Farming with Entries: From Lord to Emperor-Chapter 457 - 248: Ember Breathing Technique (Part 2)
The aged ruler of the Red Griffin Clan, the old Count, lay on the bed with his eyes closed.
His white hair was in disarray across his haggard and aged face, his chest rising and falling slightly, and a faint sound echoing from his nose, evidently immersed in a dream.
Caitina glanced over, tiptoeing towards the desk, where a few pieces of parchment and a brass bookmark were scattered.
Caitina ignored the items on top and turned her gaze to the wooden cabinet below the desk.
She bent down, moved the cabinet aside, and lifted the rug on the floor.
Beneath it were rows of stone bricks. Caitina glanced over them and directly targeted the third stone brick, prying at the edge with her finger and forcefully pulling it out.
Beneath the brick was a small silver box.
"Found it!"
Caitina felt a surge of joy in her heart, held her breath, and took the small silver box, placing it in her bosom.
Caitina did not know what was inside the silver box, but this was what she was tasked with stealing.
With this, her children and mother could live a life free from want.
After securing the silver box, Caitina replaced the stone brick, spread the carpet, and returned the cabinet to its place.
Carefully rising, Caitina turned her head, but suddenly tensed up.
The old Count had already turned his head, quietly staring at her.
"How did you know it was there?"
The old Count’s voice was hoarse but not at all flustered, like cold water pouring down Caitina’s nape.
Caitina couldn’t help but shiver.
But Caitina was not afraid and pulled out a narrow-bladed dagger from her sleeve, pointing it at the old Count’s throat from afar.
"I don’t want to hurt you, I just want this silver box."
The old Count’s expression remained calm, speaking indifferently,
"Young girl, your hand is shaking."
"I’ve also killed before, and if you shout, I’ll fight desperately."
Caitina’s attitude was firm.
"Hahaha... Killing is normal, I also killed many when I was young."
The old Count sighed, "Now, am I not powerless, lying here?"
"I apologize, old people tend to ramble." 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
The old Count stared at Caitina,
"Do you know what is in the silver box?"
Caitina shook her head slightly.
"Then who are you working for?" the old Count continued to inquire.
Caitina remained silent, her eyes resolute.
"You girl, you really are."
The old Count shook his head, "The box contains the Ember Breathing Technique, which needs the Red Griffin bloodline to configure the magic potion."
"Without the bloodline, it is just waste paper."
"You ignored other items and precisely found the silver box below."
The old Count’s cloudy eyes flashed with a hint of insight,
"It appears that the person behind you is familiar with this place and perhaps has the Red Griffin bloodline, right?"
The old Count sighed deeply,
"Ah, my poor Avril... is she well?"
Caitina tensed up, remembering the orders from above, hesitated for a moment, and put away the dagger.
"Apologies, Lord Earl, I didn’t mean to offend you."
"Miss Avril... asked me to send her regards to you. She is doing very well."
The old Count’s eyes softened, as if recalling distant memories.
"Previously, I received news that she died in the desert, then later heard she was rescued... Baron Rod, do you work for him?"
His voice carried a hint of warmth, his gaze passing through Caitina, as if seeing his daughter far away.
Caitina hesitated for a moment but ultimately did not speak.
"You girl are something else."
The old Count shook his head in resignation,
"The Breathing Technique alone is useless, it needs to be paired with the magic potion."
The old Count pointed under his pillow, "Inside there is a recipe."
Caitina looked at the old Count and pulled out the pillow.
"Be careful, girl, you should be gentle with this old fellow."
"Apologies, Lord Earl."
Caitina felt a bit awkward, tore open the old Count’s pillow, and discovered a small parchment scroll inside.
Caitina hurriedly took it out and carefully stored it away.
Then Caitina gently replaced the old Count’s pillow, whispering, "Miss Avril is well, living freely in Frost Leaf Town."
"Does she still enjoy reading in the garden?" the old Count asked.
"Yes, Lord Earl."
Caitina nodded.
In reality, Caitina knew nothing, but to make the old Count happy, she lied.
"What kind of person is Baron Rod? Is he good to her?"
"Lord Earl, I haven’t interacted with our Lord, so I cannot say..."
Caitina seriously stated, "But in Frost Leaf Town, there’s no need to worry about people dying in the winter anymore."
The old Count slowly nodded,
"It seems that Baron Rod is not only capable but also kind."
The old Count pondered for a moment, "Can you deliver a letter for me?"
"Lord Earl, today there’s no time..."
Caitina felt a bit troubled.
"Then can you come often in the future to talk with me?"
The old Count proactively offered, "I will help you distract the guards."
Caitina nodded vigorously, "If you need me, I will do my best."
"I’m just curious... why aren’t your guards here?"
"It’s better if you don’t ask about that."
The old Count’s smile was somewhat mysterious, "I wish you all the best."
"Thank you for your blessings."
Caitina bowed, quietly exiting the room.
After she left, a shadowy figure emerged unnoticed,
"Didn’t expect that there wouldn’t be that wretched woman’s assassination today, but rather such an unexpected gain."
A cold female voice said, a middle-aged woman with a resemblance to Avril showing a playful expression,
"Once you die, I’ll look for my niece."
...
...
Leaving the fourth floor, Caitina exhaled a long breath.
Without any pause, Caitina grabbed a clay pot and quickly descended the stairs, swiftly walking to the spot where Luke parked by the side door.
