Fated love: the unwanted bride-Chapter 2154: Died in a Car Accident
"I don’t want it, is this answer satisfactory?" Jasmine Yale said lightly.
"Don’t want it? Is it that you don’t want it or think it’s too little? I can give you as many shares and as much salary as you want." Sylvan Cheney stared at her intently.
Jasmine didn’t like his tone at all and replied coldly, "Is it that in your eyes, as long as you give me money, I’m willing to do anything? I don’t like your attitude, and stop looking at me that way. I know you look down on me, but don’t insult me with money."
"Is there something wrong with your comprehension?" Sylvan couldn’t help but yell.
"I don’t have a comprehension problem, CEO. Maybe you should reflect on whether there’s something wrong with your communication skills!"
"Fine, I won’t argue with you. Do what you want. If you don’t want to do it, I’ll just find someone else!"
"Then go ahead and find someone else." Jasmine’s gaze fell outside, and she didn’t argue further.
But she knew the plan was too sensitive, too confidential. Can he find someone he trusts one hundred percent? 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
This Plan B, to put it bluntly, was a project that Sylvan Cheney had secretly prepared, completely independent of the James Group.
Whether this plan would profit or lose, Sylvan Cheney would bear the entire outcome alone.
Sylvan fell silent, turned his head, leaned back on the seat, and stared at the empty space ahead, his eyes swirling with myriad emotions that took ages to settle.
The emotions gathered little by little, like bubbles in a boiling kettle, getting denser until the water boiled.
His emotions followed suit, rising like turbulent clouds.
Sylvan’s brows furrowed, a persistent crease formed between them.
His gaze was fixed ahead; despite the bright sun, he felt hardly any warmth.
Silence, endless silence.
Neither of them spoke.
The temperature in the air cooled little by little.
Who knows how long it had been? It seemed like forever...
Sylvan withdrew his gaze, started the car, and his slender fingers tightened around the steering wheel. His voice was gentle yet firm: "Let’s go."
He made a turn, and the car left the empty ground, retracing the road they had come by.
It’s okay not to do it.
If this project lost money, he’d not only owe her shares but wouldn’t even be able to afford her basic salary.
The empty ground was soon left behind, as if they had never been there at all.
It was Jasmine’s first time in that place, but Sylvan had lost count of how many times he had been there.
The car moved steadily down the road, not too fast.
Jasmine’s gaze was outside the window, and suddenly she had nothing to say, her heart skipping a beat.
Neither spoke on the way, and Sylvan didn’t say another word.
Until the car drove from the remote suburb into the city center.
The city center was different from the suburbs, with its congested roads stuck in traffic.
Sylvan gripped the steering wheel with one hand, resting the other on his head, his elbow against the window glass, quietly waiting for the car to move.
Jasmine finally broke the silence: "There’s a police car up ahead; could it be a traffic accident?"
"Hmm, looks like a collision."
"No matter when, it’s better to drive carefully; safety comes first. In the face of life, time, money, and anything else are not important," Jasmine said.
Sylvan remained silent.
He knew her husband had passed away in a car accident; she was probably reminded of him.
The line of cars didn’t move for a long time.
Suddenly, Sylvan’s stomach ached, a piercing pain, so sudden and unexpected.
He gritted his teeth, but a layer of cold sweat still seeped from his back.
