Farming with Entries: From Lord to Emperor-Chapter 452 - 246: Another Dragon?
The morning mist slowly dissipated in the forest of Gray Snake Canyon.
Tall pine trees stood like sentinels on the hillside.
The canopy blocked out the sky, with only sporadic sunlight filtering through the gaps.
Five soldiers from the third patrol team of Black Pine Ridge moved through the forest.
They wore leather armor, had longswords at their waists, and carried hunting bows on their backs.
Alertness was written on each of their faces.
Captain Martin led the way.
This veteran with seven years of military experience sharply scanned the area ahead.
Having crossed the hill, Martin suddenly stopped and raised his right hand, giving a signal to halt.
Without any words needed, the soldiers instinctively crouched and cautiously observed their surroundings.
"Look over there."
Martin lowered his voice, pointing to a large pine tree ahead.
The trunk bore obvious claw marks.
The bark was completely torn, each mark as thick as a finger.
"No ordinary beast could cause this."
Martin’s eyes swept the area, "Be careful, search the surroundings."
The soldiers carefully spread out to explore, then returned shaking their heads.
Only then did Martin approach the pine tree,
"The claws are at least fifteen centimeters long, the force is terrifying."
Martin nodded.
He touched the marks on the bark with his fingers, the wood chips still carrying the fresh scent of resin.
"The marks are very fresh."
Martin judged, "No more than a day old."
"And there’s a snapped tree here!"
A soldier pointed ahead, where a pine tree thicker than a boulder was cleanly bitten in half, with tooth marks clearly visible at the break point.
Martin looked at the bite marks and swallowed hard.
The tooth marks were serrated, each impression thicker than a thumb.
"Boss, come here quickly!"
A soldier shouted loudly, and Martin ran over swiftly.
Ahead, behind the woods at the bottom of the hill, a dark cave gaped like a beast’s maw, ready to swallow them whole.
"Boss, I remember there was no cave here before, right..."
"You’re not mistaken."
Martin jumped into the gully and cautiously moved forward.
The cave entrance was three meters high and less than four meters wide.
The overall shape was very irregular, like a wound torn by a giant beast.
Around the entrance were deep claw marks and impact signs, along with some dried blood.
"This soil is new, it must have appeared not long ago."
Martin waved his hand, "Give me a flaming arrow."
"Got it, boss!"
The soldier quickly pulled out a flaming arrow, lit it, and handed it to Martin.
Martin took the flaming arrow, raised his hunting bow, and shot it into the cave.
Weak firelight streaked through the darkness, and Martin vaguely saw a giant bear’s remains.
The soldiers involuntarily shivered.
With little else visible, Martin fired another flaming arrow into the cave.
Scattered on the ground were some strange scales, the surface shimmering with a metallic sheen.
"Let’s go."
Martin ordered decisively, "This is definitely a magical beast; we can’t handle it!"
...
...
On the desert about five kilometers from Frost Leaf Town.
Luo De stood on a mound, observing the magical beast reported by the southern second patrol team—a mutant wild buffalo, drinking water at the pond’s edge with lowered head.
The mutant wild buffalo was about the same size as a regular buffalo, but its fur was dense like wire, exhibiting an unnatural dark green color.
And the most notable feature was how its horns appeared very smooth with a metallic sheen.
"Lord, is this a magical beast?"
The second patrol team captain asked cautiously.
Luo De nodded slightly.
Although faint, Luo De could feel a weak magic fluctuation surrounding the mutant wild buffalo.
Just not very stable.
Accompanied by the buffalo’s low growl, fluctuating in pitch.
"Like the mutant rabbit, it’s considered a zero-tier magical beast."
Luo De said with a smile, "A good material, especially the buffalo hide."
The patrol team captain visibly sighed in relief.
Luo De looked at him, nodding in approval,
"You all did well, observed carefully, go to Lawrence after returning for your reward."
"Thank you for your generosity!"
The patrol team captain rejoiced, "Serving you is our honor!"
Luo De smiled, then asked, "Did you only find this one? I think the buffalo horn over there seems to be gleaming."
"At least four!"
The patrol team captain reported earnestly: "We saw different horn shapes, so we’re sure there are at least four."
"Hmm."
Luo De mused.
The number of mutants is quite high.
Upon thinking carefully, so many wild animals on the desert, even a one percent chance on an individual would make it quite common.
"Tyr."
Luo De turned to the breeding supervisor beside him and asked, "Can you domesticate them into livestock with the tamers under you?"
"Um..."
Tyr glanced back at the three subordinates who came with him,
"None of us have tried taming magical beasts... but I have confidence!"
Tyr puffed up his chest.
"Hmm, a supervisor must be able to take responsibility."
Luo De waved, "Let them try first."
If it doesn’t work, Luo De would personally handle it.
"Thank you for your trust!"
Tyr hurried to his three subordinates and whispered instructions.
Soon after, the three tamers saluted Luo De from a distance and began preparing their tools. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
"Interesting, all three tamers are women."
Luo De smiled at Tyr who returned.
Tyr paused and explained, "Maybe because we have more women at the breeding center..."
Luo De nodded lightly, not thinking much, and started observing the tamers.
The first female tamer stood out, with short brown hair, wearing tightly fitting leather armor, clutching a bundle of forage as she approached the buffalo first.
