Farming Games are All About Grinding-Chapter 145 - 139: Snow Lotus Fruit?
Chapter 145: Chapter 139: Snow Lotus Fruit?
Five minutes later, Han Qiwu successfully dealt with the snowman inspired by Yang Guo.
Damn, this thing was such a chore to fight!
If I keep stabbing, this Longsword is going to get completely blunt.
Plus, during the battle, Han Qiwu got hit with a frostbite status effect.
[Frostbite: Due to prolonged combat in a low-temperature environment, lose 10 HP per hour for the next five hours]
If he doesn’t eat some supplies, just the Frostbite damage alone could drain Han Qiwu to death.
Way too difficult.
As the snowman turned into a beam of white light, Han Qiwu hurriedly bent down to pick up the loot.
[Snow Lotus Fruit] ×1
[Stamina +50]
[HP +20]
[Special Effect: Removes Frostbite status]
[Note: It has no actual connection to the legendary Tianshan Snow Lotus]
[Ice Essence] ×2
[Usage: Material/Decoration]
[Price: 200 Gold]
[Note: A common ice-element material]
"Snow Lotus Fruit? Isn’t this just a Jerusalem artichoke?" Han Qiwu took the Snow Lotus Fruit out from his inventory and studied it carefully.
The Snow Lotus Fruit is a perennial herbaceous plant from the Asteraceae family, with edible spindle-shaped tubers that somewhat resemble sweet potatoes.
Upon seeing its special effect of removing Frostbite, Han Qiwu was delighted, grabbed a small knife, peeled the skin, and took a big bite.
Delicious!
The Snow Lotus Fruit had a crisp texture, thin skin, and was juicy—what surprised Han Qiwu the most was that it had absolutely no residue, biting into it turned entirely into sweet juice.
It was practically a solid beverage.
Eaten in this snowy, icy environment, the taste had a unique charm.
"Thwack thwack thwack!!!"
On the rock wall, Xiao Lai couldn’t take it anymore.
It was utterly exasperated.
What kind of owner is this?
The fight isn’t even over yet!
How come you’re stealing snacks for yourself?
"Cough cough, this stuff isn’t for you anyway, might as well leave it to me," Han Qiwu said casually, munching away.
After eating to his heart’s content, Han Qiwu checked his status bar.
The Frostbite effect had already vanished.
Fast recovery—looks like even mid-battle, you can find time to remove status effects.
That’s right; Han Qiwu had just tested if the Snow Lotus Fruit could remove Frostbite during combat.
It was a critical experiment.
With his thoughts sorted, Han Qiwu pulled out the mysterious light crossbow and shot an arrow toward the Frost Slime.
Since the Frost Slime was stacked with several layers of Xiao Lai’s toxin, it could hardly move.
Xiao Lai really is reliable!
It worked as a makeshift stationary target.
Bullseye!
The mechanism clicked, and the Frost Slime’s right beady eye was gone.
"Argh!"
Badly wounded, the Frost Slime suddenly jerked its head.
"Hahaha."
Though Han Qiwu had no idea whether the head jerk signaled an ice breath attack or freezing maneuver, just flattening the green poisonous goo atop its head was an absurdly comical sight.
Let’s hope there’s no Slime mythology about hats.
After its head-shaking was done, the Frost Slime spat a series of diamond-shaped ice blocks at Han Qiwu.
"Rat-tat-tat."
Because of the close range, Han Qiwu had no choice but to position the Paralysis Brambles in front of him.
"Boom, boom, boom."
Every ice block that hit the Paralysis Brambles instantly transformed into solid layers of ice; even the scattering ice shards slapped Han Qiwu with a Frostbite status.
And as more layers of ice accumulated, Han Qiwu felt like he could hardly hold onto the Paralysis Brambles anymore.
"Trying to wreck my equipment again? Are all you Slimes destructo-maniacs!?" Han Qiwu fumed, grabbing the Soft Blade and stabbing straight toward the Frost Slime’s belly.
"Squelch."
Han Qiwu was astonished to see the Soft Blade actually pierce through.
As his forward momentum carried through, the Soft Blade successfully entered and then was pulled back out.
Green going in, blue coming out.
"What the heck?" Han Qiwu muttered, glancing down at the Soft Blade.
Could it be because "green surpasses blue"? So, green-colored blades can pierce blue-colored Slimes?
"Boop, boop, boop, boop!!!!"
Clinging onto the rock wall, Xiao Lai couldn’t stand it anymore and let out a loud cry.
What a clueless owner!
This was all my effort!
After a few shrieks, Xiao Lai evidently felt unsatisfied. It crouched on the wall, charging its energy for a few seconds, then leaped straight toward the Frost Slime.
This is what a battle pet is for!
[Charged Sprint]!
Xiao Lai transformed into a living projectile, flying directly toward the Frost Slime.
What surprised Han Qiwu the most was that midway through its flight, Xiao Lai didn’t forget to spit a glob of poison onto the Slime.
Damn, that’s efficient.
It was precisely because of that glob of poison that Han Qiwu finally saw what kind of toxin was present inside the Frost Slime.
[Xiao Lai’s Poison]: When hit, applies a stackable effect on the target to reduce speed and defense by 5%. Effect can stack up to four layers.
[Note: Xiao Lai’s Poison combines various components]
Pretty fierce, with both slow and defense reduction.
After glancing at the stats, Xiao Lai successfully landed on top of the Frost Slime.
"Boom!"
With an imposing force delivering 45 damage, Xiao Lai adorably bounced back onto the rock wall.
"Oh, so you attack and get bounced back, huh?" Han Qiwu chuckled and kept stabbing the Frost Slime with the Soft Blade.
With its defenses broken, stabbing became much easier.
Three minutes later, the Frost Slime turned into a beam of white light and vanished.
[Slime Goo] ×6
[Snow Lotus Fruit] ×2
Slime Goo was within Han Qiwu’s expectations—it was clearly a universal Slime drop material.
Snow Lotus Fruit, though, sparked a special idea in Han Qiwu’s mind.
Maybe monsters with status effects always drop items to counteract those effects.
Something worth testing next time.
Overall, the drops weren’t particularly impressive.
Oh well. Moving on—time to keep mining!
While no other creatures were around, Han Qiwu headed toward the tunnel where the snowman and Frost Slime had appeared.
When you don’t know where to go, heading into the enemy’s lair is a solid choice.
Sure enough, walking into the snowman’s tunnel, Han Qiwu immediately spotted several pale green gemstone nodes nearby.
Though he still didn’t know what gemstone it was, digging them up couldn’t hurt.
Five minutes later, Han Qiwu happily packed up the loot.
[Jade] ×1
[Usage: Decoration/Material]
[Price: 300 Gold]
[Note: A pale green decorative stone, highly favored by primates]
Ignoring the bizarre latter part of the description, jade was indeed valuable.
Gold per piece—that price was far higher than amethyst’s.
Jackpot!
Knowing the value of jade, Han Qiwu immediately ran to the other jade nodes to dig them up and store them away.
Keep grinding!
Two hours later.
[You have reached Floor 44]
[This floor’s mine is contaminated. You must kill all monsters to proceed to the next floor.]
[Contaminated monsters drop lucrative items. Good luck.]
Well, hit the jackpot again.
