression was a sheet of ice. "Don’t tell me that old geezer didn’t mention any of this?"
"He said it was just an ordinary feather with no other use."
"Hah. A manipulative old bastard. He already has a mate, yet he’s still preying on other females," Mi Yin said coldly. "The next time I see him, I’ll kill him."
"..."
"So, do you still want to keep this feather?" He seemed to be asking a question, but the veiled threat in his expression had already given her the answer.
An Jin kept her head down, not seeing his expression. But the moment she heard the feather had a tracking function, she was already lamenting how treacherous people could be.
’Xi’s Shark Pearl was an accident, and he only did it to save me. Besides, it’s been so long that the Shark Pearl has fused with my body and can’t be removed. Not to mention, he’s barely ever used its tracking function.’
’But a stranger is a different matter entirely.’ She quickly shook her head. "I don’t want it."
A rare smile touched Mi Yin’s eyes. He took out a red necklace and carefully fastened it around her neck. "This is for you."
"Oh! So this is why you’ve been so busy lately, staying up all night. Were you making this?"
He nodded with a soft hum of affirmation. The sight of the necklace he had crafted with his own hands against her pale, delicate neck was unbelievably beautiful.
The blood-red Crystal Stone swaying just below her collarbones made his chest burn and his breath catch in his throat.
"This necklace contains a drop of my Essence Blood, which I extracted and made into a Blood Essence." He lowered his gaze to her wide, astonished eyes, a small smile playing on his lips. He reached out, his cool fingertips gently caressing her lips. "It’s the only one I have. It’s for you."
Only a King Beast can create Essence Blood. It can block a single fatal attack, even one from a being more powerful than a King Beast. Used correctly, it is essentially a second life.
Creating a single drop of Essence Blood takes months, or even years, and saps the creator of most of their combat strength. Most King Beasts would only use it as a final resort to save their own life in the face of a powerful enemy; they would never give it away lightly.
...unless it was for the one they loved most in the world, whose life and safety they valued above all else—even far more than their own.
"...Thank you." Once she understood the full implications, An Jin’s eyes couldn’t help but well up.
"Then what about my reward?"
An Jin stood on her tiptoes. With one arm already around her waist, he bent down slightly, allowing her soft, fragrant lips to land perfectly on his cheek.
In that instant, Mi Yin felt that all his recent hardship had been worth it. He would willingly do anything and everything for her.
The two returned home hand-in-hand. Wisps of smoke and the aroma of cooking wafted from the house. When they pushed open the door, they were surprised to find not only Ling Hong waiting for them, but Chi Li was there too, apparently to "mooch a free meal."
