Chapter 47: Inspiration

’This again?!’

Rey felt a tinge of annoyance course through him at this point.

After reviving, he didn’t even think of seeking revenge against the Chaos Dweller. Why would he want to push his luck?

He simply desired to make up for any lost time by climbing the floors of the Dungeon.

But this goddamn thing showed itself again!

"What is your problem?!" Rey yelled aloud, but quickly calmed down and thought about the matter carefully.

’This is too unnatural. Judging by the splatters of my deoxygenated blood, it has been at least several minutes since it killed me. It should have gone to seek out more prey. Why would it just hang around this area? Why would it come inside the moment I want to leave?’

The way Rey saw it, there were two options.

One was that his luck was simply that terrible, and he was a magnet that attracted such calamities to himself.

While such a thing was possible, it still felt extreme and highly unfounded.

Thus, he favored the second option more.

’Someone or something is setting me up to fail! I’m tempted to think this match is rigged, but let’s not jump the gun yet. I should focus on all the possibilities first.’

Rey’s thoughts moved like lightning, such that by the time the Chaos Dweller got close, he had already figured it all out.

’I see! I understand it all now!’

Rey’s eyes brightened immediately as he stared at the approaching beast.

"Haha! So that’s what it was!"

He looked at the blade in his hand and chuckled without restraint.

"It’s the sword, isn’t it? Or rather, the items I got from that hidden chest! The Chaos Dweller is attracted to them!"

That was why it never left the room’s vicinity after it killed Rey.

It was protecting its treasures.

It also explained why it showed up the moment Rey picked up the blade. It had to have some sort of sensory abilities that locked it to Rey.

’Now that I am a threat to its treasures, it will eliminate me. In that case...!’

Rey grinned like a maniac.

His body was surging with all kinds of excitement.

He didn’t even know how to explain it himself. He felt a certain invigoration that made him believe he could do anything.

And in that realm, many inspirations met him at the same time.

"ROOAAARRR!!!"

The Chaos Dweller stretched its limb at Rey, attempting to decapitate him in one fell swoop.

But Rey was already prepared.

Inverse Technique #9: Minor Flip.

Reversal Technique #8: Outcome Flip

"Joint Technique: Minor Outcome Flip!"

Rey’s body immediately flipped upside down, his legs now up and his head near the ground.

The monster’s outstretched and hideous arm simply appeared in the middle of Rey’s legs, missing his head.

"Missed me!"

Rey twisted his body and grabbed hold of the Chaos Dweller’s hand, stabbing it with the blade.

"Bam!"

The arm immediately exploded into chunks.

"Guh!"

The Chaos Dweller staggered backwards, but quickly recovered and lunged more of its limbs at Rey, who was still laughing maniacally.

He was elated.

He was having so much fun right now.

"Joint Technique: Minor Flipped Axis!"

He immediately replaced himself with one of the chunks of flesh that were flying in the air.

Weaving through the air, he darted towards the Chaos Dweller. There was no hint of caution or fear in those eyes of his.

The Chaos Dweller changed the trajectory of its limbs and targeted Rey yet again, but he simply replaced his position with yet another flying chunk, before stabbing into another limb and erupting it once again.

This created more monster debris parts floating chaotically in the air for him to exploit.

"Groaarghhhh!!!"

Once the Tier 7 Chaos Dweller screamed, Rey kicked one of the smaller chunks towards it, stuffing it into its massive mouth.

"...!!!"

At this point, the Chaos Dweller was furious and vanished from its position.

It ignored distance and appeared right in front of Rey to kill him. Its speed was terrifying, and its might was astounding.

But Rey was still smiling.

Why wasn’t he afraid?

Death was looking him in the face, yet he showed no sign of being terrified.

Instead, he smiled.

A wild, insane smile as he pointed at the Monster with deep certainty.

’I’ve grasped it!’

Normally, he was able to flip two distinct things with his Inverse Technique using Flipped Axis.

To flip the direction or position of himself and an object, he needed to combine it with Minor Flip or utilize a Joint Technique.

But what about himself and someone else?

To do something like that...

... He would not only need to have more Ether, but also a deep grasp on the complexity of his Techniques.

And now, finally, he had achieved both conditions.

Rey possessed a hundred times more Ether than before. He had also received enlightenment from his recent resurrection.

His body was in an excited state.

Numerous thoughts swirled in his mind.

Thus, his energy swelled.

And it burst.

Within it was the answer he sought.

Inverse Technique #9 and #8: Minor Flipped Axis.

Reversal Technique #9 and #7: Inversion Betrayal.

"Chaos Art..." His lips curled up into a smile.

"... Joint Technique..."

The enemy was right in front of him, but he simply didn’t care. Instead, he let out a shout of triumph as the next words left his lips.

"... Inversion Betrayal’s Flipped Axis!’

At that moment—

Rey swapped places with the Tier 7 Chaos Dweller. It wasn’t just positions, but also their bodily positions.

It was now Rey attacking and the Chaos Dweller standing still.

"...?!"

The creature noticed this quickly.

Its survival instincts kicked in.

Live!

It wanted to live!

It immediately tried to retreat.

But...

... How could Rey not have expected such an outcome?

"Inverse Technique #8: Flipped Axis."

The piece of flesh that he had kicked towards the Chaos Dweller vanished, and replacing it was something unexpected.

The sword!

Rey’s sword had now suddenly appeared inside the monster’s mouth.

Its sharp edges tore through the beast as it tried to move.

The sudden pain paralyzed it.

And it allowed Rey the final window to approach it for one final gambit.

He touched the tip of the blade’s hilt and poured his Ether into it.

Then, he whispered with a grateful smirk.

"Erupt."

BOOOOOOOOOM!!!
