Fake Marriage To The Richest Tycoon-Chapter 109: Brilliant plan
Chapter 109: Chapter 109: Brilliant plan
She would have hit the floor with a painful thud had it not been for a strong arm wrapped around her waist, supporting her.
She opened her eyes slowly and was relieved that she didn’t have a concussion. However, that relief vanished immediately when she looked up to meet the person who had caught her in his strong hold.
Damn it! There he was—the same man who had accused her of causing him injuries during the tech event a few nights ago—smiling at her brightly. Well, it seemed like the cut on his forehead had healed fine because he looked absolutely handsome and hot right now.
Oh, Sanya mentally slapped herself. What was she thinking? He was probably here to collect his compensation, speaking of which...
She was suddenly reminded that his hand was still supporting her waist, and they were in this awkward position. Everyone was staring at them.
"Let go of me," Sanya said.
"Alright, young lady," he replied with a naughty smirk as he removed his hand from her waist.
"What’s going on here? It seems like everyone is ready to gobble you up," the man taunted her playfully. He expected her to retaliate in the same manner, but he was wrong. It only annoyed and angered Sanya further. She shot him a look—a fierce, dark look that promised to punch him in the face again.
Then she turned away from him to face the angry crowd.
"We were having a discussion, and it escalated into a fight. Here’s the thing," another colleague told him. "Mi Liu’s gold ring went missing. It was last seen in the ladies’ locker room, where Sanya was the last one to enter. Mi Liu confronted her, but she denied it. When we searched her, we found the missing ring in her pocket. So it’s concluded that she’s a thief and a liar," the colleague finished the story.
"I am not!" Sanya yelled, fists clenched. She was getting ready to punch someone in the face.
"It was found in your pocket! You took it!" Mi Liu cried, putting on a pitiful look.
"You’re framing me for something I didn’t—" Sanya said, but the man cut her off.
"Quiet, both of you ladies. I have a brilliant idea to find out who the culprit is," he suddenly announced.
Everyone turned to look at him, wondering who this man was. Sanya squinted her eyes at him, shooting him a bloodthirsty death glare.
What in the world was this dumb rich kitten trying to do? Land her in more trouble?
"Who are you? How can you be trusted?" the male colleague asked.
"Yes, aren’t you on Sanya’s side? Both of you seem to know each other," another one asked, full of doubt.
"We do know each other, but it’s not what you think. This lady here," the man said, gesturing to Sanya, "owes me a huge sum of money, and she hasn’t paid me back yet."
"See? That’s why she had to steal my ring. Now it all makes sense. What do you have to say for yourself, Sanya?" Mi Liu cried.
"I—" Sanya was speechless. This dumb kitten was making things hard for her on purpose! From his words, everyone was starting to believe that she was a thief.
"But you’re missing something," the man added with a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips.
"What?" Sanya and Mi Liu asked in unison.
"She’ll pay me back by working for me. So, from now on, she’s my maid," the man announced.
"What!?" Sanya was taken aback. Where did this come from? What just happened? I’m whose maid? Sanya wondered.
It seemed everyone else was shocked too.
"Really? You’ve got to be kidding me," Mi Liu said, eyeing the man who was obviously dressed in a fine, expensive suit that accentuated his lean figure.
"Yes, she is. Starting from this moment," he said, bringing his wrist up to his eyes and checking his watch. "And as for the brilliant plan of seeking the true culprit," the man clapped his hands, and immediately his servant appeared.
"Yes, sir. What’s the problem?" The servant bowed respectfully. Wow, this man must be a big shot!
"I want you to take this ring to the lab and test it for fingerprints. Right now, at this moment, without delay!" the man commanded.
"Yes, sir." The servant took the ring from Mi Liu, who suddenly became nervous and started sweating. She hesitated to hand it over, but with the urging looks from her colleagues and watchful eyes, she slowly passed the ring to the servant.
"Why are you sweating? Isn’t the place air-conditioned?" the man asked, amused by her reaction.
"Nothing. I’m just feeling a bit unwell," Mi Liu said, wiping the beads of sweat on her forehead.
"Who are you?" Mr. Bing asked suspiciously.
"Shentu Mingye," the man answered. Mr. Bing stumbled backward in shock.
"S-Shentu Mingye!? The little master of the Shentu family?! Your second brother is Shentu Jing?!" Mr. Bing asked, as if he couldn’t believe what he was hearing.
"Yes, that’s my lovely brother," Shentu Mingye answered smugly. He turned to Sanya and shot her a wink. Sanya facepalmed mentally from embarrassment. God, did she just punch and knock down a billionaire? Possibly the one who would ruin her life? Hell no. She was in mega-deep trouble.
Mi Liu gaped, and everyone started muttering to themselves. After all, it wasn’t an everyday occurrence to meet a real billionaire, especially a handsome one like himself.
Suddenly, Mr. Bing became very polite with the man and started offering him drinks or a seat. But Shentu Mingye declined them all. He was here for that gangster woman. Mi Liu appeared more shy and timid in front of Shentu Mingye, probably trying to get his attention. Sanya scoffed at her pretentious act.
"What do we do then? The lab results will most likely be back in two or a week’s time. Are we going to wait for it here?" one of the colleagues asked, annoyed that her lunchtime was delayed because of this.
"Lab results don’t take that long. Approximately about," Shentu Mingye glanced at his watch, "ten minutes from now," he said, looking up.
"Nice to meet you again. You know, I still haven’t forgotten the compensation fee you promised to pay me," he whispered in her ear.
