Chapter 61: Getting Tased?

"You piece of shit! Can’t you even do a single fucking job right?!"

Kai’s furious voice exploded like thunder as he viciously kicked Nergal’s face, again and again.

His boot crashed against flesh and bone, but Nergal didn’t move, didn’t fight back. He simply crouched down like a beaten dog, taking the assault without a word.

Kai’s face twisted with frustration and shame. The humiliation of being outsmarted and beaten by a little girl was driving him insane. He needed to release it, to unload all that fury on someone.

And Nergal was right there—silent, weak, and convenient... His punching bag!

But then, out of the corner of his eye, Nergal noticed something—three shadowy figures approaching from the distant hallway, their presence growing heavier with every step.

"M-Mas—"

"SHUT THE FUCK UP, YOU USELESS SHIT!!"

Kai roared, cutting him off mid-word. His foot came crashing down into Nergal’s mouth, knocking a tooth loose as blood splattered on the floor. His face was contorted, veins bulging on his forehead, eyes blazing with hate and shame. He couldn’t accept what had happened to him.

And now, in his wounded pride, he lashed out without control.

He spat, breath ragged. "To be defeated... by a fucking brat? A goddamn little girl?!" His voice trembled with fury.

"You think I’m just gonna sit back and take that?!"

A calm, cold voice suddenly interrupted from behind.

"That’s rich... coming from another useless piece of trash."

Kai froze. His whole body stiffened as he slowly turned his head toward the voice.

And there they stood—Leo at the front, his eyes burning with restrained fury; Pride beside him, her posture calm but focused; and Ophis, arms crossed and eyes narrowed with disdain.

Kai’s face twitched. A small bead of sweat rolled down his temple as his eyes locked onto Ophis—the very girl who had flattened him earlier with barely any effort.

"W-What’s this?"

Kai forced out a dry, mocking chuckle, trying to maintain his arrogance.

"Coming to gang up on me now? Three-on-one? Cute."

He grinned, but there was a tremor in his lips.

Then his expression shifted—darkened. His voice dropped lower, laced with venom and manipulation.

"Oh, please... do you honestly think she’s on your side? She’s just using you, you brainrotted idiot. Once you take me down, she’ll slit your throat without hesitation. She wants the relic, and you?

You’re just a disposable little pawn. A stepping stone."

Leo didn’t respond. He simply stared at Kai, unblinking, his jaw tight.

He wasn’t looking at a man—he was looking at the monster who had nearly taken away his girlfriend... who had risked his aunt’s life... who had endangered innocent children just for his twisted goals.

And Kai was still acting like he was the victim.

The silence was deadly.

Kai’s smirk faltered slightly, but he quickly snapped it back.

"W-What? You’re gonna act all high and mighty now? Gonna play the hero? Pfft," he scoffed, his voice dripping with smugness.

"Go on, then. Be the good guy. Take me down. You people always need a crowd just to feel strong, huh? Can’t handle a real fight without backup?"

His grin widened.

"You got any balls in that chest of yours? Or are you just another scared little bitch hiding behind his friends? Hm?"

Then, he spat on the ground and took a step forward.

"If you’ve got even a shred of pride, then drop the act. Let’s settle this properly—just you and me. No backup. No help. Let’s see who walks out of here standing."

He raised his voice with a mocking laugh.

"Or what? You chicken-shit cowards gonna jump me together? That’s how bottom-feeders like you always take down someone stronger, right? Ganging up on a real man because you know you can’t beat him one-on-one!"

Ophis’s jaw tightened. Her fists clenched. Her whole body trembled from sheer fury. This bastard... this cocky, arrogant piece of filth...

"Hah?! You really think—"

"Fine by me."

Leo’s voice cut through her words.

Ophis blinked. Her head snapped toward him in disbelief. "Wait... what?"

She looked at him like he’d just grown another head.

That bastard was clearly trying to manipulate them—why the hell was Leo taking the bait?

Ophis shook her head, clearly annoyed now. This was stupid. And what pissed her off the most... was that she was actually disappointed in Leo.

She didn’t know why.

She had come here to kill him, hadn’t she?

So why was there a disappointment in her chest watching him fall for such an obvious taunt?

Kai’s lips curved up into a wide grin, practically vibrating with glee.

’Holy shit, he actually fell for it! Aha! This dumbass is making it too easy!’

He laughed silently, licking his teeth in satisfaction.

Leo’s eyes flicked toward Pride without moving his head.

"If that thing," he said coldly, pointing at Nergal—who was now slowly rising to his feet, blood dripping from his chin—"so much as twitches, this time, cut his head off."

Pride’s fingers gripped her wooden sword tightly. She nodded, but her eyes were unsure.

"Leo... are you sure about this? Even if he’s weak... he’s still a mage."

Leo didn’t answer her. Instead, he unstrapped his backpack and handed it to Ophis.

"Hold this."

Ophis caught it reflexively. "Oh? Okay—wait, WHAT?! When the hell did I become your servant?!"

She shouted in outrage, face flushed with annoyance, even as her hands tightened around the bag. She glared at Leo, grinding her teeth as she watched him step forward without hesitation, his expression carved from stone.

’Tch... what’s he thinking? He’s gonna get his ass kicked, obviously. And then come crawling back for help... Hah. Maybe I should be nice and save his sorry face. Maybe...’

That’s what Ophis told herself...

Leo held a small knife in one hand. Nothing flashy, just a plain, well-used blade.

Across from him, Kai stood tall, radiating smug confidence.

"Oh? You’re gonna fight me with that little thing?" Kai laughed mockingly, raising his eyebrows.

"How fucking adorable. You gonna peel potatoes with that knife, or cut me? Come on, try it, hero. Let’s see what happens."

Kai’s chuckle deepened into a loud laugh as he stepped forward, fingers twitching in the air. Blue particles danced along his skin, dripping off like liquid sparks.

"Ohh, this is gonna be fun," he sneered. "Let’s see how long you last, knife boy."

Leo didn’t respond. He simply adjusted his stance—feet planted, knees loose, knife lowered by his side, the blade glinting softly in the light.

He knew he couldn’t use the power he felt before, but for a Kai-like person, He knew a way to deal with him.

Kai raised his hand sharply, and a sharp whip of water cracked through the air, slicing toward Leo with a hiss.

Leo ducked instantly, sliding to the side as the watery lash tore through the air just inches above his head. He didn’t wait—he rushed forward, aiming low with a quick jab of his knife.

Kai jumped back with a startled grunt, barely avoiding the strike. Another whip of water formed in his hand, this time aimed at Leo’s legs.

"You really think you can get close to me with that dull kitchen tool?!" Kai barked, launching the whip again.

Leo twisted, dodging mid-sprint. The water snapped the floor where he’d just been, leaving a clean gouge. But Leo didn’t stop—he kept coming. Another swing of the blade. This one grazed Kai’s forearm.

"Tch!" Kai hissed as blood trickled from the shallow cut.

His face shifted. No longer amused, he was irritated now.

"You little SHIT!"

Kai spun around and threw his arms forward.

^Wave Pulse^

A roaring blast of compressed water erupted from his palms like a cannon, hurtling straight toward Leo. The air twisted with pressure as the wave surged forward in a spiralling jet.

Leo’s eyes widened just a split second before impact—but there was no time to dodge.

The blast smashed directly into his chest with a bone-rattling force, sending him flying backwards like a ragdoll.

He hit the ground hard, his body skidding across the wet floor before stopping.

Water sprayed everywhere.

"LEO!!"

Pride’s voice pierced the air, filled with panic and anger. Her grip tightened around her wooden sword, knuckles whitening, her stance shifting forward, legs ready to spring into action.

But just as she was about to dash, Leo weakly raised a hand from the ground.

"I-I’m... cough... fine," he wheezed out.

Kai’s smug grin stretched wider as he watched Leo push himself up, coughing and dripping wet from head to toe. His soaked clothes clung to his skin, his hair matted over his face, and blood still trailed from his shoulder.

The knife hung loosely in his hand, but Kai could see it—Leo’s movements were slower, his limbs stiff from the impact.

"Come on,"

Kai said mockingly, swirling his fingers in the air as water slithered down his arms.

"All that effort just to get hit and lie down? Pathetic. You’re done."

Leo didn’t answer. He just reached into a small, side pouch clipped beneath his soaked jacket and pulled something out—a pair of thin, black gloves.

Kai paused, one brow raised,

"What, getting fancy now?"

Leo calmly slipped the gloves on. The material clung snugly to his fingers, and if one looked closely, they’d see faint ridges in the design—tactical-grade, moisture-resistant lining.

"You talk a lot,"

Leo muttered, flicking water from his eyes.

He pulled something else from beneath his belt. Small, rectangular. Compact.

A steel-grey device with twin prongs that clicked into place with a metallic snap.

A taser.

Kai’s smirk froze.

His eyes flicked downward to the water soaked into his own clothes, dripping from his fingers, pooling around his feet.

Leo took one slow step forward.

"You said it yourself," he said quietly.

Another step.

"You’re done."

Kai took an instinctive step back. "Wait, you wouldn’t—"

But Leo lunged. freёnovelkiss.com

BOOMMB!

The taser cracked loudly as it slammed into Kai’s chest. A sudden burst of electricity surged through the device, amplified by the water coating Kai’s body.

"AAARRGHHHHHH!!"

Kai’s scream tore through the hallway as his body convulsed violently. Sparks exploded from the contact point. His muscles locked, eyes wide with terror as his limbs flailed uselessly.

Leo’s arm jolted slightly—he could feel the tingling pulse through his own soaked sleeve, even with the gloves on. The sting bit into his nerves, sharp and hot. His jaw clenched, but he didn’t let go.

He kept the trigger held down.

Kai dropped to his knees, twitching uncontrollably, frothing slightly at the mouth as the current overwhelmed him.

Behind them, Nergal had already moved, silent and swift. There was no way he would stand by and let anything happen to his Master.

His eyes locked onto Leo.

With a sharp breath, he swung his weapon—a heavy flail with spiked iron heads, the chain spinning like a deadly blur as it cut through the air, aiming straight for Leo’s back.

But before the weapon could connect—

Clang!

A sharp sound echoed as a wooden blade sliced through the chain mid-swing.

Pride stood between them, eyes sharp and jaw set.

"You shouldn’t have done that."

She said coldly, her voice devoid of emotion as her sword hovered in front of her. The broken end of Nergal’s weapon dropped to the floor with a dull thud.

Nergal took a step back, breathing hard, his gaze flicking from Pride to his still-twitching Master. Smoke was rising faintly from Kai’s body, steam hissing from his clothes.

Nergal’s lips parted as a groan escaped. "Master..."

He took another step—face twisted in anger, confusion, and helplessness—when his foot suddenly pressed down on something embedded in the floor.

A small metal plate clicked under his boot.

Nergal’s eyes widened. He froze.

’Shit!’

Too late.

A mechanical whirring sound rang out, followed by a sharp snap.

From the walls and ceiling above, dozens—no, hundreds—of small trap doors slid open.

Pride’s eyes widened in alarm.

Then—

Fwip-fwip-fwip-fwip-fwip!!

Arrows. Hundreds of them, fired at them.

The first arrows whistled through the air toward Pride, sharp and fast. But her body moved with flawless precision. She spun her wooden sword in an arc, deflecting one arrow, then another, then three more in a blur of motion.

Clack! Whip! Thud!

She twisted her body to avoid a volley from the side and struck down another that flew for her throat.

But Nergal wasn’t so lucky.

"Ghh—!" he hissed as the first arrow slammed into his shoulder, piercing deep. Another hit his thigh. Then one grazed his ribs, slicing open a clean red line.

He staggered back, gritting his teeth. His broken flail clattered uselessly beside him as his hand reached to pull the arrow from his shoulder.

More arrows rained down—but suddenly, silence.

The mechanical whirring faded. The storm of steel came to a stop. A final arrow clattered harmlessly to the ground and rolled to a slow halt.

Breathing heavily, Pride lowered her sword slightly. Her chest rose and fell, her eyes darting to the side, checking for remaining arrows, then settling on Nergal.

She frowned.

The floor where he had stood... was empty.

Just a wide, gaping hole now.

Pride sighed, shaking her head, ’Whatever...’ she thought as she looked at Leo, who finished tasing Kai.
