Farm Tough Girl-Chapter 247 - 248 Playing the Rogue_1
Chapter 247: Chapter 248: Playing the Rogue_1
Chapter 247 -248: Playing the Rogue_1
Yu Ze’s complexion turned suddenly darkened, and the small boys were also quite perplexed, all shrank their necks, too afraid to speak. The incident where Yu Ze smashed the main gate had them terrified, and ever since then, they regarded this master with more than just a little awe!
After breakfast, Muniang prepared to head to town. But, just as she lifted the carriage’s curtain to get in, she saw someone sitting there, prim and proper. Muniang turned around and was ready to jump off the carriage, “Get me another carriage—”
Before her words had finished, her slender waist was already hooked by Yu Ze’s large hand, pulling her into his embrace. Yu Ze spoke in a deep voice, “We can go now!”
Muniang was furious, prying at his hand, but Yu Ze was immovable. She could only glare at him, “What are you doing? I have serious business in town. Don’t follow me!”
Yu Ze said with an impassive face, “I have serious business too, even more so than yours.”
Muniang, clenching her teeth, said, “Let go!”
“No!”
“I’m telling you to let go!”
“No!”
Muniang bit down hard on Yu Ze’s hand, even leaving teeth marks, but he didn’t even wrinkle his brow.
Muniang glared at him in defeat, “Are you done?!”
“I’ll be done when you’re no longer mad at me, otherwise, no,” Yu Ze asserted with a stubborn tone.
Muniang’s teeth grinded annoyingly. Was this man now playing the rogue with her? That’s just not right! Isn’t he supposed to be stoic?!
“Whether you bite me or hit me, as long as it makes you feel better, take it all out on me. After that, let’s get back to being good as before. Whether I’m a fool or sober, my heart hasn’t changed one bit. You say you don’t know how important you are to me; now I’m telling you, my heart is full of you. You say I don’t tell you about the past; I can share everything with you, anything you want is okay, just don’t push me away.”
As Yu Ze spoke, he tightened his arm around Muniang’s waist, as if fearing that loosening his grip would cause him to lose her.
With annoyance, Muniang scoffed, “Don’t talk to me with such sweet nothings now. I’m not a naïve young girl who’s easy to deceive!” Muniang’s actual age slipped into her mind in her irritation.
Yu Ze couldn’t help but give a wry smile. If she still didn’t consider herself a young girl, was he supposed to be entering the senior group?
Yu Ze wrapped his arms around Muniang’s waist, making her sit on his lap. She found the position truly uncomfortable and, failing to break free, resorted to saying in frustration, “You’re hurting me!”
Thinking he was holding her too tightly, Yu Ze immediately loosened his grip, and Muniang quickly, like a cunning little fox, scooted to the other side of the carriage to sit down, not forgetting to warn him, “If you touch me again, I’ll jump out of the carriage. Last time I didn’t end up disabled, but this time I might not be so lucky.”
Yu Ze let out a wry chuckle and quickly said, “Don’t, don’t, don’t; I definitely won’t touch you again!”
The carriage suddenly quieted down, but now Yu Ze was anxious inside and tentatively spoke, “Our Chatu Town has more than just Dongxing Building for taverns. We could switch to doing business with another one. The contract signed last year was for one year, right? It should be expiring this year. Certainly, other taverns would also want your fresh dishes, and if we don’t continue with Dongxing Building, surely there would be plenty of others willing to pay a higher price.”
Updated from freewёbnoνel.com.
Muniang replied, “Dongxing Building has already said they want to extend the contract. They will give me one-tenth of the tavern’s profits in the future. This is a very good deal already.”
Yu Ze’s expression darkened, Wu Haoli was indeed an old fox. By sharing ten percent of the profits, hadn’t he essentially become the Second Boss of Dongxing Building? Wouldn’t that mean even more contact going forward?!
Yu Ze, still not willing to give up, continued, “If we release this news, there’s bound to be other restaurants willing to offer better terms. Who knows, someone might even be willing to offer twenty percent profits.” Yu Ze knew about Muniang’s greedy nature, which was why he had been using such offers to tempt her.
However, Muniang directly replied, “Better not, Dongxing Building and I have old ties, and it wouldn’t be right to abandon an old partner for some silver and seek out new ones. Besides, Wu Haoli has helped me quite a bit. I can’t be ungrateful; the terms he’s offered are already the best. I don’t want to cause any more trouble.”
Yu Ze’s face darkened again; Muniang talking about old connections over silver was a first! He should have taken care of Wu Haoli, this calamity, much earlier. But with so many disputes recently, he had actually forgotten, and now, he thought about striking while the iron was hot.
Muniang, noticing Yu Ze’s strange expression, gave him a glance and then ignored him. She was still upset in her heart, why bother with him?!
Finally, they arrived at Dongxing Building, where—as always—a servant was already waiting outside. Upon seeing Muniang’s carriage, he eagerly approached, “Lady, you’ve arrived. We’ve been waiting for you since morning.”
Muniang got out of the carriage, nodded, and followed the servant inside. Yu Ze trailed behind, glancing up and sure enough, he saw Wu Haoli leaning at a second-floor window, watching them.
Yu Ze’s eyes grew colder as he looked at Haoli, as if he wanted to freeze him over. Wu Haoli, with a slight curve of his lips, showed no fear and shifted his gaze to Muniang.
Yu Ze followed into the building with a chilly demeanor.
The servant led Muniang straight to the private room where Wu Haoli was waiting, casting an anxious glance at Yu Ze, and shrank his neck.
“Why are you the one personally checking on the dishes today? You must be really bored,” said Muniang, startled to see that it was Wu Haoli. Although Dongxing Building was his, the number of times he actually visited was few since there were Dongxing Buildings all over the country, so there was no need for him to stick around daily.
Wu Haoli smiled, “I happened to be free today, and it turns out you came as well. I wanted to see how the new dishes turned out.”
Muniang didn’t beat around the bush. After taking her seat, she pulled out a slip of paper from her sleeve and handed it to Wu Haoli, “Take a look. This time I’ve prepared Stuffed Fried Eggplant, Squirrel Fish, and also Stuffed Tofu.”
Wu Haoli raised an eyebrow, “These names do sound fresh. How do you always have so many ideas?”
Muniang just smiled and didn’t reply—it wasn’t like she could admit it was all thanks to copying.
Wu Haoli handed the slip to the waiting servant, who in turn gave Muniang the prepared three hundred li worth of silver notes.
Muniang promptly tucked the silver note into her purse and said, “Same old rules then. If there’s anything you don’t understand, come directly to me, and I’ll explain. Let’s not linger.”
Wu Haoli stood up, “Wait, I recently acquired a fine item and thought you might be able to use it.”
Muniang was taken aback, “What?”
Wu Haoli chuckled and then pulled out a brocade box. Muniang thought it was jewelry or something and was about to decline, but when he opened it, she realized it was a pen, specifically, a quill pen.
Muniang was bright-eyed; wasn’t this a Western quill pen?
“Where did you get this from?”
