Chapter 36: Chapter 32: You Are a Fiend!

Seven days passed in the blink of an eye.

During these seven days, there were no strange dreams, no interruptions from others, nor any bizarre occurrences; everything was so peaceful it felt like a return to the past.

Yet You Su never relaxed his mind. He trained tirelessly during the day, becoming proficient in Swordsmanship and mastering over ten skills from "General Choices," though few were truly useful in combat.

At night, he continued to help his junior sister sense the flow of Profound Qi. The first two days ended with some awkwardness between them, but after the third day, they grew increasingly accustomed to it.

On the night of learning the third move, some positions were dangerously close to vital areas, so You Su exercised great restraint to avoid embarrassing his junior sister. However, Ji Lingruo proactively grabbed You Su’s hand and drew it closer, murmuring:

"Since we’re doing serious work, why be so timid? If you’re not forthright, it makes the teaching seem impure."

Upon hearing this, You Su understood Ji Lingruo’s determination and had no more apprehensions. Fortunately, the teaching was effective; Ji Lingruo’s sword style finally began to exhibit some flair.

The young girl delighted in growing stronger, arriving earlier each night and departing later. Every session ended with her reluctantly saying "more, more," leaving You Su exhausted as he urged her to leave.

Through this relentless practice, You Su’s control over Profound Qi subtly improved. In terms of the Ignition Skill, he could even ignite all ten fingers simultaneously. While excited about the ten flames on his hands, he discovered that the next page of "General Choices" surprisingly featured a Fire Palm Skill technique.

These were the obvious things, but secretly, You Su also put in a lot of effort.

He pored over countless forbidden books but found scant useful information.

The Evil-Repelling Sect focused solely on dispelling evils, primarily studying the nurturing and controlling of spirits. The book had a brief mention of a secret sect which researched bonding and detachment with spirits as a source of power, but it was extinguished by the Divine Mountain hundreds of years ago due to its malevolence.

The most useful information was perhaps a formation in the book that could hide surrounding evil Qi. You Su secretly set up this formation near the sect’s residence, and although rudimentary, injecting Profound Qi into the Exorcism Order no longer caused it to change temperature.

You Su had been researching the function of the Exorcism Order, but apart from the information transmitted that night, in You Su’s hands it was nothing more than an ordinary Jade Pendant, green with ink. He attempted to find any remaining people from the Exorcism Bureau in the city, but to no avail.

The Divine Mountain seemed to be his only hope now.

Just when You Su was burning himself out planning how to take his junior sister and master to Henggao Divine Mountain together, an opportunity arose.

A genuine visitor from the Divine Mountain descended upon this remote small town.

...

Morning light first appeared.

The first rays of the morning sun spread across the heavens and the earth, covering the city’s scattered buildings with a layer of golden brilliance. Through the faint mist lingering in the air, the streets and alleys of Chuyun City were void of any shadow.

The breakfast street, usually crowded in the morning, now stood with only empty stalls.

Not knowing how to tell his junior sister that the pastry shop was indeed closed, and wondering if she would believe it.

You Su shook his head and walked through the street, feeling as though the city today had become a ghost town.

The identity of the esteemed guest the City Lord’s mansion was welcoming — who could it be?

To have Mr. Liou order all the citizens not to freely wander the streets before noon, and to invite all cultivators above the Spirit Platform Realm in Chuyun City to welcome the guest together. This presumably wasn’t simply for show, or else it would make more sense for the entire city to welcome them, wouldn’t it?

You Su only hoped the reasons behind it had nothing to do with him; he desperately wished this wouldn’t add more troubles to his already struggling life.

Without realizing it, he had reached the ancient and charming City Lord’s mansion.

You Su expanded his senses, finding several dozen people orderly standing in front of the mansion’s entrance.

Led by Mr. Liou, seven elders of high-standing followed, Mr. Wang was among them, and behind were those from the middle-aged and younger generations.

Dressed simply in white, You Su quietly slipped into the end of the line, standing poised like a tree. Though he believed no one noticed him, he couldn’t escape the attention of the keen observers.

"Is this You Su from the Mandarin Duck Sword Sect?"

"Broken Sword Sect, just Broken Sword Sect; why bother sounding so fancy? Do you want to switch allegiance?"

"Master would skin me alive. Hey, heard that the sect leader has been gone for almost ten years now, leaving just three people in the whole sect, is that true?"

"A pretentious blind senior brother, a junior sister from who knows where, and a master who never leaves the house — can you say it’s fake?"

"Is such a sect even worthy of welcoming that esteemed guest?"

"How should I know? If you ask me, it’s like a bat tied with chicken feathers — doesn’t know what kind of bird it is anymore."

With these words, those around burst into sneering laughter. Although the two spoke softly, everyone being perceptive cultivators, capturing these voices wasn’t difficult.

You Su feigned deafness, sarcastically acknowledging in his heart that much of their discussion was indeed truthful, leaving no room for argument.

Such voices of derision had been incessant ever since that arrogant and domineering master ventured afar, but You Su had long grown accustomed to it.

"Huiren, Huiyuan, the distinguished guest is arriving — cease the chatter," a young man turned to the two whispering individuals and softly rebuked.

This young man was none other than Wu Cheng, and observing the lineup closely, he stood teasingly at the forefront of the younger generation.

Today, he had clearly dressed with care, wearing a refined yet luxurious brocade robe that accentuated his unmatched good looks, drawing many young female cultivators to secretly gaze at him, their stares fervent and longing.

"Yes, Mr. Wu," the two dare not act hastily in front of Wu Cheng, respectfully bowed and answered.
