Chapter 402 - Crack Unit

Shua!

After a flash of light, Shadow appeared somewhere in the game and was surrounded by various floras, a huge contrast compared to when he was still at Dragon Valley.

And at the back is actually a large mouth of the ciff like wall behind him, the exit he found last night to leave the valley, very similar to the entrance he had entered from the other side.

Of course, his journey here wasn't easy, it was fraught with dangers that had almost cost him his life and his hard earned levels, much worse, cost him the time and effort to arrive where he is right now.

"If only the world is as beautiful as this one" Shadow said as he couldn't help but marvel at the beauty of his surroundings.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the continent.

A group of people wearing black all over and with a mask on their faces are currently strolling through the streets of a large army camp, and the players and NPCs around are all looking at them with either eyes filled with curiosity or hostility, especially the latter group of people who didn't bother hiding the hostile intent in their eyes.

"Revenants, those dastardly rats" one of the players said with irritation as he spit on the ground.

One of the men with a bow strapped on his back added, "Yeah, they cost us Pan Kingdom. Bloody nosy bastards"

These people are currently Solitary Tempest and the others who had arrived at this place during the past few days, thanks to the airship that the Sunrise Empire had provided that was used for transporting troops and food.

And during the last couple of weeks of the Civil War in Pan Kingdom, following the summit for a truce agreement that turned into full blown war.

Blackskull and its allies slowly lose ground during the war, and the reason for this is the changes in history that Michael had caused, the appearance of a group of professional hitmen playing the game while creating a guild called Revenants has caused a few changes in the gaming world.

As their mere presence had caused tremendous losses on the side of Blackskull and its allies because of their constant hit and run tactics and multiple assassition attempts that ended up either successful or a failure.

And because of it, they were slowly but eventually kicked out of the capital because of the deaths of the figureheads leading the army that continued to pile up which led to a protest until they eventually disappeared, and were replaced by another.

But replacing them didn't help as they continued to suffer multiple assassination attemps, and some of these attemtps almost the costed the King's life which would have certainly dealt them a huge blow to their cause, because they knew that it would have caused the eventual withdrawal of support from the nobles supporting the King.

Thankfully, the king still survived the attempt for his life.

But most importantly, the one that really broke the camel's back was the once again sudden interference of the Blood Guards from the neighboring Dukedom of Cympyr.

The history didn't change much though, but the change of authority on the Pan Kingdom was hastened because of the presence of Solitary Tempest and the others.

That's the reason why members of the Council of Elders hate them to the bones!

This hatred is so deep that either one of them must disappear if they happen to meet each other around the Monster Zones.

But they didn't dare pick up a fight with them right now because they are currently in the presence of Imperial Soldiers.

"It's that mysterious group of assassins, Revenants. I tried to apply to their guild before but I was rejected" a player in assassin garbs said with a little frustration in his voice while eating his food in front of his friends.

One of them rolled her eyes and said, "Of course, you will get rejected. I heard they're requirements are very high. In fact, I think they are even better than those rankers at the top"

"Hey! Lower your voice, what if the people from those guilds hear what you just said? It could get us into trouble. You should know how vindictive those people are" A Wizard hurriedly said to the woman, afraid that she'll say more that could get them into trouble if someone catches wind of what she said, especially when they are in a very crowded place like this army camp of the Sunrise Empire where there are players of different background strolling about near them.

"So what?! It's not like we haven't fought with any of them before! Besides, only those bastards from the Council love to bully players from small guilds" the woman scoffed in disdain, but she still softened her tone in the end.

On the other hand, Solitary Tempest and the others entered a large tent and were met with a large square table inside with different miniatures on it.

"Speak of the devils! It's good to have you guys here!" A middle aged man surrounded by a couple of soldiers around his age immediately welcomed them upon noticing their arrival with a bright expression on his face.

"General, thank you for having us. How can we help you?" Solitary Tempest shook his hands along with a nod towards the other military officers inside the tent, while Viper and the rest just stood there and looked around the place.

"You and your group's reputation precedes you. So I wanted to hire your help to create a crack unit to tackle the problem of this undead tide" the General said with a serious look on his face as he gestured for them to look at the map on the table.

"A crack team? What for?" Chakram suddenly butted in when he heard the words 'crack team', but Viper who was standing beside him lightly elbowed him when he heard how the former had addressed the man.

"Please don't mind our companion general, he's just a little crass with his mouth. But...are you creating a crack team to directly take down the Lich King? And if that is the plan you've thought of, how are you going to deal with its army?" Black Sparrow quickly stepped to defuse the situation when he saw the ugly looks on the face of the officers in the tent.

The general just smiled and said, "That's the reason why I called for you guys today. I wanted your input on how we should properly plan this mission out. After all, your group will be the core for this mission"

"How about this then General…"

"Woman, that is such a bad idea. It could get us wiped out!"

"Well, do you have a better idea then?! Because I sure hell know that I'm better at you at these kind of things"

"Why don't we get Viper's thoughts on this instead? After all, the man did go to war before, so he must have at least a little knowledge on military tactics"

"What~!? That's different! This is an undead army that we're talking about!"

Following that, Solitary Tempest and the others started voicing out their own opinions to increase the success rate of completing this mission impossible, and just thinking about how it would unfold already made them reeling in excitement!

Looking at the rowdy group of people before his eyes, the General could only just smile.
