Chapter 137: Chapter 137: His Ms. Shaw, in Another Man’s Arms

The handsome man in front of her looked at her gently, moving his hand from her head to his shoulder, "You haven’t changed much, still just a tiny one."

Claire Shaw’s eyes sparkled with a bit of starlight, "That’s because as I was growing taller, so were you! But you’ve changed quite a bit."

Hayden Quinn lowered his eyes, his eyes were long and narrow, with a teardrop mole under one.

When his eyelid covered one-third of his pupil, he appeared aloof and indifferent.

Yet at this moment, there was a tenderness in his eyes, adding a hint of enchantment.

"Hmm? How have I changed?"

Claire poked his face with her hand, "I remember you had a chubby face when you were little, didn’t you? Truly, boys really do change as they grow up. Hayden, did you secretly shave your bones and have cosmetic surgery?"

Hayden chuckled softly, flicked her forehead, and naturally took the fruit from her hand.

"Little girl, you’re quite imaginative."

Claire walked into the living room with the flowers, familiarly replacing the flowers in the vase. The man handed her a pair of scissors to trim the flower branches.

His hands were beautiful, flawless like a piece of art.

The skin was pale, the wrist bones prominent, each finger long and slender, yet they secretly carried strength, not appearing weak.

Even Claire glanced at them a few more times.

She often saw those short videos focusing on hands, but none were as beautiful as the ones in front of her.

Claire had a bit of a fondness for good looks, especially when it came to abs and beautiful hands.

"What are you looking at?" The man picked up a lily of the valley, the white flower and green stem in his palm looked even more like a work of art.

Claire quickly returned to her senses. Here she was, a girl with a boyfriend, staring at another man’s hands, wasn’t that just like those men who stare at women’s legs?

She shook her head, pulling her thoughts back.

"It’s nothing. I heard from Mr. Jameson that you’ve been studying medicine abroad all these years. How long are you planning to stay this time?"

Mr. Jameson’s voice came from behind, "Ah, he’s not young anymore, how can he keep drifting outside? Happened that a domestic hospital invited him back to take charge, so he’s planning to develop here for the time being."

"That’s great, it means you can spend more time with the teacher too."

Claire arranged the flowers as if she wasn’t an outsider at all, bringing the fruits she brought into the kitchen to wash.

The white curtain on the kitchen doorway reading "Four Seasons, Three Meals" was lifted by someone, with the tall figure of the man standing behind Claire.

"Why are you like a little housewife? So obedient, you were really naughty when you were little."

Claire chuckled, "People have to grow up."

The drops from the eaves were becoming smaller and smaller; the weather was about to clear up.

"I still remember the first time I met you, wearing a dirty white dress, squatting in the gatehouse at the school gate, like an abandoned stray cat."

That day, it rained heavily, all the children were picked up, and Claire Shaw was the only one not picked up, her eyes reddened.

The boy squatted in front of her and slipped a lollipop into her hand, "Hey, do you want a candy?"

Claire looked up and said seriously, "Mr. Jameson said not to take candy from strangers casually, or you could be taken away by human traffickers."

The boy laughed, his chubby face unusually warm.

He reached out to touch Claire’s damp hair, "Mr. Jameson is my mom, I’m just next door at the primary school, coming to pick up my mom after work."

Looking at the school uniform he was wearing, Claire was still too embarrassed to take the candy.

The little boy forced it into her hand, "Take it, consider it on me, a candy for when you’re not feeling good."

Claire smiled faintly, "Yes, I still remember that strawberry-flavored lollipop, sweet and sour."

Hayden took the washed fruits from her hand, casually picked up a fruit knife that spun in his palm before he firmly grasped it.

The motion was smooth and natural, leaving Claire dumbfounded.

"Hayden, that’s so cool, how do you do it?"

Hayden was momentarily stunned before he laughed, "It’s a reflex, gotten used to playing with knives, do you want me to teach you?"

In front of him, Claire was still as naive as during childhood, thinking that since he was a doctor, he must often handle knives, without suspecting more.

"Sure."

Saying that, Hayden embraced her from behind, trapping her in front of the kitchen counter. Even though he didn’t touch Claire’s body, being so close to someone of the opposite sex always made Claire feel a little uncomfortable.

He slipped a fruit knife into her hand, "Hold it, try using your wrist to exert force, like this."

Hayden’s fingertip touched Claire’s wrist, and she pushed him away. Only then did she realize that Hayden had grown up, no longer the big brother from back then.

"Forget it, this knife is too dangerous, I’m afraid of cutting myself, I’ll go outside and help the teacher sweep the floor instead."

Seeing her hurriedly escape, the man curved his mouth into a wicked smile.

The knife was tossed aside by Claire but in his hand, it was like a little toy, his wrist turned, and the blade spun deftly into a circle in his palm.

With a casual flick, the fruit knife fell onto an apple, splitting it in two, the knife stood straight up on the cutting board.

The teacher was preparing dinner; she casually instructed, "Claire, go to the field out back and pick some tomatoes and peppers."

Claire picked up a bamboo basket hanging on the wall, "Anything else?"

"Also, some green onions and bok choy, can you check if the eggplants have grown?"

"Okay."

Claire really liked Ms. Jameson; during spring, she would come over to help the teacher with planting.

But the teacher said that with her delicate appearance, she couldn’t bear to let her exert herself.

Instead, picking vegetables always ended up being Claire’s responsibility.

Usually, when Claire’s foot wasn’t hurt, she was always hopping around like a little bunny in the countryside.

Today, her foot hurt with every move she made, so she walked very slowly.

The ground, having just been rained on, was muddy. Claire wore flat shoes, and a stabbing pain from the sole struck her, slipping underfoot, and her body suddenly fell forward.

"Careful!"

She was pulled hard into someone’s arms.

Opposite, Wyatt was about to take a few everyday photos of Claire and send them to Ethan Blackwood.

Unbeknownst to him, at the moment the camera clicked, a man appeared in the picture.

A minute later, Ethan Blackwood received a photo.

In front of a lush green cornfield, a little girl in a white dress, with two braids, was falling into the arms of an unfamiliar man.

Her small hand rested on the man’s chest; the man’s fair hand held her slender waist.

The man wore a white shirt, black casual pants, and even just from the side, one could tell he was extraordinarily handsome. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

The two, dressed in matching colors, were like a princess and prince from a fairy tale.

Beautiful, harmonious.

He zoomed in on the picture; Claire’s eyes were filled with lingering fright, like a startled doe.

While the man looked down at her with deep affection, a tender look in his eyes.

"Slap!"

Ethan Blackwood slammed his phone hard onto the table and stood up abruptly.
