Chapter 86: Something I don’t know.

"You’re scary, you know that right?" Theo commented, taking her straw, opening it and using it to chuck a hole in the transparent cup for her.

"Not enough, apparently." She deadpanned, taking a sip of her beverage, a moan escaping her lips subconsciously. "This is good!" She squealed with wide eyes, taking another sip.

"Yeah, it is." He said, chucking in his straw and taking a sip. "It’s good and comforting." He commented quietly.

"Yeah. And so creamy. You should bring this to the pack." She suggested, stirring her beverage.

Theo chuckled at her suggestion, shaking his head. "The number of people that would be able to afford it is way less than the number of people that wouldn’t. But in the coming years, I’m sure they will. Then we’d bring it down there. Happy?" He asked, earning a hearty bod from her.

They sat for a while in comfortable silence, Bethany completely mesmerized by her beverage, until it finished.

"That was amazing, Theo. And very satisfying." She commented, looking down at the plastic cup.

"Mmhm." He said, pushing his empty one away from him. "Do you want to move now or wait a little?" He asked.

"I think I’d wait." She said leaning back into the booth. "That drink was heavy." She said, causing him to chuckle.

"The weight comes with the extra cream." He explained.

"That’s sad. Thought it just came with sweetness."

"No, baby." He said, silence falling in between them.

"Tell me something I don’t know about you." He said, folding his arms across his chest, his eyes on her.

"Why? You already know everything." She said, giving him a confused look.

"Well, I know everything basic, but that doesn’t mean I know you. The real Bethany." He clarified.

"As far as I know, you know all there is to know." She said shrugging, but with the look on his face, he still wasn’t satisfied.

"Okay. What do you know about me? Tell me everything." She said, giving him a head start.

"Mmm, I know your full name is Bethany Gravis Sage- and I love it by the way. Had this mysterious, aura-filled edge to it. I also know you’ll be 19 next year. I know you went to Black River High. I don’t know why you didn’t go to college though." He said, giving her a questioning look, but she just gave him a sign to continue, so he did.

"I know you love to train, even though your Mum remains opposed to it every single day. I don’t know if you have any friends though, haven’t seen you with anyone. That’s all, I guess." He said, holding back the rest of the knowledge he had, not wanting to scare her off again, the way they’d done that night.

"That’s all?" She asked, arching her eyebrows.

"Yeah. Am I supposed to know more?" He asked, looking at her carefully.

"I wouldn’t know. You’re the ’spy’." She said, quoting in the air, causing him to chuckle.

"You got me there." He said, leaning back. "So I’ve told you all I know. Will you tell me the ones I do not know?"

"I will so long as you’d tell me about you as well. I know next to nothing about you or your brothers." She proposed.

"Deal." He said, nodding.

"Okay, let’s get started."

________

"First off, you have to know that there isn’t much you don’t know about me, and they are not significant either." She pointed, earning a disapproving look from him.

"I’d be the judge of that, not you." He said.

"Fine." She said sighing. She didn’t even know why she was sighing. She didn’t have a lot to say and the things she had to say weren’t so important.

"I didn’t go to college because it was going to cause my parents to go broke, plus I didn’t have much of a dream, honestly. I did want to be a lawyer or profiler my entire childhood, but when I realized that cash flow wasn’t as stable as I thought it was, I knew I had to take a step back. So I told my parents that I wasn’t interested. They tried to fight it and promise that they had everything under control but, you know, actions speak louder than words." She explained.

"Eventually, they came to terms with it, and didn’t bother me anymore. They just made sure I learned how to sew and cook and take care of children, typical Omega stuff. So I started learning when I started high school-"

"Wait." Theo cut her words off, his finger in the air. "You made this decision in junior high?" He asked confusion in his voice.

"Yep." She said, popping the ’P’.

"And they accepted?" He asked again. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com

"Why not?" She asked, getting confused.

"Why would they? you were just fourteen." He complained.

"A fourteen-year-old who knew what she wanted. And they didn’t drop the topic completely till my third year in high school." She explained.

He released an audible sigh of relief, shutting his eyes briefly. "You know you could’ve added that part in your narration." He said frowning.

"I’m sorry." She apologized, laughter threatening to break through her lips.

"It’s not funny." He said rolling his eyes. "Continue."

"Yes, Sir." She said clearing her throat. "So that’s why I didn’t go to college. And as for friends, I do have a friend. His name is Kevin." She said, observing him closely for any anger or jealousy markers.

"Male?" He asked.

"Yep. We met in my second year in high school, three months after I’d started training._"

"You’d tell me why you train as well." He said, cutting her off.

"Yes, Sir. I’d also appreciate it if you do not interrupt me again." She pointed.

"Sorry Ma’am." He said, zipping his lips.

"Thank you. So we met in my second year, three months after I’d started training. He was being bullied by one ass and I saved him, so we became friends, or he forced it."

"Forced it?" Theo asked.

"More like clung to me since then. We were both seen as nerds so we had no other choice than to bond, so we did."
