Fated to the Alpha–And His Triplet Brothers-Chapter 293: Prison
*~Leon’s POV~*
My eyes fluttered open, and I felt weird, like my bones and everything was eroding in shambles. I tried to get up, but I fell back again, and then my eyes met with total darkness, until a small ray of light came out from the window, and I then realized that we were not in a safe place.
My wolf instincts immediately kicked in, and I almost walked out. That’s when I saw Caspian and Alice also in cages right below me. I looked around to also realize that I was in a cage above. My prison was very high, while theirs was very low.
"Caspian! Alice!" I screamed, and then the two of them slowly woke up, consciousness slowly coming back into them. They were also shocked to find ourselves in the location we were right now.
Caspian turned to Alice. "Oh my God, what are we doing here? I think it’s that lady from the other time. Ah, what is she?"
I bit my lips, realizing as I remembered what the people were saying. Hail the white wolf, hail the white wolf.
Is that the white wolf? But I thought the white wolf was a little girl... except it was the older woman I saw next to her the other day, Gabrielle’s mom.
But then I started banging on the prison, trying to break it, but then Alice turned to me.
"It’s pointless. We lost our powers, and wherever these cages were made with power... I think that woman is so powerful. I’ve never seen— I’ve never met somebody so powerful like that. Who is she, damn it?" she said.
Caspian turned. "Anyhow, we need to get out of here immediately. The other team needs to know we are in trouble. Either they come to save us or go to save Aurora direct."
"I say they go save Aurora," Alice said.
And I turned to her. "But how can we reach them?"
She tried doing some spells again, but she suddenly stopped.
"They took my powers away from me. They took our powers away from us."
"But how can they?" Caspian said. "You’re a witch. You can manage to break this jail, please do so. We can’t just stay here."
But Alice shook her head. "It’s impossible. We just have to wait until whoever put us in this prison comes out."
"And what?" I said.
And she turned to me. "I also don’t know. We are all in the same situation. I can’t just magically know my way out of this."
I sat back down, pinched the bridge of my nose. Then I started punching the iron cages. I punched until my hands hurt, and Caspian turned to me.
"Stop it. You don’t want to break your hands. Look, you are already bleeding."
He said, and then I took a piece of my cloth and wrapped it around my hands.
Then the door opened, and we all sat up to see who entered.
A little girl stood inside, wearing a blindfold. She stood in the middle, and then several people also stood up. We heard movements. That’s when we realized that it wasn’t only three of us here— there were actually many— but the rest just ignored us.
"Please release us," one person from the prison said. "Please, you are the rightful— the true commander-in-chief. Please save us."
She did not say a word, but her head just turned to me.
"Where is Aurora?" she said.
And I shook my head. "What’s your business with her? Get us out of here before I tear your head off," I growled.
She said again, "Where is Aurora? I need to see her."
"I said—"
"I said where is she?"
But I shook my head. "I said get us out of here, you....you bastard!"
Caspian stretched his hands. "She’s a girl, mind your words." And then Caspian turned to her. "Hey— Aurora is in trouble and we need to save her. Please get us out of here," he said.
And she shook her head.
"Aurora must not be in trouble. There is a journey that me and her must embark on."
And then she turned to me.
"Is Aurora pregnant?" My mouth hung open. Pregnant? What kind of ridiculous, impossible question was that?
"What, what do you mean, pregnant?" I snapped, eyebrows folding so tight it hurt. "Gabrielle— or whoever you are— what kind of question is that?"
She didn’t move. Didn’t blink. Didn’t flinch.
Her head just tilted slightly, blindfold hiding her eyes like she didn’t even need them.
"Where is Aurora?" she repeated quietly, voice soft— too soft— like a whisper scraping the walls of the prison.
Caspian groaned. "Oh for goddess’ sake— answer her question first! Why are you asking if she’s pregnant? What does that even have to do with anything?!"
Alice slammed her palms against her cage. "We don’t know where she is! We got separated! And we CAN’T get to her if you don’t let us out!"
But Gabrielle remained still.
Calm.
Cold.
A storm in the shape of a child.
I tried again, louder. "Hey! I’m talking to you. Why would Aurora even be— pregnant?! With who?! What do you think happened?!"
Silence.
She only took one step closer, and every cage in the room creaked under the pressure of her presence. The wolves in the other cells whimpered and lowered their heads, begging for mercy she didn’t even acknowledge.
"I need to see her," she murmured. "Bring me to Aurora."
Caspian slammed his cage so hard sparks flew. "We CAN’T bring you anywhere, genius! We’re locked up! Do you not see that?!"
Alice added, "And even if we could, why should we take you to her? Your people knocked us unconscious, kidnapped us, stripped our powers— and NOW you’re asking for favors?! Are you deranged?!"
"Enough," I snapped at both of them— even though I was just as pissed.
I turned back to the girl. "Listen— we don’t know what you want, and we don’t know who the hell you are besides being... terrifyingly powerful. But if you want Aurora found, then LET. US. OUT."
Gabrielle didn’t move.
Caspian ran a hand through his hair in frustration. "This is insane. Leon, talk to her again. She clearly listens to you more than the rest of us."
"She doesn’t listen to anyone," Alice muttered.
I took a breath. "Gabrielle... if you want Aurora alive, we’re your best shot at finding her. She trusts us. She needs us. And we need to get to her FAST. So— you either let us out, or you doom the only person you seem to care about."
The girl finally lifted her chin slightly— just enough for me to feel the air shift.
And then she whispered, "If she is pregnant... the child cannot be born outside of prophecy. I must find her."
"What prophecy?!" Alice barked.
But Gabrielle ignored her, ignored all of us, stepping back toward the center of the room.
Caspian cursed under his breath. "Leon— she’s not going to listen. Damn it, what do we do?"
I gripped the bars. "Gabrielle! Aurora is DYING if we don’t reach her. I swear it. Let us out!"
She paused. The whole room held its breath.
Gabrielle finally spoke again, her voice barely above a breath.
"I will return," she said. "If Aurora is truly in danger... I will release you."
My heart slammed. "She is in danger! Gabrielle, we don’t have time for—"
But she had already turned away, drifting toward the door like a ghost.
The guards parted without a sound.
And then— she was gone.
Caspian collapsed against the bars. "She’s insane. Leon, you attract insane women."
Alice hissed, "Shut up. Aurora better be alive when we get there or I’m burning down this whole continent."
Minutes dragged.
Hours?
I couldn’t even tell.
Then— footsteps.
The door creaked open again, and Gabrielle walked back in with the same blank, unnerving calm. She lifted her head slightly, blindfold still covering her eyes.
"She is in danger," Gabrielle said turning to us . "I can feel it. I will release you."
She raised her hand and every lock on our three cages snapped open at once. Metal groaned and the doors swung outward.
I stumbled out immediately, stretching my cramped limbs.
But then—
"HEY! What about us?!"
One wolf from another cage yelled, slamming against the bars angrily.
"White Wolf! Release your loyal soldiers!" another cried.
"Please! You freed them...why not us?!"
Gabrielle didn’t even glance their way.
"Only the ones bound to Aurora may leave," she said softly. "The others... stay."
The entire prison erupted in shouting.
"That’s unfair!"
"We serve you!"
"We hailed you!"
"You owe us release!"
Caspian snorted. "Look at that your fan club is angry."
Alice grabbed my wrist. "Ignore them. We need to MOVE."
I nodded, turning to Gabrielle. "Take us to her. Now."
Gabrielle simply tilted her head and the cages behind us slammed shut again as she whispered:
"Follow me."
