Farming with Entries: From Lord to Emperor-Chapter 549 - 279: The Earl of the Tulip’s Thoughts
...
...
"Sir, it’s all true."
The chief knight of the Tulip Clan, Harris, reported earnestly: "Forgive my bluntness, but anyone with two young dragons doesn’t need to impersonate Lord Luo De."
"Your words are illogical."
"It’s impossible!"
The Earl of the Tulip firmly denied the knight’s words.
"Harris, you must understand, a year ago he went to the desert with only the 150 gold coins I bestowed upon him."
"Tell me, how could he achieve all this?"
"This..."
Chief knight Harris fell into silence, pondering as he rubbed his chin,
"Perhaps he obtained some ancient legendary inheritance, mastering powerful strength?"
"Harris!"
The Earl of the Tulip glared at his chief knight, "I told you, don’t let the plots of wizard fantasy novels influence your judgment in reality!"
"Otherwise, I’ll forbid you from reading those fantasy novels!"
"Alright, sir."
Harris shrugged helplessly, "But just because I can’t imagine a reason, it doesn’t mean it won’t happen."
Harris pointed at the letter and said: "The description inside is very detailed and even narrates the process of how Miss Avril and Lord Luo De met, got to know each other, and fell in love, which is why they help the Red Griffin Clan."
"I find it very reasonable."
The Earl of the Tulip stopped in his tracks and turned to stare at Harris.
"It’s still impossible... I know my son, it’s absolutely impossible!"
The earl murmured, his voice still carrying shock and disbelief,
"A year ago, he was just an apprentice knight; how could he have killed Susanna, who possessed a demon inheritance?"
"These stories sound more absurd than what the bards sing about!"
The Earl of the Tulip spoke firmly, but he could see that his chief knight clearly wanted to argue back with him.
"Such debates are meaningless, Harris."
The Earl of the Tulip asked: "Did they send back a portrait?"
"What a coincidence, sir."
Harris’s smile was tinged with amusement, "I figured you wouldn’t believe it, so I’ve already had someone create a portrait."
"It should arrive very soon."
Knock, knock, knock.
A soft knocking interrupted Harris’s words.
"Lord Earl, there’s new information from Griffin Castle," reported the guard.
"Quite the coincidence."
The playful smile on Harris’s face vanished, replaced by a stern coldness as he turned to open the door.
The guard respectfully saluted and presented a delicate leather tube with both hands.
"Lord Harris, this is what was delivered earlier."
"Alright, you may leave now."
Harris took the tube, expressionless, and closed the door.
His expression then relaxed again,
"Sir, the moment of witnessing miracles has arrived."
Harris smiled as he laid the tube on the table, "I’m willing to bet half of my year’s salary that this is indeed Young Master Luo De."
The Earl of the Tulip glanced at his chief knight, then turned his gaze towards the tube.
After a moment of silence, he waved his hand, "You open it."
"As you command, my Lord Earl."
Harris picked up the tube, opened the lid, and drew out the scroll, slowly unrolling it.
The portrait depicted a young blond man with a handsome face and a faint smile, dressed in formal attire, with a decorative short sword at his waist.
The man held a silver cup, as if talking to someone.
"Heh heh."
Harris chuckled as he turned the portrait to face the Earl of the Tulip,
"Sir, I win."
The Earl of the Tulip looked at the portrait without speaking, only slightly furrowing his brows.
Harris was a bit curious, "Your son possesses such strength, why don’t you seem pleased?"
"I really didn’t expect it; I thought I saw through him."
The Earl of the Tulip slowly spoke,
"When he was here, he was always diligently working, never did anything extraordinary, the only thing different was his love for reading."
"Even when he volunteered to take on the bloody edict, I thought he was just as common as anyone, tempted by gold."
"Now it seems, I somewhat underestimated him."
"So are you happy now, or?" Harris couldn’t help but ask.
"No one dislikes their child becoming powerful, even if he’s an illegitimate son."
The Earl of the Tulip glared at Harris, "It’s just that all of this is too unexpected."
"The undead legion from fantasy novels has even appeared on the western battlefield, what’s left to be strange about?"
Harris shrugged carelessly, bent down, and asked with a curious smile:
"Seeing Earl of the Red Griffin’s attitude seems like he values Lord Luo De greatly, even more so than Young Master Vincent, should you consider..."
"Harris, your joke has gone too far!"
The Earl of the Tulip slammed the table with his hand!
"I’m sorry, sir, I was wrong!"
Harris put away his smile immediately, stood upright, and sincerely bowed his head in apology, "Please punish me!"
The Earl of the Tulip frowned deeply, glaring angrily at Harris.
His chief knight’s swordsmanship, horsemanship, wisdom, command capabilities, and more were all outstanding among knights.
Yet, Harris’s thought process was erratic, and he enjoyed making some offensive jokes, especially with me, his lord.
"I’ll dock your salary for a month."
The Earl of the Tulip said irritably, "I don’t want to hear such remarks again."
"Yes, sir."
Harris responded seriously.
The Earl of the Tulip did not dwell on the issue, and looked at the portrait on the table, leaning back in his chair, furrowing his brow in thought.
"Have our people exaggerate this news tenfold and spread it, the more outrageous the better."
After a long silence, the Earl of the Tulip suddenly ordered: "Make it exaggerated to the point where even fantasy novels wouldn’t write it this way, so that everyone who hears it feels it’s nonsense."
