Chapter 84: WHAT’S WRONG WITH THIS GUY?

HANEUL glanced up and saw Seojun standing there, a water bottle in hand. The chill he’d felt earlier must have come from it. As their eyes met, a subtle wave of disappointment washed over him—like expecting to see someone else, someone he had been unconsciously wanting to see, only to find another person in their place.

He quickly chastised himself for letting his thoughts drift in that direction. He must be more exhausted than he realized to even think like that. Shaking off the feeling, he forced a smile at Seojun—a little too bright, perhaps, as if trying to mask the flicker of disappointment he didn’t want to admit was there.

Seojun, on the other hand, froze the moment Haneul looked up at him. No, he had already been frozen from the instant their eyes met. Haneul wasn’t wearing his glasses, likely so it wouldn’t get in the way while he was practicing. Without them, Seojun had an unobstructed view of his eyes. It was such a small change, yet it transformed Haneul’s entire presence in a way Seojun couldn’t quite explain. That one subtle difference shifted everything.

Haneul’s eyes were a light brown, so bright they almost appeared amber under the right light. The slight tilt at the corners gave them a subtle, effortless charm, adding a unique depth to his gaze. Without his glasses, they seemed softer, almost as if there were tiny stars flickering within them, adding a subtle glow that made them all the more mesmerizing.

Seojun felt like he could stare into those eyes for days without ever wanting to look away. That’s how captivating they were. And of course, being the owner of such eyes only made Haneul even more attractive.

It’s an attractiveness that could either make a person envy him to death, or leave them completely spellbound, unable to look away. Haneul possessed a charm that was effortless, the kind that made people feel either drawn to him or insecure in his presence.

Seojun honestly couldn’t tell which one he was—envious or drawn to Haneul—and he was at least grateful to still have the presence of mind to feel confused. After all, they were in the middle of a competition. If he allowed himself to get distracted by being attracted to one of the contestants, he might as well pack up and head home.

But as a healthy young Alpha, it’s only natural for him to be attracted to someone with such a face. Call him shallow, but that’s just human nature. Especially since Haneul was very obviously an Omega.

At first, Seojun wasn’t sure. The Omegas he knew were usually petite and average in height, but Haneul was taller than most of them. That’s why Seojun had initially wondered if he might be a Beta. He ruled out the other being an Alpha because Haneul’s build was slimmer than a typical Alpha’s. But now, with a clear view of Haneul’s face, there was no doubt left in his mind. He was definitely an Omega.

Yes, that reasoning was probably as shallow as saying it’s inevitable to be attracted to someone beautiful. But sometimes, an Alpha just knew. It was hard to explain—maybe it was instinct, something hard-wired into them, like a genetic marker embedded in their DNA. It didn’t have to make sense; it was just the way things were.

Right now, his ’Alpha instincts’ were screaming that Haneul was an Omega. If he were in a rut, those instincts might even push him to do something as irrational as trying to mate with him. Okay, that was going too far—disrespectful even. Seojun quickly shook his head, forcing himself to clear away those thoughts before they went any further.

"Is the water for me?"

Haneul’s voice cut through Seojun’s wandering thoughts, pulling him back to the moment. Forcing himself to focus, Seojun flashed his usual bright smile and responded, "Yes."

All the while, Seojun scolded himself internally. He was a gentleman, and he knew better than to be disrespectful toward an Omega, even if it was only in his thoughts.

Haneul glanced at the water bottle, noticing it was still sealed. That reassured him, and he accepted it without hesitation. In his previous world, something like this wouldn’t have been an issue. But here, being an Omega meant he had to be more cautious about what he ate and drank, especially when it came from someone he didn’t know well.

Although Haneul knew of Seojun in his previous world, it was only in the context of him being a celebrity. He didn’t know him on a personal level. Sure, Seojun had a solid reputation, but who could say if the image he presented to the public was genuine or just an act?

If anyone could read Haneul’s thoughts right now—particularly the part about not eating or drinking anything from a stranger—they would probably laugh at him. After all, wasn’t it just earlier today that he accepted a piece of candy from a ’stranger’ named Jung Taeyang?

"Thanks for this," he said, referring to the water bottle. "Are you going to start practicing again?"

"Yeah." freēwēbηovel.c૦m

Seojun actually wanted to say ’no’, because he felt like he would just be distracted by the other if they remained alone here. But if he did, it would be weird. Because why the heck did he return here in the first place if he’s not going to practice? Besides, he really needed the practice. He still could just barely follow the choreography. If he didn’t practice, he might just make a fool of himself tomorrow in front of the mentors.

Haneul nodded as if he understood and stood up, unscrewing the cap of the water bottle. After taking a sip, he placed it on the small table in the corner. He was about to tell Seojun to restart the dance practice video when he paused, tilting his head in confusion. Seojun had turned his head to the side abruptly, almost as if avoiding eye contact. The part of his cheek that Haneul could see appeared to be... was it a bit red?

What’s wrong with this guy?

Haneul shrugged it off and decided to ignore it. Without saying anything, he restarted the dance practice video and began practicing again.
