Extraordinary Realm from Persuasion System-Chapter 536 - 199: Flying Petals and Leaves, Transcendent Methods_4
Walking out of the cafeteria, Dong Guoning took out a pack of Tower Tips cigarettes, offered one to Zhang Beixing, and they both lit up, puffing out clouds of smoke.
Jin Linyu stood by, drinking water.
He thought of something and looked at Zhang Beixing, asking, "Lao Zhang, this is our last semester. Are you going to leave again during this semester?"
Jin Linyu was asking if Zhang Beixing would stay at the university for the remaining semester, or if he would disappear for months without a trace, just like he did in the latter half of last year.
Hearing his question, Zhang Beixing thought for a moment. "Currently... I probably won’t."
The reason he had been so busy in the latter half of the previous year, often vanishing for months, was that everything had piled up at once.
He needed to break through to the Great Grandmaster realm, but the condition for that was to become a Master of All and create his own Ultimate Skill. To achieve this, Zhang Beixing had to travel all over Great Xia, seeking out people to learn various Cultivation Techniques from. This took him away for two months.
Then, right after breaking through to Great Grandmaster and before he could even rest, he was ambushed with gunfire in Shishi City. The threat of firearms made him realize that the power of a Great Grandmaster wasn’t enough for self-protection.
The brush with death spurred him to reach the Transcendent realm as quickly as possible. However, the key to achieving Transcendent status lay in the heaven-defying version of Oizaki’s Eight Challenges, which also required him to travel across the country to complete those extreme sports.
All this coming and going meant Zhang Beixing was elusive for much of the latter half of last year, like a dragon showing its head but never its tail. He rarely had any free time.
It wasn’t until recently that Zhang Beixing entered the Transcendent realm, mastered the Postnatal Five Qi, and became the world’s sole Hidden Essence realm Cultivator. Finally, he had some capability to protect himself against firearms.
Therefore, Zhang Beixing’s life had naturally returned to a state of peace. Of course, this was discounting the troubles abroad.
There were just too many issues overseas: the Black Ghost tribe, an unknown criminal group that bore him ill will, and the person who had assaulted Teacher Liu...
However, Zhang Beixing’s current strength wasn’t yet enough for him to rampage through foreign lands and deal with all of them. Thus, he could only postpone these matters and lay low in his own country for the time being, though he reckoned this delay wouldn’t last too long.
Regardless, he was determined to spend his final semester of university peacefully on campus.
"Hey, hey, Lao Zhang! What are you mulling over? I’m talking to you," Jin Linyu’s voice broke in, rousing Zhang Beixing from his reverie just as he was deliberating his future plans.
Startled, Zhang Beixing came to his senses and looked at Jin Linyu. "What’s up?"
"Damn it, you weren’t listening at all, were you?" Seeing Zhang Beixing’s reaction, Jin Linyu’s mouth twitched, and he said, exasperated.
He then repeated his earlier question: "I said, since you’re not planning on leaving for now, do you want to join the class trip and spring outing we’re organizing?"
"Trip? Spring outing?" Hearing Jin Linyu’s words, Zhang Beixing raised his eyebrows. "When was this decided?"
"It was decided this morning while you were out for Martial Arts Training," Jin Linyu said.
"Huh???"
"Wait a minute," Zhang Beixing said, utterly baffled. "If I remember correctly, the semester just started, right? The snow hasn’t even completely melted, and you’re already planning a trip and spring outing?"
Seriously, planning an outing right when school starts? What kind of crazy idea is that?
"Yeah, what’s wrong with that? A trip and spring outing only counts as such if you go during the semester."
"Going during the holidays? That’s just a waste of time!" Jin Linyu declared righteously.
His words left Zhang Beixing speechless. Come to think of it, what Jin Linyu said actually made perfect sense!
"You sure think fast, kid. That logic is sound!"
"But what did the instructor say?" Zhang Beixing asked.
They were only about to graduate, not about to die; they couldn’t just do whatever they wanted. So, faced with such an absurd request for a class trip right after the semester started, as long as their instructor wasn’t completely out of their mind, they wouldn’t agree, right?
Unexpectedly, when he asked this, a cryptic smile spread across Jin Linyu’s face, as if he’d been waiting for just this question.
Jin Linyu clapped Zhang Beixing on the shoulder. "So, Godfather, this is where we need your help!"
"Need me?" Zhang Beixing was taken aback, then a realization dawned on him. His eyebrows shot up. "You brat, don’t tell me you want me to talk to the instructor for you?"
"SNAP!" Jin Linyu slapped his hands together, swung his arm in a wide circle, and with an overly dramatic flourish, gave Zhang Beixing a thumbs-up. "As expected of Godfather! You’re truly perceptive, guessing it right away!"
"So, Godfather, could I trouble you with this?"
"What do you think?" Zhang Beixing looked at Jin Linyu, exasperated.
This rebellious son! Always causing trouble for him! He’d taken several months of leave all at once last year, and he still didn’t know how he was going to explain that to the instructor. And now, this brat wanted him to pull another stunt like this. Are they only happy when they’ve pushed the instructor to the point of screeching in frustration? 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
"But, my dear son," Zhang Beixing began, draping an arm around Jin Linyu’s shoulders and rubbing his thumb and index finger together meaningfully, "if your father here helps you out with such a big favor, shouldn’t there be...?"
"Don’t worry, Godfather!" Jin Linyu declared. "Starting today, your meal expenses... I... uh... the entire senior class of Finance and Management will cover them for a month!"
Originally, he had intended to say that he alone would cover them until Zhang Beixing graduated. But then, thinking about Zhang Beixing’s terrifying appetite—enough to devour three pigs at one go—the words died on his lips.
Damn it! They didn’t want to end up having to take out a loan just to feed Zhang Beixing!
