F-ranker Sword Saint: My Soulbound Sword is Secretly SSS-tier!-Chapter 341: Like A Helpless Brat
’A level 90 elite...’
The situation was worse than he thought.
Daru didn’t have much time to ponder the situation, though. Talons were already morphing into a massive blade reminiscent of a scimitar.
It chopped down at him.
He Swallow Stepped to the side, dodging the attack and countering with a Double Strike, but with a mighty flap of the Strigari’s wings, he was blown away.
’Tch...’
Daru clicked his tongue in annoyance, but he didn’t complain. That was a part of the owl half-bird’s abilities.
The Nightreign Strigari was relentless, immediately zooming at him again, kicking forth in a vicious stab.
But he somersaulted forward, effectively evading the attack and not giving his foe a chance to chain, slashing a pitiful red slash mark while at it.
[-110]
The female half-owl didn’t even pay the damage any attention, flapping her wings mightily as she spun, summoning a raven-black hurricane that danced towards Daru.
He tried countering with his own Hurricane Sweep, but his pitiful hurricane was easily swallowed and destroyed, not even weakening the enemy’s.
Thankfully, Swift Tumble just got off cooldown.
He managed to extricate himself from the vicious pull of the raging dark winds. Only, the moment his feet settled, a black blur was upon him.
Daru gritted his teeth.
*CLANG!*
Forced to block, he tasted iron in his throat, arms numb as the winds violently crashed on his back.
He was sent flying off the branch.
[-120]
"Puhahk!"
Daru ultimately couldn’t hold off the blood, vomiting red cubic particles as his hands shakily tapped on the belt bag and grabbed something out of thin air.
In the next moment, a pair of scarlet wings with accents of black sprouted on his back, and he glided at the sloping sides of the branch, heading west.
The half-owl screeched, furiously giving chase.
The Cardari Wingroot lasted for four minutes. However, it was slightly inferior in speed compared to the Nawkari Wingroot during nighttime.
It didn’t take long for the female Strigari to catch up, morphing its legs back to talons and clutching at him.
But Daru turned just in time, slashing at the approaching grasp.
He was sent flying again.
But with the enduring Cardari Wingroot, he converted the backward momentum to his advantage, ignoring his aching body and continuing to flee.
For the duration of the scarlet wing, Daru somehow managed to avoid being annihilated, though he paid a third of his hitpoints for it.
Clangs, grunts, and screeches occasionally broke the silence of the chilling night as the chase north of the forest continued.
With the Robari Wingroot, Daru had a slightly easier time...but not by much.
The winged pursuit lasted for far longer than it should have as he rotated the wingroots. Next was the Jayari’s, then the Kestrari.
This, however, was his last one.
The cooldowns for each were quite lengthy, and there was no chance his Nawkari Wingroot would make it on time.
To make matters worse, his current Wingroot received a debuff during nighttime. He could only deal with the Strigari’s talons with his blade.
Daru consumed a Life Sap, restoring a portion of his life and stamina as he headed back to land.
He could not afford to have his wings dissolve with only the clouds beneath.
He would’ve easily made it...had the female half-owl not severed them with a black crescent.
Daru suddenly felt that he was falling, gritting his teeth in frustration.
Still, he didn’t just give up.
He shifted his body and turned to his pursuer. Sure enough, the Nightreign Strigari was swooping in, talons open and ready to grab him with predatory glee.
Daru’s eyes locked into focus.
A chance!
He quickly leaned back, rotating twice, tucking his knees, then slashing down. The pitiful red slash mark was swallowed by the skies beneath.
Daru, meanwhile, was pushed back by the recoil, narrowly dodging the Strigari’s clutches.
Then, without hesitation, he landed on one of the huge talons, using it as a foothold for a moment before jumping.
The Nightreign Strigari could not believe her eyes, screeching furiously at the azure sword manifestation before it.
The female half-owl opened its beak in an attempt to consume Daru.
But he was gone, already meteoring towards the nearby land.
"Haha!" he laughed in sheer delight, pleased with his wits. He opted not to use the second half of his Sword Skill, immediately turning to face his pursuer.
The Strigari was indeed hot on his tail.
However, before it reached him, a black blur swooped from above — faster than either of them could react.
The next thing he knew, a choked screech filled the harrowing night, disappearing into the clouds beneath.
Daru quickly dashed to the edge and looked down.
There a vacuum-like black rift was, closing rapidly. Just another second later, the night was as still as a lake.
The eerie sounds of the rustling foliage could be heard again.
He sighed in relief, feeling a hint of weakness washing over him. This was, in a way, according to his plan.
He desperately hoped that the Rift Birdy would pass by.
He had a strange feeling that it would — perhaps optimism — but after resisting the Strigari’s predatory chase for more than a dozen minutes, Daru had given up on this hope.
It was supposed to be nothing but a pipe dream, so he had fully resolved himself to hold out for as long as he could while he thought of a way to deal with his foe.
Things should’ve been more exhausting. So much so that he would run out of options before he found a solution.
But there the Rift Birdy was, seizing a level ninety elite by the neck as though it was a father that did nothing more than drag his unruly brat back home.
Soon, the realization sank in, and Daru felt a sudden urge to relax. However, how could he?
His comrade was still out there...or was she?
"Elara!" 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
In the next moment, he stood up and dashed back to the forest.
