Fated To Three, Betrayed By All… Until She Rose.-Chapter 61: Punish her.
Kael.
I remember the day Chalice told my brothers and I about the pregnancy. She had been all smiles, her full auburn hair was styled into a high ponytail and she was dressed in a simple floral dress.
It was also the first time I’d ever seen her without makeup. Yet, she looked so beautiful.
So exquisite.
She had looked like something straight out of a dream as she plopped the medical report onto the table and squealed;
"I’m pregnant!"
At the time, I had been too stunned to react. I wasn’t even sure I wanted to be a father yet... But something about her smile... about the sureness in her eyes had reassured me in ways I couldn’t quite explain.
"I am pregnant, guys! I just found out today!"
Caelum had been over the moon at the news. The only person who had been visibly perplexed was Zevran. He immediately started prancing about the room, a wild expression on his face. And then, he turned to me and asked;
"Can we ask her to go for another pregnancy test?"
His response had stunned me, and for a moment, I stared at him like I hadn’t seen him before. "What?"
"Can we ask her to abort the baby?"
Hell, there was nothing he didn’t ask us to do that day; He even went as far as questioning if we were ’ready’ to be parents. If she was ’healthy enough’ to be a mother.
And I bet he’s happy now.
Happy now that the baby is gone. Which was another loss forced upon us by Leilani.
I balled my hands into fists as I glared hard at a sleeping Chalice. She looked very pale from losing so much blood. Tons of devices were connected to her body in tubes, and every now and then, she would tremble in her sleep, her eyes twitching as she cried out; "Don’t hurt my baby, he’s innocent!"
The scene shattered whatever was left of my heart and it worried me more to know that she would have to wake up soon to face reality. To learn the truth... that the baby was gone.
Her son. Our son... was gone.
I growled; "As long as that Frostclaw boy is behind Leilani, we cannot touch her. So we need to come up with something really vile."
"Should we have her kidnapped?" This time, it was Caelum who asked, and as usual, Zevran was quiet. He seemed to be mulling over something, his brows knitted together as he sorted through the files on the desk in front of him.
His silence enraged me more than Leilani’s earlier cockiness. I snapped; "Zevran?"
He raised his head to meet my gaze. "Huh?"
"Do you still love Chalice?"
"I do. What’s the matter?"
I rolled my eyes. "Maybe the fact that you don’t seem affected at all by what happened to her is my problem!" I seethed. "I know you have some stupid soft spot for Leilani but the wench went too far this time!"
Zevran looked away from me to stare at Chalice, and when he looked at me again, I finally realized something that I hadn’t seen before: he was glad. Not happy per say, but relieved.
He dropped his voice a few notches and drawled; "I don’t have a soft spot for Leilani... I just think the whole issue with the baby happened too fast, not giving us enough room to consider if we really wanted one or not."
And I hate to admit it, but he was right.
I still couldn’t wrap my head around how one night, we’d all been fucking like we were some freaking animals in a zoo, and the very next day, she was so excited, informing us of some pregnancy.
It had been quick— yes.
But that doesn’t take away the fact that this was all Leilani’s fault.
I turned to Zevran. "We still need to punish Leilani for it. We need to hurt her for hurting Chalice. Her family wants to press charges but I don’t think that’s good enough for her. I want her to pay with her blood. To hurt like Chalice hurts..."
"She wouldn’t be punished justly by the law since she’s with Frostclaw." Zevran said, and I nodded in agreement.
Finally, he sees it. Findlay, he’s on the same page as us!
"So we need to do something outside the law. Gosh we don’t even need to press charges!" I said.
And then suddenly, Caelum smiled. My gaze snagged on his face when I saw his daring smile and I knew, I instantly knew he was up to something.
Zevran probably thought so too because he snapped; "What?"
But Caelum only snickered, without saying a word.
That piqued my interest. I walked up to him, my brows shooting into my hairline as I asked; "Have you come up with anything worthwhile?"
"Oh no, it isn’t worthwhile!" He spat, "it is beautiful!"
"So tell us about it. Don’t make us wait."
The wench had the audacity to smile as he plopped into a chair, and slowly... painstakingly drank from his water bottle. His eyes gleamed with malicious delight when he looked up at us again. He snorted;
"I’ve thought about the perfect punishment for someone as wretched as Leilani..."
"Which is?" We snapped in unison and he chuckled, clearly having fun.
"Let’s get married to Chalice."
At that, Zevran rolled his eyes at Caleum. He snickered; "I don’t know if you’ve noticed but Leilani doesn’t seem to be into us anymore. She’s been trying to reject our asses for ages, so that may probably have no effect on her."
"It will..." Caelum drawled, ignoring Zevran’s worries. He continued; "Marrying Chalice means strengthening our bond with her and weakening the one with Leilani. But because we’re still mates, whenever we get intimate with Chalice, she’ll feel it... and it’ll be agonizing."
That sounded cruel. But for some reason, I found myself smiling... agreeing to it.
I nodded. "That sounds..."
"Evil." Zevran butted in.
"I wanted to say terrible, but evil is just fine. But I agree." I drawled, patting Caelum’s back. "You guys, make sure to invite her to the wedding as well. I want her to feel everything."
"Oh yes, I will." Caelum answered, "I’ll invite her... and I’ll make sure she fucking attends it whether she likes it or not."
