Chapter 127: SONG CHOICE DISCUSSION

[Falling For You] by Dissept.

[Adore Me True] by EX9.

[Scenic Love] by Radiance.

[Secret Entrance] by Rogue Teens.

[Beat Flow] by Iconic.

Haneul’s eyes immediately locked onto the first song on the list: [Falling For You]. It was a track known for its demanding high notes and intricate falsetto sections, requiring both precision and control. The song also featured melodic rap parts that blended smoothly into the song. To showcase the group’s vocal abilities, it was definitely a great song to choose.

"Now that you’ve seen the five songs, we’ll give you thirty minutes to discuss with your teams and decide which song you’d like to perform. In the meantime, please leave this area and return here once the time is up," Yoon Jihoon announced.

As soon as Yoon Jihoon finished speaking, the other contestants began to move, eager to make the most of their thirty minutes.

Taeyang turned to the five members of his team and asked, "Where do you want to discuss?"

"I think the dining hall is a good spot," Robin suggested. "At least we can sit down and talk properly there."

The others nodded in agreement, and without wasting any more time, the group made their way toward the dining hall.

When they arrived, they found a quiet corner with a large table and settled in, pulling chairs close to huddle together. However, they weren’t the only ones who’d thought of the dining hall—several other teams had the same idea, scattered across the room in their own groups.

"So," Taeyang began, cutting straight to the point, "which song do you think we should go for?"

Kim Joonhyuk was the first to speak up. "I think [Falling For You] by Dissept sunbae-nim could be a strong choice. It’s got those high notes and melodic rap parts that could really showcase our vocals. Plus, it’s emotional—if we deliver it well, it could leave a lasting impression."

Haneul felt relieved that there’s another member in the team who had the same idea as him. So, he didn’t hesitate to agree. "I think that’s a good pick. The falsetto sections would be a challenge, but if we nail them, it could set us apart."

Robin chimed in, his tone thoughtful. "What about [Adore Me True]? It’s upbeat and has a lot of room for harmonies. It could really energize the audience, even without choreography."

Lee Minjae added, "I’m leaning toward [Scenic Love]. It’s smooth and has a lot of room for vocal layering. It’s not as intense as [Falling For You], but it’s still impactful and a very safe option"

Park Seongwoo, the last to speak, hesitated before offering his opinion. "I think [Beat Flow] by Iconic could be interesting. It’s got a mix of rap and vocals, and the rhythm is addictive. It might not be as vocally demanding, but it could still be a crowd-pleaser."

The team fell silent for a moment, each member weighing the options. Taeyang finally broke the silence. "Let’s think about what will highlight our strengths the most. We’ve got strong vocalists here, so maybe we should lean into that. [Falling For You] and [Scenic Love] both give us a chance to show off our vocals, but [Falling For You] has that emotional edge that could really connect with the audience."

Haneul glanced subtly at Taeyang after he spoke. Though they hadn’t officially discussed who should lead the team, Taeyang hadn’t hesitated to step up and guide the discussion. What struck Haneul most was how natural it felt—no one questioned it or pushed back. It was as if Taeyang’s leadership was an unspoken given, something the team instinctively accepted without needing to debate.

He couldn’t help but wonder if that was just Taeyang’s presence or if it was a reflection of his rank. Either way, this was better than being directionless.

Kim Joonhyuk nodded firmly at what Taeyang had said. "I still think [Falling For You] is the way to go. It’s challenging, but if we pull it off, it could be unforgettable."

Haneul also quickly said, "I agree. It’s a strong choice."

Robin tilted his head, quietly considering everything that had been said about [Falling For You]. The reason it wasn’t his first choice was simple: it felt too technical, and lacked the fun, energetic vibe he usually gravitated toward. That’s why he’d initially suggested [Adore Me True]—it was upbeat, lively, and felt more like his style.

But as he thought about it more, he realized that this wasn’t just about personal preference. This was a competition, and [Falling For You] had the potential to truly showcase their vocal abilities in a way that could set them apart. It was challenging, yes, but that was exactly what they needed to stand out.

With a small sigh, Robin nodded. "Okay, let’s go with [Falling For You]."

Park Seongwoo shrugged. "If everyone’s on board, then I’m fine with it too."

Lee Minjae seemed to want to say more, but since everyone had basically decided on [Falling For You], he could only nod in agreement.

Taeyang gave a firm nod. "Then it’s settled. [Falling For You] it is."

"The only question now is whether we’ll actually get the song," Robin said, breaking the silence. When everyone turned to look at him, he explained, "I mean, the staff surely already has a plan for how the songs will be assigned. They’re not just going to give us [Falling For You] because we chose it."

Haneul nodded. Robin was right—this was no different from how other idol survival programs operated. The staff always had a plan, and the contestants’ input was often more for show than anything else. It was a calculated system, one designed to create drama and tension for the audience.

What frustrated him, though, was that he couldn’t remember how the vocal test mission had played out in his previous world’s version of Boys Odyssey. If he could recall even a little of how the songs were assigned or how the teams performed, it might have given them an edge.

Still, he pushed the regret aside. Dwelling on what he didn’t know wouldn’t help.
